      I work with my friend’s band and they are struggling with this right now as well… they are amazing and incredibly talented AND have a decent pull and following, I’m surprised they haven’t been snatched up yet… but I guess they just have to keep working hard and hopefully they will get noticed

    Another very relevant video. You make good points that others do not. In my effort to try and educate myself I have watched my fair share of these type of "industry insiders" videos. There is definitely some great info out there but you don't dance around the info and not reveal ways to move forward like many others seem to do. Thank you for teaching me what an E.P.K. is and how it is a paramount in revealing yourself to opportunity. You don't know what you don't know I suppose. I'm sure I can speak for most, as artists we rarely are thinking of promoting ourselves unless of course the reason one creates is to be famous or make money. It's a curse of an irony, lol. Thanks again for some great info, I feel fortunate to have stumbled across your channel. Take care 👍👍

    I’ve had my own label for a little over two years and the hardest part for me personally is having enough funds to market, create, and expand the label. Do you have any tips as far as funding or obtaining business credit?

    • @indiemusicsuccess
      @indiemusicsuccess Рік тому

      Great questions. Some of the answer depends on the type of label you have, genre, how many artists, etc. Please feel free to post a link to your label site here if you're comfortable doing that. Regardless, there are plenty of ideas for funding and all that. Some are obvious (crowdsourcing campaigns that the label organizes for specific artists/releases, taking a small business loan, etc.) and some are not so obvious (partnering with a small business in a completely different space that may wish to target the same demographic that your label targets, such as a car insurance broker that might want to target your audience, etc.). Example - I once worked with a music promotion company that partnered with an apparel company so that when you bought a pair of pants from the apparel company (for example), you would get a playlist of the up-and-coming artists. Not all collabs like this involve money changing hands, but there are ways to structure them where you receive funds and can use to market and promote, and the donor/investor/supporter gains something of value from you. But I also highly recommend looking at platforms that haven't quite been ruined by marketers and/or artists. POLITICS ASIDE - apps like Clubhouse provide new opportunities to gather crowds around art. Using UA-cam to build the buzz around artists and their stories, instead of their music (specifically), which can then build an audience that points people to the music. Using TikTok not for dancing and pranks, but to tease the artistic process in creative ways that engages audiences and then points them towards the music. All of these are *free* tools but most artists and most startup labels use them to simply push music. To me, that's the mistake - fans get tired of always being pushed to music. They want a story. Use those platforms to tell stories about artists and music. Use them to create conversations around art. Authentically build a buzz around people and stories, and the translation to streams and downloads happens. Try some of that?
