    I got the limited edition red version of these in maybe 2017. They were my go to for any longterm listening for a long time. But in the pandemic, working from home, I had to wear them for longer stretches than ever before. Over a week of 8 hour days the clamp force got to me, and I started looking for something more comfortable. Now, much as I love them, I think there are better value headphones in the same price range. If you want max comfort, I recommend the Rode NTH-100. The Alcantarra pads really are incredible on hot afternoons. But if like me you need something portable, the AKG K361 is a great all rounder. Both, to me, sound better than the M50X as well. That said, I’m very glad to have them still, and they will always stay in my collection. They have lasted very well despite the battering I’ve put them through, and if I’m ever recording and really need to make sure I have a good sound, they are so familiar that I always turn to them.

    I own a pair of M50x, and tbh they are very overrated. the bass sounds a bit hollow and doesn't hit that hard. the mids/treble are also a bit wack for me. the comfort is meh because with the stock pads my ears touch the plastic. I swapped the pads for some perforated brainwavz ones, and then they just felt overly big and bulky on my head. they are very reliable and built like tanks, that's probably the only good thing I'd say about em. I much prefer my n700nc m2 (which are sadly now discontinued, although I got em for £50 barely used). it's no competition really, and the AKGs have the positive of being wireless (I use them to mix music and listen to music, and I trust them much more than the M50x). and while not having lots of low end extension, I honestly think koss' ksc75 is better for listening to music than the M50x (especially when you get yaxi pads+put them on a headband). both of em also don't suffer from the m50x's flaky headband issue as well, which is pretty nice :)

    • @orlock20
      @orlock20 10 днів тому

      These are neutral headphones. Technically they are for mixing. The reason why the frequencies are bad is whatever you are listening to is poorly mixed. Since you don't like any of the frequencies, what you are listening to is probably overly compressed.

    • @elliottsalt
      @elliottsalt 10 днів тому

      @@orlock20 actually no, neutral headphones don't sound bad. The sennheiser hd600 and hd650 (the hd6xx is just an hd650) are neutral headphones originally intended for studio use and are loved in the audiophile community, whereas the M50x are not. Plus, when looking at graphs the M50x don't measure as flat as the HD600 do (and on the two graphs of them that I looked at the M50x had pretty horrendous channel imbalance). I also know neutral isn't boring because I have speakers that I have EQd to be dead flat off of anechoic measurements, and they sound miles better than the M50x. The N700NC M2s I mentioned do have more subbass than the M50x (they are not bass canons though), but they are tuned smoother above 100hz. And don't have channel imbalance.

    • @orlock20
      @orlock20 10 днів тому

      @@elliottsalt Those headphones cost 3 times as much as the M50X. At that price, they should be better.

    • @elliottsalt
      @elliottsalt 10 днів тому

      @@orlock20 true, but just because something costs more doesn't mean it is better. There are a few examples in where expensive things are not worth buying or just plain bad. The KSC75 I mentioned, while not having much bass extension and being a different form factor, are still a headphone that cost 5*/4* less than the M50x yet have better channel matching between drivers and a smoother response than the M50x. I'd make a point that from 100hz and up the KSC75 graph better, and only get better when you put them on a headband+give them yaxi pads. from owning and using both for a long time I prefer the KSC75 (I say this as someone who *really* likes bass) My original point wasn't that you should buy the HD6x0 series over the M50x, they are 2 different headphones that do different things for different people. My point was that being neutral is not an excuse for being a bad headphone. If you want an alternative that's around the same price then I'd go for an AKG k361/k371 or the rode NTH-1 as they are just outright better.

    • @AustinDavisYT
      @AustinDavisYT 21 день тому

      Got it installed just fine with plenty of space. Kind of awkward to tighten once you get everything set but nothing too bad, just takes a lot of rotations since you cant really get your wrist down there to twist. But overall has plenty of space to mount and move one around wherever you need. Hope this helps!

    • @AustinDavisYT
      @AustinDavisYT 15 днів тому

      There is not a lot of room on the sides. Toward the front of the desk you could for sure attach one on the side but toward the middle and the back on the sides, The supports get in the way. Depending on your mount, you might be able to attach one but the one that I have myself wouldn't have enough room.

    hey Austin, I'm an avid editor trying to learn premiere. in avid if hold down shift and move your playhead the audio scrubs. release shift it stops. this makes it way faster and easier than having to constantly toggle scrubbing on and off when making hundreds of little micro audio edits throughout the day. does something like this exist in premiere? thanks

    • @AustinDavisYT
      @AustinDavisYT 24 дні тому

      To my knowledge I don't think anything like that does exist within Premiere right now. The closest you can get is using a keyboard shortcut to turn it on and off. I believe the default Premiere shortcut for it is Shift+S but I currently have mine set to Shift+Y. This allows you to turn it on and off without having to go into the menus all the time so still very useful but not a hold down and release function like you're describing. Hope this helps! And best of luck learning Premiere!

    How long did it take to ship? Are you having any small issues after using it for a couple weeks? Does the magpad ruin moving your mouse or using a pencil? I’m thinking about purchasing this desk but 1k is a heavy investment HAHAHA. I want to make sure it’s quality and will last! Video was very helpful I’m now leaning more towards buying it 👍

    • @AustinDavisYT
      @AustinDavisYT Місяць тому

      It took just over a week for me to get my unit. Roughly 8 days if I remember right, that could vary based on your location. No issues yet, just absolutely loving it! The magpad has been great and doesn’t hold up my mouse a bit. Haven’t done any writing on the pad itself yet just on notebooks with hardbacks but I wouldn’t see how it would interfere at all. The one thing I will say is use a coaster for any drinks as condensation of any kind likes to stick around on the pad quite easily. It’s definitely a hefty investment but one well worth it imo. Standing desks are nothing to cheap out on as I’ve seen numerous cheap ones that wobble and break inside of a year which is why I waited so long to pull the trigger. The cable management is probably my favorite feature. Having the power feed through the desk itself into a nice concealable tray is absolutely fantastic. Appreciate you tuning in and glad it was helpful! Hope you end up snagging one yourself!

    • @AustinDavisYT
      @AustinDavisYT Місяць тому

      Back when I worked in a department store I was right next to the turntable section. To tell the good ones apart from the bad the biggest and easiest way to tell is price. Again I'm far from a turntable expert but approaching it from a very entry level position, when it comes to all in ones, I'd say your floor price is $200. That is what I observed when working in that department store. Once you got to that price point most of the units actually sounded pretty good. Everything else was pretty much junk. The one in my video sounds way better than any of the all in ones that were ever in that department store which is why I actually enjoy it quite a bit. Whatever unit you're looking at, definitely do your own research prior to purchasing. Not sure if that helps answer your question at all but hopefully it helps in some way!

    I bought my XL version of the desk about a month ago, along with the chair when they were on sale. At the time, their wasnt too much difference in price between the standard and XL version (about £50 i think), both are great products. Same setup process. The one thing i would add is that once the desk is assembled, you have to go through a calibration process of the desks motors before you can start using it. Not sure if that is just for the XL version or if Secret Labs have changed the motors / software, since then but it only took a few seconds to do. I also bought the cable management kit and the headphone mounting kit, those are also great products. I've been messing around with my setup and may get one of their monitor mounting kits. The last thing i think its worth mentioning and i know that a few other makes of movable desks also have this, is the anti impact capability the desk has, that was a big plus for me as i have my towers underneath the desk. It stopped me from slam dunking and crushing my towers when i was messing around with the height adjustment! ;) - great product and good video :) 👍

    I'm happy that I revived my ATH-M50X from 2014, it's 10 years old, crazy, still great to this day. I changed the earpad and paired it with FiiO BTR15 Bluetooth DAC/AMP (best purchase I made yet), stick it to the left driver with strong outdoor-grade double tape, plugged it with a very short cable. I get clear and powerful audio source from DAC with great latest HiFi LDAC Bluetooth connection (in Windows, I have to use Alternative A2DP Driver to unlock the LDAC and aptX HD). As a bonus with FiiO BTR15, I can tweak the frequency response to match my preference and compensate for the change of earpads that alter the sound profile, to match the original M50X sound profile.

    I liked the video and your natural style of presentation, feels like an actual review not just enumerating the specs, well done. Subscribed.

    J'ai un M50xBT2, je reconnais volontier qu'on peut trouver mieux en terme de qualité sonore dans cette gamme de prix mais, et tu le dit bien dans cette vidéo, avec ce casque on paye aussi une qualité de fabrication : c'est solide, robuste, on peut le maltraiter vraiment fort et il fonctionnera toujours. Pour un usage quotidien, dans les transports en communs, en voyage etc.. la solidité ça compte vraiment ! Je ne peux pas en dre autant pour d'autre marque (n'est ce pas Beyer ?)

      I did my best to translate this but I apologize if i got anything wrong, I agree tho! The build quality is great on these things and a big reason why I love them. I haven't tried the BT versions but i've always been curious to see how they compare to the wired ones. The M50X's are HARD to beat so i'm sure the BT ones don't sound near as good.

    I'm an audiophile, personally i've tried many TWS buds and these sound the best. Most people associate "normal" with bad. And i think this is what you're doing. Most TWS buds I've tried are either way too muddy or the treble overpowers anything. APP2 are the only ones that have neither of these problems, and I love them. I respect your opinion, just I find that the more you explore audio as a whole the more you'll appreciate the airpods pros.

      I respect the way you went about this comment a ton haha. Also a very good point about associating normal with bad. Maybe I can revisit them in the future or try out whatever Apple has planned for the 3rd gen of the Pros. Hoping those will fit my ears better because the ecosystem of my other Apple products with the Pros was unmatched.

      @@AustinDavisYT Glad you saw my comment! Incase you were talking about the 1s, i think the 2s are far better. And im hoping the 3s follow the same path.

      Thank you, glad I could help you in your decision! My current room set up is definitely not ideal 😂 Having a closed office room would help tremendously, I’m in more of a den right now. Appreciate the feedback! I might see about getting some boards up soon!
