Northern Lights Storm 10 10 24
Under challenging sky conditions, I was able to record the 2nd strongest solar storm this year. Using a Fujifilm X-T3 & X-T5, GoPro 10 & 11, between 7:15PM and 8:25PM, I imaged the northern lights during peak storm intensity. Since reds are more difficult to see naked eye, I exposed each frame of this time lapse between 6.5 sec and 15 sec in order to brighten the aurora.
The curved landscapes are from the GoPro's. Each camera displayed the structures and colors differently. Taken from Cheyenne, Wyoming.

AURORA STORM!
Переглядів 2212 місяці тому
Between 8:30PM to 9:50PM (MDT) the first solar storm occurred impacting at a Kp7 index. Then between 10:50PM and 11:50PM, the 2nd & 3rd storm occurred (7 Oct 24). In each case, deep red aurora was clearly visible although considerably less bright than my GoPro cams captured. Exposures were 15s @ iso 800. RAW images were post-processed in Photoshop and AI noise reduction was applied. The small c...

An aurora storm rated Kp 7.5, G3.5, became visible at 9PM and peaked at 9:28PM MDT as seen from Cheyenne, Wyoming. I captured this brief display using a GoPro 10, 11, and Fujifilm X-T5. A day before full moon did not hinder the photography but visible sighting of the aurora was on the margin of visibility. I slowed the peak moments of the storm that lasted about 7 minutes as deep reds occurred.
Supercell hits Cheyenne, WY

On 8 June 2024, a large supercell thunderstorm developed over Cheyenne, Wyoming and for 2 hours it dropped 1 to 3 inch hail within 25 miles of my location. I was very fortunate to live on the northern edge of town and missed the hail. However, this clip clearly shows the greenish cast in the clouds that result from hail large. Although I received only 0.21 inch of rain, areas to my east-southea...
The Great Aurora Storm 10 - 11 May 24

This clip covers the period from 9PM to 3:05AM (10-11 May 24) from Glendo State Park, Wyoming. While aurora continued until dawn, heavy dew coated my lens and I was forced to call it the end of one of the best northern lights display that I have ever witnessed over the past 50 years! I used my Fujifilm X-T5 in fine mode with a Fujifilm 16-55mm f/2.8 lens at various f-stops. I maintained a stead...
Eclipse (8 Apr 24) Edited
Переглядів 1017 місяців тому
A frustrating day but managed to capture the essence of what this experience was liked. A nice family next to me brought their 3 very young kids who seemed to enjoy the experience as heard in the background. The moments just before and just after totality were seen and would have shown Baley's Beads if the clouds didn't interfere. Note how quickly the daylight returns when just a sliver of the ...

The Total Solar Eclipse of 8 April 2024 was about the haves and have nots. Cloudy vs Clear Skies. I observed the eclipse on the US-Mexico Border along the Rio Grande just north of Del Rio were I experienced 2 minutes 43 seconds of clouds. My camera recorded the approaching lunar umbra shadow from a picnic location in the Amistad Natural Reserve. The camera was set on manual exposure at iso 160,...
Inside Totality

Looking southwest as the moon's shadow approaches, I was able to capture the rapid lighting changes through totality. Despite overcast skies, a break in the clouds 20 seconds before the end of totality revealed the eclipse. Taken near Del Rio, Texas with 2 minutes and 43 secs of totality using GoPro 11 Pro Max in hyper super wide angle.

Mysterious Event???

On Sunday 11 Feb 2024 in Gresham, Oregon @ 7:49PM, the sky lit up followed immediately by an earth shaking explosive sound that set off car alarms. This was captured by my good friend who was nice enough to give me permission to upload these NEST security camcorder clips with the hope someone could explain what happened. I have researched weather conditions that night and discovered this event ...

The 14 Oct 23 Annular Eclipse tracked from Oregon to Texas. Although Wyoming was outside this path, Cheyenne achieved 81% of the sun blocked by the moon. It covered the sun enough to see a marked decrease in sunlight. Close-up images were captured by a Nikon P950. the last sequence shows the partial phase projected by means of a pinhole camera technique. Enjoy!

Hello, I am seeking permission to use this video in a distance learning program that trains fire investigators on fundamentals of lightning, how it is detected, how it contacts buildings and wildland fuels. Proper credit will be given to you in the contributor’s section of the program. I hope to hear from you soon.
Heavy Rain, and..... even some Hail? Great footage! Happy to subscribe!

Thanks! Always enjoy your pictures and videos.
So lovely to see your artistry and vision again. Many thanks. Hope you are well and peaceful.
At 4:51, what do you have your radius set to?
Amazing video. I also often take pictures of thunderstorms with a DSLR, and then make timelapses from the RAW. Can I ask you? Was the first part of the video shot with a Eufy S330? Or another Eufy model?
😮
આજે ખુબ ગરમી પણ વરસાદ નહી આવશે
Great video!! 🙌🙌

6:50. Больше всего ненавижу эти моменты. Красивая гроза, вся ее мощь скрывается под слойкой. Низкой осенней инверсионкой...
Fantastic Jan!
I got to see them, first time ever seeing them in my life, and what was so wild about it was that I was able to see it even under pretty bad light pollution. At its peak, even though you can't even begin to see things like the milky way where I live, you could still see all the colors and all the incredible flowing movement. I watched for a solid hour and a half, while my camera got stunning 6 second exposures, which I had it snapping away on a timer. I turned them into my first successful night timelapses.
Do you have the time lapse uploaded somewhere?
I just viewed your wonderful video. I think it is the best I have seen regarding the Northern Lights. You should have thousands of views. A true master piece!
