"Ich habe im September 2022 im Rahmen des Projekts "polar sound" das Stück "polar (glow in the dark)" für Gitarre und Soundfile geschrieben. Das Projekt wurde von Stuart Fowkes im Jahr 2022 (Cities and Memory) in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Alfred-Wegener-Institut/Helmholtz-Zentrum für Polar- und Meeresforschung initiiert.
Musiker:innen waren eingeladen eine Komposition zu einem wissenschaftlichen Field Recordings aus dem Polareis zu schreiben, aufzunehmen und sich so künstlerisch mit den Themen Nachhaltigkeit und Klimawandel in ihrer Disziplin auseinanderzusetzen. Ursprünglich handelt es sich bei dem Field Recording um eine zweiminütige Aufnahme aus der Arktis von seismischen Airshots. In regelmäßigen Abständen von etwa 12 Sekunden sind diese tiefen Unterwasserexplosionen zu hören. Seismische Airshots werden zur Erkundung des Meeresbodens nach Öl- und Gasvorkommen eingesetzt. Die explosionsartigen Shots werden von Schiffen aus gesendet und und die Echos mit Hilfe von Unterwassermikrofonen ausgewertet. Nicht nur die Ausbeutung von Ressourcen, sondern auch sondern auch die Suche nach ihnen hat zerstörerische Folgen für das Meeresleben." (Jannis Wichmann)

I read a couple of inconsiderate/ negative comments here, and I hope you've either disregarded them, or laughed them off. Nice to see the majority of people showing respect and recognition though. This is an incredibly complex piece from one of the worlds best acoustic guitar players... and you've done an incredible job to get this down. Obviously a lot of dedicated learning, and frustration involved, but to play it like you did... hats off to you man. An incredible achievement, really well done!

Hello, I have an old vintage kontragitarre... Made by Alois Zimitku ..do you have any information about the luthier? also what kind of strings do i instal for such a guitar ? and what tuning? steel strings were on it..should i put new nylon or steel ones? thank you

What are the effects you used?
I use Guitar Rig 5 with many effects, like: Reverbs, Delays, Octaver and for the solo part a LoopMaschine and "Psychdelay by Guitar Rig". In this piece you can not use enough Hall an Reverb ;-)

Great performance; thanks for sharing. Could you possibly explain how you prepared the guitar? I am a music teacher and I'd like to show my students your video and discuss what you did. Thanks.
Thanks for listening and your question! Great Idea to discuss this special preparation in class. (I did this once and the students composed peaces for prepared guitar) I use different kind of brackets. E.g. small wooden brackets, as you can see in the video. The elastic band prevents the brackets to collide, and if they do the sound is muted/ damped. The position of each bracket is measured to mute different overtones. In the piece "Totem Anchestor" (listen to it at my band camp page simongutfleisch.bandcamp.com/...) I use alligator clips (metal). They sound like bells and rings very long. (Listen to the end of the piece) In some other pieces I use small stripes of plastic cards (like credit cards) and place this stripe between the strings. You can see several kind of preparations in my video with the Kontragitarre. ua-cam.com/video/CyImjdVQgsI/v-deo.html And the electric guitar on top is just clean, without any preparation or effects. I'm really interested how your students react.

As part of the "presenting music" portfolio, we'd love to perform "A Room, by John Cage, arranged by Simon Gutfleisch," but we aren't sure where to start preparing the guitar. Thanks - we'll also watch your suggested videos tomorrow in school.
@@amykeus7219 The position of the brackets is something I tried on my guitar, were it sounds best for me. John Cage measured the position on every piano string very detailed, but we have got only six strings on the guitar, so not every note can be exactly prepared like John Cage suggested.
