[00:00] - I. Danse Russe (Russian Dance) [02:38] - II. Chez Pétrouchka (Petrushka's Room) [07:26] - III. La semaine grasse [16:40] - Interview with Sokolov
There are literally dozens of microphones in direct view during the whole video - and what we get is a mono track of the piece? That's sad.
Que nivel.. un mostro del teclado
Orribile l'Attacco😮😮
mannered and laboured!
That climax at 25:00 is to me the most beautiful piece of music ever written
We see Miquel Barceló’s ceiling at the UN headquarters in Geneva. We hear the GOAT. You must not miss hearing him live at least once in your lifetime. Be prepared for 6 encores.
This performance is an undeserved blessed treat to all of humanity, to be treasured forever. Such a powerful interpretation, a monument to Sokolov's skills and dedication to music, and such an accomplishment for his memory and quite old fingers!
Too much artifice for Beethoven.

How different from the CD I own of Sokolov playing it (a live from Bolzano). Do you have a venue and date for this? Thanks!
❤❤❤❤I have always loved Grigory Sokolov (I am 77 years old). He is my favorite living pianist but there are other excellent pianists (dead or alive) that I also appreciate very much. Everyone has their own style. French : J'adore Grigory Sokolov depuis toujours (j’ai 77ans).
Best Kreisleriana. No doubt.
Beethoven is unique and naughty
Everything is so perfect!!!❤❤❤
I like his playing of Op23 no4 so much. Deeply touched in my heart, nearly cannot breath.
Wonderfully how he perfectly executed that passage at 47:45, that on occasion so bedeviled Richter.....BRAVO from Acapulco!
Kreisleriana by R.Schuman in too slow motion.

Bro, how you do it!!!!😂😂❤❤
@@benharmonics legend
One of the greats
An under appreciated pianist who continues to enthrall audiences.
Genius pianist! How he is able to master such a vast repertoire is beyond me.
Growing in the USSR. I never came across this great soul. Sokolov is not only the best, but he seems to live in music. He doesn’t appear in any interviews either.
I saw him and met him 25 years ago and was a sublime artist then and he might be even better now. He is as good as it gets.

What's the deal with that physical space though. Feels like he went to play for congress or delegates. Is this a meeting room they used as concert room because of the pandemic?
😊😊
It was still the time of masked men and psychopandemic.
Without question very nice playing. However, Mr. Sokolov doesn't, in my opinon, reach the depth of Klara Würtz as far as Schumann works are concerned. I completely agree with the opinion given in The Gramophone re complete works of Schumann; namely, it is stated that Klara Würtz's take on these pieces is probably the best interpretation out there. Unbelievable poetry, beauty and humanity in her playing ...
I love Schumann
Grigory Sokolov continues to study piano for 10/12 hours a day. He lives for music, to which his devotion is extraordinary; he deserves all our admiration, as lovers of classical music and art.
Thank you Evgeny Kissin ! :prayer-emoji:
meraviglioso!
I heard Sokolov play in Leipzig last year. They would not let him go...he gave 6 encores...
He always gives 6 encores!
This is still by far one of the best live performance over the decade. I kept returning to this vedio over and over again. Everytime I discover something new. This is what you will get from listerning music played by the legend
Beautiful concert - I've watched it a couple of times on the superb Mezzo tv network over the last two years but am happy to find it here! 💓
😍😍😍😍😍
Beautifully musical, introspective and accurate. But slow enough at times to keep the audience asleep.
Me suenan lentos.
Could Liszt really have been greater than Sokolov? How does he do it? Perhaps we should start with the question, "How does he remember it all?" Some really smart Word Person should (at least try to) create some new Superlative adjectives to describe The Things That Grigory Sokolov Can Do with a Piano. Putting together a "Best of Grigory Sokolov" collection would be easy. Simply include everything that this Musical ÜberMensch ever recorded..
this is actually really impresive ,he plays the opening with one hand 1:07:45
I have never heard Kreisleriana played in such a charismatic and, at the same time, convincing way.
Would you be so kind translating this interview into french or English?
This video is a treasure. Something to be celebrated and honoured in the name of Stravinsky as the Sokolov genius caught the composer’s genius at his magnificent playing.
i have such a visceral reaction every time I hear him..the first note brings tears...always.
