I think the boys clearly loved Peter and were probably protective of him and I agree that young Peter (and the boys) gets characterized poorly but I also do think he was like the "additional member" to the trio. That's to say he goes along with their schemes and bullying bc of hero worship, he is jealous of them, he has imposter syndrome, and he can't really stand up for himself. I could see him using James and Sirius' friendship as clout in school, probably wouldn't have accepted Remus without James and Sirius' input, and knew that an aspect of their friendship was his social preservation. He would be a Snape lackey if he had gotten sorted into Slytherin. I assume after the war because he isn't spending almost all of his time with the marauders (who seem to be the only reason he's in gryffindor since he admires the traits they have) their good influence isn't as strong and he needs to find someone else to protect him.

I think most of the things that I would add is about Barty, actually it is canonly said by Sirius that Barty wasn't confirmed to be a death eater and to have tortured Alice and Frank before going to Askaban but he was just with Bellatrix when she was arrested. And also the fact that as a last wish before her death, her mother asked Barty Sr to help him escape so she takes his place in Askaban thx to Polyjuice and then Barty Sr imperios him 24/7 so his house elf has to feed and clean him for the next 12 years (until the goblet of fire) when he kills him and actually becomes a death eater (all that is canon)

Tonks and Remus feel like a relationship of necessity to me. Like they both needed someone and they both wanted a legacy and so it works. Like to me Tonks is pan and Remus is Gay and Tonks knows and they just needed that happiness even if it was just for a moment. It’s different with Jegulus to Jilly like James is bi in my headcanon and so it works normally. But I’m also a crackhead sooooo.

In a bunch of the fanfics I read Pandora is the ultimate neutral zone between all the character dynamics. It doesn’t matter who’s fighting if Pandora says to stop you do. It can lead to very funny scenes like when Sirius and Regulus were about to get into a fight and Pandora just walks up and they both immediately desecelate. Or like one time Barty hurt her feeling on accident and every single person in the lunch room in the scene turned to look at him like he was garbage it’s wonderful because shes definition of indiscriminately nice. She’s also commonly a seer.

honestly i didnt understant the love for marylily until the one and only just lovers, where we see it happening from both james' perspective as well as lily's later on spoilers, in case u wanna read it just the idea of lily seeing her and mary as this parallel version of wolfstar where in this case they dont actually end up happy and together? and the angst of james being in love with regulus while lily was in love with mary, and then them being together? tbh i dont reaaally like that one bc of how it dismisses jily, but this just creates more pain which we do like i feel like just lovers does this great job at also exploring the girls and the most common wlw ships, while creating an almost angst free universe and thats just great

as an AVID jegulus shipper(i would kill for them) but someone who also enjoys jily and loves harry i came up with my own timeline that sounded the most canon to me was: james loves lily, she hates him, james meets regulus, james loves regulus, they secretly get together, regulus does his death eater thing, james and lily end up together, regulus "dies" but acc faked it and goes round killing horcruxes, james and lily have harry, regulus reveals himself as alive and everyone kills voldemort, james and regulus get together, lily gets with mary, HAPPY EVER AFTER

i've seen people talk about, that dumbledore also knew about peter being the secret keeper, but doesn't say anything to anyone because he knows about the prophecy (and potentially the horcruxes) and he needs harry to be as "vulnerable" as possible so he can use him when voldemort comes back. this doesn't add much to what you've already covered, except another reason to hate the man

I used to read marauders era fics in like 2017 but stepped back from the fandom for a long time because of certain authors. I recently fell head first back into the fandom and so much has changed I was genuinely lost trying to figure out if I’d just forgotten fannon or if it was just different. It’s fun seeing how much the fandom has grown and I love seeing the girls more now
