Bob Wing Maiden (quick highlight video)
Official BOB EXTRAVAGANZA video to follow soon showcasing all of my BOB model maidens.
This little wing needed some c.g. adjustments and needed to be launched perfectly flat but otherwise flew great!

Twisted Hobbies 48" EPP Mustang Red Baron Reno Racer 1200

Fellow pilot drone chasing my Red Baron was nice enough to give me the raw video footage from this beautiful August evening. Makes me really hate winter. This plane flies great. I have it pretty under-powered with the motor, battery and prop combination I'm using, but still such a joy to fly.
Captain Crackhead's Piaget Maiden
Переглядів 36Рік тому
Lovely day sometime over the summer. Captain Crackhead took to the sky with his new 3D profile plane, built with a custom modification of an upside-down wing. Always doing things a little bit different. But as you can see, it flew like a dream. Sit back and enjoy the aerial dance of Captain Crackhead and his new bird.

2nd plane in the Bob series. This one had some issues as well at first, but after some experimenting with the center of gravity I got it to the point where it's fun to fly. Bonus footage of the Durafly Goblin.

Adjusted the rudder throw and now it's flying great! I could've sworn it had bigger issues than that, but turns out that's all it was. Stay tuned for more Bob maiden flights with some of his other planes.
Bob's Scratch-built Low-wing Maiden

This is the first of the Bob series. I bought about 6 planes off this guy. He's been building planes for all of his retirement but recently suffered a stroke and wanted to get rid of his collection. He easily has 60 to 70 planes scattered throughout his house. This one was a simple 3 channel low-wing design and already had servos in it, so easy to get up and running. Although it didn't handle v...

I was determined to try and get this to take-off from a ground roll in grass. Larger wheels definitely helped, but it was still tough!

No luck rolling off the grass, so I'm in the market for slightly bigger wheels. Overall a really nice plane and very simple assembly. Runs on 4s 2200mAh.

Did you use lead to put it together? lol
A pillow-stuffed bass drum will not produce a natural sound!
@@Jazzfestn some people like a quick thud. Not a ringing timpani sound.
No way, I let you drive my car ! 🤣🚔🚒🚑
good video, thanks!
Light planes really dont need flaps on take off and they tend to make the plane tail light so when you land you need to bring them up asap and especially off grass
very nice i love all my wings and really like the bigger ones 1 to 1.5 m habe smaller and would like try a 2 .2 or bigger❤
Yeah, they are pretty fun. I never flew one this small. The bigger ones tend to float a lot better. Happy flying!
@@bill72pa u r so right like my gliders too 2,2m and bigger. liftinf our is so much fun laying ob your back

This was my first year there. Was fun. I was told it normal has a bigger turnout
It's definitely had bigger turn-out in the past maybe 10yrs ago, but this past year seems to be what will be the new norm. I think it was a little less than the year prior, but not different enough to say 2022 and 2023 were much different. Looking forward to September 2024 already!
Looks and flies great 👍
???????????????????????????????????????????
HUH!!!??
Get rid of the wheels and hand toss it,those wheels are going to look terrable hanging from it in the air.
Awesome!!! Thank you so much. Wondering is there a way to open up controller and install new cable from controller to jack and avoid the exterior joiner?
I DIDN'T LIKE THAT SNARE SOUND
Little bypes are always a challange but once the are dialed in their so much fun😅
Nice jet. Just looks stupid flying with fixed gear.
Doesn't bother me at all. Doesn't fly long so even with retracts the wheels would be down most of the flight.
My favorite thing in the world is someone else's ill-handling plane. 🤣 Nice saves 🍻
you didn't mention if this was the high performance model with the upgraded motor. The older model had the 3300kv motor, it was adequate but not very powerful, I ended up swapping to the FMS 3150kv motor, which gave it incredible power(like a completely different jet, verticals were great. I'm wondering how the new 2850kv motor that freewing replaced in the 64mm F22 and F18 would perform compared to the fms 3150kv. bigger wheels may help but would add considerable drag . to bad you dont have paved runway avaialble, because its very fun to see this take off from ground. of all my planes this one consistently gave me issues landing, sometimes landings would be perfect and sometimes bunny hop or stall, It must be brought it with speed and just a hint of flare so it touches on mains, otherwise you will popping the glue! and as you mentioned in the below comment, you definitely need to keep speed up in turns, this plane will stall in blink of an eye if you don't have the speed
It's the 4-cell with 12-blade fan, which I thought was the latest. I looked in the manual and it says 3300kv for the motor. Is it easy to check on the plane itself? And what about swapping the motor, how hard is that? I never really looked at it with regards to taking the motor out. I appreciate the information, as it sounds like that 3150kv may be much much better. Thanks!
I love MaineCoons. They are so lovely
Yes, they are great cats!
❤❤❤ u, FF&F!!!
aquarians are great because they have the best of both worlds, not too blocky sounding like evans. on the other hand I love the remo pinstripes on toms and snare more than anything, I still have one on my tom along with the aquarian reflectors I'm using. On the bass though I'm only gonna use something like an Evans EMAD and an attack orbit resonance (great combo btw..)
put right thrust in , to check, get height, cut throttle, then try right turn on glide , if successful, problem is motor thrust angle , I had same problem with my scratch built model,
It's very nicely built but really for a low wing design on 3 channel it does not have very much dihedral. And yaw + dihedral is what a 3 channel model needs for turning. As for the strong left turn you could add some right thrust. I'd also double check the wing with measurements rather than just by eye to see if there's some warping that is causing the strong left turn. With the low amount of dihedral it would not take much of a warp to pull it to the left like that. Or not much of a lack of right thrust. Hope you get it sorted. It's a darn nice looking model.
Thanks for the comments. It does have dihedral, and by eye it seems like it should be enough, but maybe it's not enough. Or maybe it's too much. Not sure. Stay tuned for part II and I'll include some better pictures of the dihedral and motor thrust angles. Although it did fly much better with larger rudder throws. It still tends to wobble in turns, and I believe you may be on to something with the dihedral.
I ordered this jet too. I've never flown a jet before. Do you have any suggestions for my first flight specifically for this jet?
I would say make sure the elevator is pre-angled per the instructions and leave the elevator neutral during your take-off roll. Definitely try to take off a hard surface runway and allow plenty of distance for it to build up speed. It's not very high on power so takes time to get up to flying speed. Then just be very smooth on the controls. Don't slow down too much in the turns or it will stall. Have fun!
I'm no expert. But I learned that the motor needs to be tilted 2 degrees to right and 1degree down. Great flight
Yeah, I'd definitely check/try that.
Your content is like a breath of fresh creativity. Love it!
Thanks brother!
Dude ya gots to throw it in an upwards motion like 45 degree angle and punch the throttle at least half way. That way you'll have time to get on that elevator and ailerons.
Ya. Read my description and I say I was launching way too slow. You don't need to throw up at 45 degrees, but just more throttle will do it. Thanks for watching.
You still have any of them?
No, we sold them a while ago.

Yea for the F6F. Love those war birds
I had an e-file F4F Flew at the park down the street. A Marsh Hawk got after it. I wasucky to get it back. When you slow down for the landing you are a sitting duck. I do near put the F4F in the fence.

Si afinaras bien los remo y con ahogadores se escucharán mejor que los aquarian
You'd have to be putting this together drunk to get the fuselage upside down! Nice review! 😵🍺
you should tune them first.....
Brand new heads stretch and settle over a couple weeks so I never spend too much time tuning brand new heads. This video was to compare the attack and timbre between heads, not specific notes. Thanks for your comment.
Stretch won't fix this. but, if (you're) local I'll tune them for ya"
@@SkitchPatterson1983 I didn't say stretch fixes it. Sorry you don't understand.
Very nice..! Good experience and feeling when you build something and it actually works!
Yes, I was very happy all day after accomplishing that. Especially since being self-taught.
Nice review. I have the same plane and yet to maiden it.. I was worried to fly on 3S but seeing you flying nicely on 3S makes me feel good. Funny how you hit the vertical rod on the ground!
Thanks, and good luck with your maiden! This plane and the H-King Corsair Lucky Gallon Reno Racer are a couple of my favorite planes!

@@bill72pa I thank you friend. See you soon for new adventures!😜👍
Did you simply mount the motor in front of the firewall instead of behind it? What motor did you use?
Yeah, just bolted a motor right onto the outside of the firewall, but I did make sure it balanced in the right spot. It was a motor I had laying around...D2830 1300KV on a 3cell battery. I'm thinking I may have just stalled it flying too slow.
