To celebrate our anniversary, Wade and I decided to go out for some tacos! Our favorite place to go is Carnales Mexican Grill in Cuenca. Richard and his staff are exceptionally friendly, and the tacos are amazing! Everything is made fresh, in-house every day including the tortillas and salsas. Watch out though, those salsas will hit you with the spice!! If you're in Cuenca, be sure to stop by C...

Cuenca Days Walkabout

This year Cuenca, Ecuador marked 467 years in existence. Nearly twice as long as the USA has been a country! Being our first year here in the city, we ventured out to see what activities were taking place in our neighborhood. There was lots of music, plenty of vendors and local crafts. But best of all were the friendly locals who welcomed us to the festivities and were so very patient with our ...

    LOL no. being a kid sucks. The issue with the latest Generation is you guys dont wanna grow up. Well, guess what. you have; we all have to. You cant just fucking be a kid forever. Life moves on. You cant say life was beautiful when u were a kid when u werent old enough to even know what was going on in that time. You were a kid, u didnt know anything. Being an adult is much better. You can actually achieve your life goals and aspirations. You can actually do something with your life

    I know this isn't completely related, but for any GenZ who sees this comment: Do you also feel like the pandemic situation ate up our time and made it feel like we lost some years of our life we could have lived in a better way? Because, at least for me, sometimes I don't feel like my age, I feel like I'm still 2 years younger but then I remember that I graduated 4 years ago, and for some reason 4 years doesn't feel like that long now, but 4 years before the pandemic was sooo long, and thinking back on how long it's been since I graduated, it's been a long time, and yet, I still just don't feel as old as I really am anymore.

      we're a bit of a lost generation, so lets make sure we can give our children a better time than we had

    GenZ here, 21 about to be 22 in 3 days. I think we can all collectively see how bad what we are doing is to our minds and bodies and that we were not created to be following these types of activities for a long time because our bodies weren't made to sustain it even and we can feel what it's slowly doing to our brains and to our peers online as well. I grew up in the sweet spot of GenZ, born 2002 where I grew up watching TV and playing outside with friends and going to eachothers houses and playing video games or playing outside, but I also got to grow up playing Roblox every day I could since 2010 and playing online with my friends from school on CS:GO and meeting online friends and playing with them, building a friend group online and that's pretty much the only friend group I talk to now that there is no school to connect me to people my age and jobs are all filled with people wayy older than me. I think there is an amount of control we need to take over our lives from these algorithms and apps and sites and we need to take control before it gets any worse because we can see just how bad it's getting with the younger Gen Alpha generation who has grown up their whole lives on iPads and stuff and we don't want our children to grow up like that. Gen A is even losing their ability to speak properly in some instances and we can see a massive educational discrepancy in their generation too. I've spoken to people of "boomer" age and such like 40 years old and some of them even though technology wasn't as big back then had lost a lot of their life to things like weed and stuff, trying to block out the pains of life and only really came back to being sober and feeling life the way it's meant to be 20+ years later. Some people of that age even got suck in algorithm loops watching wayyy too many short and long videos wasting their life away taking in content, the only difference between them and us would be that now it's more common and prevalent due to apps like tiktok and youtube shorts and stuff becoming so big and their algorithms eating up our time and by extension our lives. We need to hold dear to us the idea of gaining control over the situation and having **discipline** if we are to overcome these issues as a generation.

    even though I'm from Gen Z, I kinda feel a bit of a millennial nostalgic mindset. or just come to be as a millennial thinker in general, granted the fact I have older sisters around my family, and since I would be around most of the things they were into, like VHS tapes, DVDs, random sibling bonding (like one of my sisters bonding with me over the Scrubs theme song), and much more. and back when the days felt longer... man how time flies.

    One of your thoughts didn't game me a rest, once I thought bout it. The "bored" thing. I remember until the early 2010's I did not have a smartphone or computer whatsoever. It was kinda of funny to go out with pals, but after a few years, after I got a home PC with internet, I have crossed one thought: I want to go play with my pals. But what are we gonna do? All of the things I thought were interesting at that time became obsolete with new ways to entertain myself - PC with some games and internet. It was more interesting to play some games, that go to my friend's house and go play together. It was wasnt an instant, but *a gradually building up feeling.* Then after some time, our hangouts became some sort of going out to someone's home and just staring at our phones for something interesting. And now, here we are in this brave new world, where you message some of your friends from time to time, talk predominately with your family, and just see other people around you walking silently in the city.

    I miss that bird, I don’t hear it anymore. I remember it being 7 but I can’t hear it being 17. Why doesn’t the air feel fresh anymore? I go outside and only know I’m outside, but it doesn’t feel like it. I don’t breathe in and breathe the air and feel the breeze, I just do it to survive. Only when it’s cold do I feel it. The living feeling is gone, I just feel like a drone, on autopilot. Going to school, coming home, doing homework which I hardly do because it feels like such a waste of time, yet that time is equally being wasted on my phone, viewing useless content that doesn’t help me, go to sleep, and wake up at abnormal hours to do it all again, feeling more drained as each day passes and somehow feeling more drained than the last, even if I’ve been doing it for a number of years. It doesn’t feel the same anymore. I wish I could just walk outside and do whatever but with all the recent stuff that’s happened, it doesn’t feel safe anymore. Not physically or mentally. I watch nature be stripped away for housing development and businesses, as if there isn’t enough to go around, yet people starve and live without a home. I can’t do something on my own without risking seeing myself on social media being made to look stupid. I can’t speak to someone without anxiety, fear of judgement and saying something stupid, therefore making friends with random people seem impossible. With all the carnage from the past few years and the internet exposing more and more people doing seemingly dumber decisions than the last, I can’t even walk along the street I’m growing up in without fear of someone making one of those decisions and risking my life. Or someone even pulling a gun on me or harassing me for my skin color. As far fetched as that is, it happens, too frequently, and people die. I wish for times like you had, I’d rather play Minecraft in the same room with my friends who live down the street from me than a server over the computer. It was all so simple then, but now I’m up at 3:16am, realizing I’d been mindlessly watching UA-cam, writing this comment, when I should be 5 hours into sleep. Goodnight.

    • @AmiciCherno
      @AmiciCherno 6 місяців тому

      Yup, that's real. If you're into drugs like weed or nicotine or anything like that, that's your first goal to tackle to get rid of. If you're into pornographic material and looking at girls lustfully, that's your next goal to tackle. Ultimately, if you have no issues with hard addictions like those, you need to focus on gaining control over your life by stopping the scroll, not moving on to the next screen, the next video, the next picture, because it will just continue endlessly. When you open a social media app or YT or something, try to put a mental limit on yourself that you're only going to go so far and then you are going to quit for the rest of the day and you won't open that app again till the next time you wake up from sleep. This is advice for myself too, because I have a problem with watching so many youtube videos opening so many tabs and then going through them all just to refresh the front page and stack tabs of new videos about new things that happened all over again. I hope this advice was relevant to you and helps you in any way.

    Millennials ruined it for everyone. Gen z was the last to experience this and then millennials raised Gen Alpha and influenced Gen Z. I blame it all on shitty millennial leadership and parenting as a generation. Gen Z is our only chance at a shift back. Hopefully we can help Gen A and raise them be better people.

      Naive and limited position. How have millennials ruined everything for everyone exactly? This is just another generation, which, by the way, was different in every country, in every family. There are no clear “millennials” endowed with clear attributes, just as there is no clear "generation z". These are just conventions that are useful in certain areas (some social sciences, for example) that the Internet, as usual, has endowed with zodiac-level value. Then, who raised the millennials? Did they materialize from the void into this world or maybe they are the same product of their time and the mistakes of previous generations, like every other generation? Another ten years will pass and a naive fool like you will try to prove how generation z has destroyed everything, and generation alpha is the last bastion of hope (there is already tones of videos, topics on how gen z is the worst - but is it?) . And so on. Your take is just brings nothing to the table and is built on a limited view of people and the world.

    • @AmiciCherno
      @AmiciCherno 6 місяців тому

      Exactly bro, the type of parenting we see millennials outputting on social media, how they are giving them iPads and not caring for their education or even simply disciplining them when they act out? We gotta be the generation to fix those things by raising our kids right and setting a great example both to generation alpha AND the generations that come after our kids into this world.

      Well yeah, but those were cell phones, with which you connected with people. maybe there were 1 or two games like snake and racing(if you're lucky). But the internet then was different. I still remember using the internet on those phones, and moving pointer with buttons, that was some hard work. and even then, the tariffs were like 50MB/month. The point was you were with your pals playing some games in rotation on that phone when someone lost, and you were together in one place. It's not like now with Discord and all of that stuff.
