The Alamo - Pass the Taters
Davy discusses how he came about his habitual avoidance of eating potatoes and taters.

DAVY CROCKETT: Gracias. Here you go, son.
ISSAC MILLSAPS: So, Davy, all your Indian fightin'... you ever get into a scrape like this?
DAVY CROCKETT: I was never in but one real scrape in my life, fella.
ISSAC MILLSAPS: Yeah, but you was in the Red Stick war.
DAVY CROCKETT: Yeah, it's true, I was in that. I sure was. I was just about your age when it broke out. The Creeks, uh, boxed up about 400 or 500 people at Fort Mims and, uh, massacred every one of 'em. 'Course this was big news around those parts, so I up and joined the volunteers. I did a little scoutin', but mostly I, I just fetched in venison for the cook fire, things of that nature. Well, we caught up with those redskins at Tallushatchee, surrounded the village, come in from all directions. Wasn't much of a fight, really. We just shot 'em down like dogs. Finally... what Injuns was left, they crowded into this little cabin. They wanted to surrender... but this squaw, she loosed an arrow and killed one of the fellas, and then we shot her... and then we set the cabin on fire. We could hear 'em screamin' for their gods in there. We smelled 'em burnin'. We'd had nary to eat but parched corn since October. And the next day, when we dug through the ashes, we found some potaters from the cellar. They'd been cooked by that grease that run off them Indians. And we ate till we nearly burst. Since then... you pass the taters and I pass 'em right back.

"We caught up with them at Fort Wilderness..."
The 7 years war in the Americas was very brutal.
Benjamin Martin's story is based off of the Siege of Fort Loudon not Fort William Henry. The Siege of Fort Loudon was small but violent and brutal.
Well thats fkd up😂 i was hoping for a funny story based on the title😭😂😂
you really made me cry, as i listened and thought about my vacations with my girlfriend.. this is really a good piece. thank you for uploading it.. really !!
You're very welcome. A similar experience partly influenced the creation of this piece.
Dude, get back to creating. I keep coming back here and to the remixed version of "Stone in Focus" non-stop. I absolutely love these vibes and I hope you’ll think about it. It would be amazing to hear a remix by Lorn or Clams Casino from you too!
I appreciate the encouragement and compliments. I'll look into some more pieces and see what I can do in the future, as I wasn't aware anyone was interested.

Where is the fort wilderness movie ?
This scene is gold. The cherry on top would have been if Ben said “I was drunk and foolish enough to tell her…but I never forgot the look in her eyes.” And then told the story.
This story is a great example of the dirty horrors of war, the devil is in the details.
And this was a true story.
Listening to it at a random 05:34 AM Sunday hits different, way different...
Okay- the rest of the story. The film skipped to first part of the incident upon which this scene is based. Yes- the Cherokee massacred many of the English troops after they left Fort Loudon. However, this was not long after the English murdered 16 Cherokee hostages at Fort Prince George near Keowee, SC. They killed by the panicked garrison during an attempt to move them, upon orders of the new governor. It was only after that did the Cherokee attack and massacred some the British garrison of Fort Loudoun near Chota (Itsati). However, many Cherokee leaders rescued some of the British (which Mel failed to mention). This conflict did not end until 1761.
A lot of people don’t realize the actions of the tribes were reactions of what was done to them such as scalping that was a white man thing. it was a brutal and sad time during the days of that era for my people the Lakota and for others
I don’t get it
imagine youre home alone at night and then suddenly you hear this
So proud of Benjamin for telling his son the truth. The French and Indian War was one of the most brutal wars fought in North America. You can hear the agony in his voice when he tells Thomas to put away his red coat uniform and his voice icily quavers when he tells Gabriel what happened at Ft. Wilderness. 🇬🇧 🇫🇷
Gabriel tells Ben to stay the course and that there will be a time for revenge, not at the sake of their mission. Yet when Gabriel’s wife gets murdered he gives in to the same lust for revenge and retribution that Benjamin gave into during his youth.
“My sons were better men” that line kind of rings true here Gabriel tells him to focus on the cause like a true solider
Things you don't tell when your son is old enough
Benjamin was trying to protect Gabriel from the truth: that men DO commit atrocious acts.
The whole movie Benjamin believes that the sins he committed in the French and Indian war had finally caught up to him

I didn't realize there was soo much carnage in the French & Indian War that lasted 7 YEARS! 😳
Fiction
It’s fiction, but all wars, even the most justified wars in history have violence and meaningless death. This scene highlights that innocents suffer the most in war, and men who fight have to deal with finding out just who they really are inside and what they are capable of and living with it. War is one of the worst parts of life to live through.
@@MartinStojanovic-jt6nv Fort Wilderness might be a fiction, but that war was brutal. Like any other.
@@earlofsmeg French and Indian war is the war betwen two empire who dominate North America,I know is a brutal especially in frontier in Pensilvanya, norhern New York and great lakes region.

When you realize Martin was Tavington before Tavington was.
Tavington is a reflection of the man Martin once was, what he COULD have been if he'd not woken up to the inhumanity of his deeds.
@@jackmcmorrow9397 I know i'm just realizing that
Don't you dare! Don't you dare compare Martin and that " Azov " butcher. Martin was wrong- but he was justified. Tavington is a monster.
you’re so wrong man

How these words was made? What tts is it?
It looks like it was done in "Talk it" with the whispered option
DA BRIVIDI............chiudere gli occhi e trovarsi su uno scoglio, davanti alla riva con le onde del mare che s'infrangono, mentre la pioggia cade copiosa durante un temporale...........e la musica che titrascina lontano da tutto il dolore........................
is this a tts voice?
You'd need to ask Andreas Rönnberg.
I think it is, I’ve heard it in horror videos and stuff. I think it’s a old program on windows that uses tts to sing or talk
It's fast hub tts with whisper mode. Just put the speed of pronunciation at 170, and it has to be three dots between each word, like "come...on...over...here"
thank you very much@@markgolubenko5036

impressive
As a child whom was instructed to be quiet and sip my methylated spirits, I can relate to this clip.
Lolol this was iconic when I was 10 man we used to say this non stop at the table lol
One of my favorite lines from any movie.
As the only person in my family that actually likes Gin, I can appreciate this quote.
its deceptively sweet
Fagin's response when one of the kids says, " These sausages are moldy!" 😀 (A line that I think was ad-libbed!)
Isn't it "Shut up and drink your chin"? Because children don't drink gin.
Oh they did back then. Remember this was a time when the believed smoking cured sore throats.
Get a load of this guy 😄
They did, not only in fiction but in real life orphanages of the time. It was supposed to be for health benefits or something like that.
Lmaooo, you've never studied English history lol Kids did indeed drink gin..along wjth everyone else May I introduce you to the gin craze era of London
Just say this to any leftist who starts speaking.
Its stone in focus with rain and water on background. But very good to listen and very calm
Yes I agree
God blesses you for this upload.
I used to watch this with one of my cousins and granddad. Legit the funniest parts of this film was whenever Ron Moody was on screen, especially this scene. “These sausages are mouldy!” “Shut up, and drink your gin!” 😂
Excellent track 👏👏👏
