Always United March on Mandolin and Tenor Guitar
Переглядів 96Рік тому
Here’s a great tune my grandfather wrote for the Valley Strummers band. It’s called “Always United March”. I always loved how the two melody parts weave around each other. It’s an excellent piece, designed for these stringed instruments. Recorded using @AustrianAudio OC16 #mandolin #tenorguitar #guitar #strings #march #counterpoint #webermando #gibson #martinguitars #austrianaudio

Trying different recording techniques on this same tune. The mics are a closer proximity and tried a few other things to get a better sound. Using and @AustrianAudio OC16 on the bass side and a @shure SM81 on the treble side. #buttonaccordion #accordion #folkmusic #auriapro #fabfilter #ezoldmusic #behringer #austrianaudio #shure

Hohner Club 255 C/F Demonstration
Переглядів 630Рік тому
A short demonstration of some of the different sound combinations on the Hohner 255. There are three switches on the backside of the treble keyboard for switching reeds on and off. The first switch is for M reeds that are on pitch. The second switch is for L reeds that are on pitch. The third switch is for the three other M voices which are M-, M , M . This gives quite a few options ranging fro...

A couple of my favorite tunes on the Hohner 255 Club. The Jubilee Clip by John Kirkpatrick and Danish Schottische. Use headphones or speakers for thumping Helikon bass. #accordion #buttonaccordion #folkmusic #hohner #helikonbass #ezoldmusic
Hohner 255 Club Accordion

This Hohner 255 club accordion is a blast to play. All five treble voices and Helikon Basses playing on this video. This accordion was refurbished by Scott Bellinger and he did an excellent job. It originally belonged to my friend’s grandfather and is in better shape now than it was when brand new. The tune is a Hambo (type of dance in 3/4) from Sweden that I don’t have a name for. #accordion #...

A couple jigs on a Hohner Corso I’ve been working on. It has a new set of Harmonikas reeds and a ninth bass button for C/F bass notes. #buttonaccordion #irishmusic #music #ezoldmusic #accordion

I still need to give this thing a final tuning, since the reeds have shifted a bit after the initial tuning (which is expected), but I haven’t been able to put it down long enough to do it. This music is a lot more fun with the ability to construct bass lines. #buttonaccordion #irishmusic #accordion #ezoldmusic
Hohner HA-114
Переглядів 6832 роки тому
Just finished fixing up this old Hohner Ha-114 melodeon. Could barely get a tune out of it before. Gave it a full tuning and did a bunch of mods to make it more playable. For some reason a previous owner had tuned the 5th button as a gleichton, so there was no 6th degree of the scale. Correcting that was the first order of business. Some of the other modifications include: 1. Button travel limi...
G/C Paolo Soprani
Переглядів 4342 роки тому
This beautiful and rare instrument fell into my lap via a trade for another instrument I overhauled a few months back. It’s a four voice Paolo Soprani (LMMM). I spent a while trying to decide what I wanted to do with it. It’s definitely an historic gem. Most accordion nuts, especially Irish music players, would convert this to a B/C instrument. I did consider converting it and still may in the ...
Hohner Burl Pre-Pokerwork A/D For Sale
Переглядів 2602 роки тому
For sale is a fully restored Hohner Burl Pre-Pokerwork accordion in standard A/D tuning. This accordion has the sought after steel reeds on zinc reed plates. It is tuned in the Viennese style along the curve (tremolo increasing a small amount as pitch rises) with two voices tuned in an equal M and M- offset from each pitch. This makes the perceived pitch (of the listener) sound in tune, as oppo...

What a sound !
How doi you get your Corso to sound so good ?
@@bonenfant96 In this case I refaced all the treble pallets and limited the button travel to make the treble mechanism quiet and smooth. I replaced the original reeds with Czech Harmonikas C#/D reeds and revalved and rewaxed. But, the consistent tuning of the reeds probably makes the largest difference to the listener.
@@TJEZOLD Yes the tuning. It doesn't sound 'Corso' at all. The sound is so great. Thanks for answering.
Great work. How did you install magnets to stop the register rods from slipping closed while playing?.
Great playing! This is a Castagnari Rik? Is your C# row a standard C# row? Is the bass layout a standard D/G with F#/Bm and A/E on the top? I'm looking to get a C#/D/G and trying to finalize what I want before I order. Thanks!
Thanks! Yes, this is a Rik. The extra basses are F#/C# and A/G. The F# and C# are especially useful for D and A chord inversions with the 3rd in the bass. I’d have to sit down with the instrument to remember what the C# row is, but it’s a fourth button start with the lowest few buttons being part of a low D scale. I might be open to selling this box if you are interested. Let me know, thanks.
Absolutely fantastic music, great playing and gorgeous sound. I love the club system, too, it's burutally versatile. I have a question: what are the notes on your lowest not on the outer (Bb) row? On mine it is (push/pull) C#/low G#. Thank You so much.
Very pretty tune and well played. That Huge Hohner has a glorious bass. Wow! BIG box!!!!
Thats good flute playing. They are expensive instruments now.
Please? What mic are you using on the bass side? It sounds really good. Did you plug it into an amp or record straight to a DAW?
Hi Peter, I used a Shure PGA98H on this setup. It is the version with a 3 pin XLR plug. I sometimes clip to the bass hand strap or the last bellows fold depending on the instrument size. It’s a great little mic. I plug it directly into the DAW via an audio interface. Thanks for listening!
@@TJEZOLD Thank you for informing me. I will get one. I get the bit about recording to a DAW and I have an interface but that only takes care of the audio. It must be quite a process to then sync it with the movie side? Are there any books on how best to do this? My liliput arrived today from Germany. It is like new! But needs revalving and rewaxing as the old wax has hardened over the decades. I have learnt how to do this myself so its not a problem Do you have a you tube channel? I would like to see and hear you play more. You are very accomplished and play the club model which interests me. Sorry to be a nuisance. Peter
@@petercane6376 looking forward to hearing your new Liliput! I use iMovie to bring the audio and video together. I’m sure there are many other apps to do it with. But, iMovie has worked well for me. Time consuming the first few tries, but gets easier as you go. I’m not sure if there are any books on the subject, but I bet there are UA-cam videos describing the process.
@@TJEZOLD Thank you so much. I have found your videos. You are one heck of a good flute player!!!! You got all the Irish accidentals in. Where are you from? What nationality are you? To learn Irish like that is commendable. You are a brilliant musician. Pete
Wow what a box!!!!! Its massive. Do not see many of these around. Thank you for explaining the club system to me. There is a lot to it. Can one play in any key on lets say a Hohner club 3M which I have?
Really nicely played. Thank you. I will try and learn them. My Lilput is on the way from Germany. Are they nice to play? Is yours still Club or De Clubbed? What do you recommend.... Keep it club or de club it. I can de club it myself. Any advantages in keeping it club? Thank you. Peter
Hi Peter, glad you enjoyed. Yes, I think they are really nice to play. It might take a few days to get used to the smaller buttons and spacing, but it is really fun to play. I prefer the club tuning, but it depends on how much time or patience you have to learn a new system. The club tuning allows full scales without changing bellows direction without sacrificing the ability to play the push/pull style if desired. The biggest difference is reaching for the 6th scale degree of the inner row, which only exists on the outer row on club system. Also, you’ll have the first degree of the outer row on the pull on the inner row. I find these differences and advantages make the club system much nicer for bass accompaniment and having options for playing style.
Well done. Sounds great. Nice duet from you both.
Fabulous demonstration of the range of the 255 played with finesse. Well done.
Thanks Scott!

sounds really good. The first one is The Morning Lark, right?
Thanks! Yes, the first one is The Morning Lark and the second is Seamus Cooley’s Jig.
Some sound.
That tune, whatever it is, is lovely.
Thanks! The first tune is Bonny Green and the second is Morgan Rattler
Wonderful 🎉
Thanks!
Nice playing. Are u really a left handed fluter? Coz u keep lifting ur thumb on ur left hand as u play the D I guess. Are u also a piper?
Thanks! I am a left handed flute player. Never really noticed I lift my thumb like that till you mentioned it. I play standard metal flute and the other woodwinds with hands in the proper positions, so it could come from that. I learned tin whistle left handed accidentally when I was young and that transferred to open hole flute when I picked it up. To late to swap hands now! All this and I’m actually right handed in all other endeavors.
Where do I find the music for this? Bought an accordion recently!
Nice tune and playing!!!!

gonna grab myself an accordion this christmas, awesome to see some welsh stuff. lush song, I love it. maybe in 6 months time i'll ask for the sheet music
Thank you!
Very nicely played, TJ! Hope I get to hear more!
Fair play. Are you playing long?
Thanks! I’ve been playing flute on and off since around 2000.
Great new reels!
These are great! Would love to see a full blown arrangement w/ other instruments - does Banish Misfortune play these tunes? Thanks for posting!
@TJezold! Great tunes man!!!
