@KNOT_SHORT Sure, it can be a useful knot, but only in an application where the loop will be loaded. In any case where only the two ends will be loaded (eg. isolating a damaged section of rope used for life support) the false butterfly knot is inferior to the alpine version and must not be used for this purpose.

With a line that size I would tie a figure-8 knot at the end and pull the free end through the grommet until the figure-8 blocks the line.
