Another little milly milly job
This part goes in the hull of a jet boat and is the water intake. It was cut from one boat and to be welded on the new one, some materia needs to be removed.

    Nice job Jay. I did one on a Small Block 400 last year. Not something you have to do all the time. Nice to be able to do it when you need too. Have a good day.👍

      Thanks Ed. Definitely not a common job. Even less common with the limited production 400 blocks. Not sure I ever had to do that to a 400 yet.

    Your truing fixture is defintielely put .010. There is no way a mass production jig at Chrysler would be out that far.

    • @joey66436
      @joey66436 2 місяці тому

      I would trust the jig. You don't know the history of the engine, it may have been decked by a shop badly in the past, and even if it wasn't not everything that left the factory was 100%

      This comment just proves you have never measured blocks before

    • @whiplashmachine
      @whiplashmachine 2 місяці тому

      @@joey66436 I absolutely trust my fixture. I have inspected it with multiple machines to ensure it is true. I am the first one to manipulate this block. The fact is was out roughly 0.010" over that distance from the centerline means very little to the production blocks. They vary greatly and the older they get, the more out to lunch they become. Some of the Chevy engines from the 60's and early 70's are out so far, you wonder how the intake gaskets even sealed. By late 70's, the blocks start to measure much better and by late 90's they are usually pretty damn close. But still not as good as they could be and since I need to run a dial accross the decks anyways for my setups, might aswell try to pin it ss close as I can

    What kind of concentricity do you get with the master HS? I have an old model 019 and im gonna get the ball drive 3d type tooling even though i know it wont do a good job. I do have an old sioux valve grinder complete with the cabinet and stone setup for touching up the seats. The 019 has the air locks and they are very problematic when trying to center up. What locks the rollover fixture to the bed on the master HS?

    I put an 215 Rover in an Opel Commodore coupe' 1972. When i have passed the Swedish car inspection i switched the 2 SU carburettors for an Weber 40/40 from 3 litre Ford engine. It worked very well, better mileage and better performance. Later i put in an Caddy 500.. different story.

      Thanks Ed. It elimiates two things I always disliked during rod reconditioning. First was inconsistent housing diameters after grinding split lines and the occasional rod you realized you didn't grind enough off and have to take apart and grind more. Now after a grind the whole set is quite consistent diameters.
