    Why is PA not on the drop-down list for screenings? Does that mean no one has held one in the state?

    • @Screenagers_Movie
      @Screenagers_Movie 6 днів тому

      Hi @candacewilson-shroyer8334. Thank you for your question - If a state is not on the drop-down that means there are currently no (public) events scheduled there. If you wanted to see previous events there is a "Past Events" tab on that page where the same applies. We update the listings daily so do check back, and you can learn more about how to host our movies at your school or in your community on this page: www.screenagersmovie.com/host-a-screening Thank you ❤️

    Proof of Concept: After listening to this podcast I was filled with questions and concerns I had not previously considered, and a need to communicate with my child about the issues raised within. It's surely worth 30 minutes of time to have a frame for further discussion with your spouse and child about these issues arising within our digital age. Highly recommended.

    In schools in our country, most reputable schools advice the children to leave their phones at home. But in the case in the US, where danger can also happen in schools (school shooters and all that honestly doesn't exist here in my coumtry) it is important for children to be able to reach their parents.

    I hate when people talk about “banning phones in schools”. Be more specific, are they not allowed on school property? are they taken away during class? how do you handle the kids objecting? What ages are we talking? Lots of ways you can take away a phone.

      Thanks for your comment, you make a great point here. When it comes to schools successfully setting and enforcing policies - specific, easily understood and clearly communicated policies are key. @@Screenagers_Movie so I’ve read some of it and we’ll I’m not impressed. First off: if you really believe that kids are going to follow these policies then I have to applaud you on your optimism. My school implemented a “no phone in school” policy (before we where required to give away our phone during class but then got it back) where everyone was required to give the phone to a teacher at the beginning of the day. The results? Three kids in my class turned in their phone, a big decrease from earlier years. Letting them have a phone turned of in their bags simply wouldn’t work in most schools. Then we also have to understand that many countries schools (for older kids) are built with the assumption that kids will have their phones on them and that a LOT of policies will have to change. An example from my own school would be that we didn’t have any clocks outside so kids started turning up very late because they both don’t have a clock and have an excuse. I understand that phones aren’t ideal in schools but I really think that the best way to curb them is damage control and not a ban. -a person who went to a school that banned phones.

    “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” ~Viktor Frankl When we are thrown into disregulation, I like to couple the above quote with another quote from Dr. Daniel Siegel's close friend, John O'Donohue, He said, “The duty of privilege is absolute integrity.” For me this means-It's a privilege to be a parent. And when your child is 'throwing you off', you're duty is to keep your 'stuff' together. In doing so, you are serving them by (1) modeling and (2) helping to 'mirror' with you and regulate their inner space. Love this bite size interviews on the channel.

    Perhaps asking the why question before making judgement is a good idea. Like why can’t you do your homework if you’ve made judgement makes the kid confused if the parent has already decided they are lazy and need yelling at but they just want their child to feel even more horrible for not being able to give an answer the parent wants. But the why cant you do your homework question takes on a completely different meaning if the child feels they can talk to the parent and say where they are having difficulty.

      Nope thats not what happens, the child gives a clear articulate response and it kicks the parents ego and they fly off the handle. Why questions are doomed from the onset. First talk about the issue then when youve understood the latent cause address it. Why did u is an assignment of blame. If they answer they are dodging blame if they accept they are at fault to begin with. No good resolution there. Why questions should be used only when the punishment is already deserved.

    My question would be how successful are her kids in life? If they are successful then great maybe her point has merit. If not, why should we listen to anything she says? In my experience, there is a balance. You cannot tell your kids they are always amazing or always terrible. You need to be honest when they suck but not totally mean and hurtful. People can never get better if they never fail. There is no confidence in always being amazing.
