Build A Bear Rudolph Repair
Watch me repair a Build A Bear Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer that's stopped working. I take it apart to find the wires to the activation button severed. I then fix it and patch him up, Frankenstien style.

Clubhouse Upgrade Time Lapse

Here's a time lapse of upgrading my Golf Sim from a 10x10 screen with a 1080p 16x9 projector to a 17 x 10 Carls Place Premium Impact screen with a BenQ LK 936 ST projector. As part of the upgrade, I put in a raised floor that goes up into the new screen for a continuous green into the Golf Sim. Another added benefit is that Putts roll back to me.
Hi Ron. I'm planning a build in Haliburton. Can you provide your glass supplier please?

Great golf simulator. I don’t have space for a sim like your new one, but was hoping you could share information about you old setup? What parts did you build with, what did you use to anchor the bottom and sides of screen. Any information you can share is appreciated. Thanks
I think it's covered in the video, but I used screw hooks to screw directly into the wall and then used the bungee loops to attach the screen to the hooks. I made the screen 6" smaller than the full width of the wall so there's be 3" on each side for the bungee. At the bottom, I built a ramp up to the screen which was 7" above the ground. The ramp was 6" plus another 1" for the turf. I connected the bottom of the screen to the same type of screw hooks that went into the ramp. This kept the screen snug and allowed the turf to go right up into the bottom of the screen for a really immersive experience. Not to mention that it's an automatic ball return too. Thanks for watching and for the comment.
Wow beautiful just framed my indoor sauna, what size wire should I,d I use for heater?
Thanks so much. I think it depends on the Heater. A higher Kw unit will have different requirements than a lower one. Check the Manufacturers requirement for the model you're looking at.
Looks great. Possibly planning this out for the spring. Hoping to be sub $4,000 as no big window planned 👍🏻
Thank you and good luck!
Nice build, quick question on the flooring, what materials did you use and what did you consider?
Aside from the concrete floor with a drain, I put raised 5/4 x 6" Cedar Deck Boards on the ground so it's comfortable and warm to walk on. I didn't want to use tiles because of ongoing maintenance (wiping and mopping) and additional cost. The floors been perfect with no issues and finishes off the space. It allows any water underneath it to dry or go down the drain. Simple, cheap, looks nice and functional. :) Thanks for the comment.
Hey Ron Would it be possible to get the contact info for your sauna door? Thanks
Do you know how I can message you privately with the contact information?
Hey Ron Saw your sauna build video and was wondering if you could pass on the contacts for the person who build your door. Thanks
Furring strips behind the cedar are essential. No air gap and it will mold.
I didn't use furring strips in this build, but yes, they are very important for ventilation and moisture control. I have easy access to the back of the walls so I'll be sure to check for mold in 6 months. I don't foresee it being an issue as I don't put that much humidity into the air and have also read opinions saying it's not necessary . I'll put out an update video in 6 months or so to update everyone. Thanks for you comment,
Is the room at least 8.5 ft tall? Taller is better. Otherwise you’ll get cold feet? 10 ft is ideal.
I made it 7 feet tall for efficiency of the heater. At 7 feet, my feet are at the level of the rocks and my head is about 6" below the ceiling. It get's plenty hot and my feet are hot as well. If I want to get them hotter, I can just bring them up to the top bench. Thanks for your comment,
The WHOLET thing about building a sauna and most rewarding part is you jump in and sweat like crazy and tell people it was worth every penny and time you spent building it. Many of the sauna projects I've seen the builder can't wait to go in and try it!
Spot on, that's me. I'm just as excited building things as using them. But I am happy to say that we've been using the Sauna every chance we get and it's fantastic! Thanks for your comment.
Hope you install a heat shield and move the heater 4 in from the wall.
i second that hope
@@carolinecaroline2264 thanks for the suggestion. After all the research I had done, this is another area where there are differing views. The manufacturer doesn’t ask for, or require a heat shield and it’s mounted as per their instructions. Cedar can handle high heat without worry of catching fire. I will certainly keep the channel updated with updates 6months and a year in to discuss any issues. Thanks again for the comment,
Hey Ron We are planning a sauna build right now. You mentioned a place to get a Mennonite door made at a great price. We are near Ottawa, did you get it in the Kitchener Waterloo area? Thanks
@@JohnFahey-q2x He’s in Melancthon. I’d be happy to pass on his contact if you’d like.
His contact info would be great. Thanks
@@GolfSimGuy I would love his contact details as well please!!
Hey Ron what a rad sauna on such a nice piece of property! I was also looking to buy a sauna door could you send that contact too?
Very nice job. You will indeed get those “sauna forum people” asking why plastic bubble wrap and why you didn’t make your ceiling taller since you had “unlimited” space above being in a barn. I agree that it should have been taller, but you have a great looking sauna and you will enjoy it. I agree with your thick and sturdy single pane window choice. Thanks for the video! How much per foot was your knotty cedar? I wish I lived near some Amish or Mennonites!
@@kignacio Thanks very much. I wanted to keep the height as low as comfortably possible for efficiency and getting away with a 9kw heater. I’ve got very tall friends who are very comfortable on the top bench with plenty of head room. Our feet are also level with the rocks. If the taller ceilings so that more of your body is in the hotter zone? The bubble wrap of course is my vapor barrier with a little added insulation and reflective foil. The T&G Knotty White Cedar was $1.30 /board ft. CDN. I’ll be providing bi-annual updates on it as well. Thanks again for taking the time to share.
Such a amazing sim set up, makes mine look average…lol
Nice build. Can you tell us where you got the door and other material?
The door is from a Mennonite in Melancthon and the Cedar is from a Mennonite in Mawell, both in Southern Ontario. If you're in the area, DM me and I can send you the details.
Beautiful property you have. Between your simulator and golf green you are set. Did you mention you are from beaver valley? is that the one in Ontario. I just set up a budget simulator in my garage for our Ontario winters. Not as nice as set up as yours at all but does the trick. I still need to find a short throw projector to fit my screen of only 6.5' wide and 8' high. Even if i can get image 6.5' x 6.5'.
You’re not supposed to use a Carl screen to watch movies on though. A real movie screen looks 100 times better.
Nice build. Two issues i see: 1) The stones look like self-collected from the river. they are not suitable. They can burst! 2) There should always be a small gap between wood panels and moisture barrier, if not you can run into a mold problem
The stones are a mixture of Granite and other non porous rocks from the property. I wanted to keep everything as local as possible. I will definitely identify the rocks to ensure they won't crack and burst. Thanks for letting me know about that. I didn't use furring strips in this build, but yes, they are very important for ventilation and moisture control. I have easy access to the back of the walls so I'll be sure to check for mold in 6 months. Nice work on the build. I would have liked to see a floor drain though.
Thank you, There is a floor drain that has a 90 degree and goes straight outside above grade into a pile of gravel. So far, there’s been no need for it. I’m going to start putting a more water on the rocks and maybe it’ll be necessary then. I'll keep everyone posted on this on an update video at the 6 month mark.
@@GolfSimGuy Lots of people wash in the sauna or just poor a bucket of cool water over their head to cool down. That is what a drain is for, not to catch the loyly drippings.
Do they ship those doors?
I don’t believe so. You have to pick it up from them.
@ you’re in Canada, right?
Thanks very much,
Very nice job!! I appreciate the fact that you took us along on this build. Also thanks for the cost breakdown.
Awesome setup. A lot of thought went into it. Even the movie seats on a wheeled platform is a fantastic idea
That’s pretty sick. I started with a 9x9 screen and have since realized I’m gonna have to redo a lot of it. Don’t quite have the space you have but you definitely learn exactly what you want after a year or so of use.
Absolutely agree. I had thought about it and planned out exactly what I wanted. But only after a year of use did I see what would work best. And then, another year before I got around to making it even better than I initially envisioned.
sick set up!
just rich people doing rich people things
Aussie Maccas signs?
How did you connect the screen to side walls? What did you use for padding? Love this setup. I was looking at buying an enclosure, but really like this setup.
Thanks so much, For the sides I put screw hooks into the wall and attached the 6” bungees. I ordered the screen to be 6” shorter than the wall to wall size so I had 3” on each side to tie in the bungees. I used the curtains for padding on the sides and on the top bar, I used soft foam pads along the top bar of the screen frame along with 3/4” pipe insulation.
Great sim, background music 👎🏻
100% Agree! I didn’t spend enough time looking for good royalty free music. Any suggestions?
What are the dimensions of the room. I ask, because we are developing floor plans for our new home and I searching for the right size. I will have the Uneekor eye xo 2 system
The entire room is 19x35, but the area for golf with the turf is 17x15 (WxD). Screen is 13’ from the tees and the height of the room is 12’, with the ceiling vaulted up to 19’ where the basketball hoop is over the hitting area.
Its beautiful.
Thank you,
Can I have your old setup? =D Please.
Would a ramp like that impact putting on a mevo plus ? Planning a buildout and this seems to be a perfect and easy clean setup, love the ramp idea but I thought it had to be level to the screen
I'm sorry, I'm not sure of the MEVO+ requirements. But I'm pretty sure it'll only measures point of impact so you'd be fine.
Mevo+ measures the ball flight with radar. It is required about 6 meters of space with your radar in the middle for short indoor mode.
I have mevo+ I’m definitely doing the ramp, highly doubt it would cause issues unless you raised it significantly higher than level with the unit. 6” likely wouldn’t make a difference.
a powered sand spreading brush would work well
I've tried my Ryobi Brush It Power Broom attachment and it couldn't get this type of moss growth out. Were you referring to something else? Would love to find something better if it's available. Thanks!
need some ceiling protection man, otherwise you can't play anything more than 52 degrees, it rolls upwards on the screen sometimes
Absolutely, yes, there is ceiling protection. I have a 10x20 Golf Hitting Net overhead that catches all my 60 Degree shots. Because I'm 13' from the screen, everything up to my Approach Wedge go into the netting and come back down safely. Thanks for watching.
Where did you get the outdoor murals for the side walls
That’s just a graphic for the thumbnail. It was generated by an AI called Midjourney.
I'm currently building a very similar setup. What distance and height did you mount the Benq 936ST?
It's 14' from the screen and 10' off the ground. You've got some play with the manual zoom on the lens and then you also have some digital controls on the projector.
Really like your setup. I am looking to build a backbuilding like this at my place. What are the dimensions of the building? I was thinking of doing 20' wide by 35' long since I also want to put my home office in there. For height was thinking 12' height ceilings. Your build looks to be around similar to what I am looking to do. Can you send the links to the netting and curtains?
If it's just for the Sim Room then that's a great size. My room is about 18'x35' with 12' ceilings. I left 18" behind the screen for speakers and for the screen to stretch when hit. Then I left 13' from the screen to the back of the hitting area. The rest of the space, is for the moveable seating, ping pong table, and lounge area.
I like the ramp. how do balls NOT go in between the screen and ramp though?
The screen is attached to the 2x6 with the bungees and the turf overhangs the platform by about 1/2" to go right up to the screen. It puts just a touch of pressure against the screen. Balls go up and come right back down.
The 2060 got more taxed when you went to the higher resolution and screen size probably.
It did in GSPro, but TGC handles it just fine. I’ve tried to lower the quality to med but the GPU is still running at 90-100. Although the GPU temp stays at around 80.
Nice place!
Thank you,
