Rare radio coverage from the 5-0 win over Portsmouth at Loftus Road in the promotion winning 1972-73 season. I believe this to be a BBC Radio London "Extra Time" recording with Simon Reed as the host and Gordon Richardson as the reporter.

Keys and gray still going today just on bein sports instead of sky
i was 2 years old
I was at this match. My first international and still the best performance that I've seen live. On the terrace behind the goal at the shed end and had a great view of Don Givens's third goal. We could really do with players like those today.
Simon Stainrod was a great, naturally gifted classic No. 10 striker, in my oponion.
Course there was a ton of bad feeling between the clubs back then, plenty of trouble at both grounds but I always loved going to Loftus Rd,proper ground, good atmosphere, good fans COYH
Was at this poor turnout, you could walk round the ground to watch each half at end we were attacking. Never thought for a minute what was to come at theirs...
Please May I ask why was this played at Highbury?
UEFA banned QPR from playing matches in European competition on their artificial surface at Loftus Road. They played two matches at Highbury in the 1984-85 UEFA Cup.
Thank you 😊
Brilliant stuff, Happy Anniversary
Happy anniversary
What is the name of the last song? is there a full version around? Tremondous!
A Ranger through and through! Mr. Consistency!!! 🇮🇱
A real unsung hero RIPFrank
A champ and a gentleman 🇮🇱
R.I.P. Frank, sincere condolences to family and friends 🙏
The first game I ever went to was a friendly between QPR and Brentford in August 1967.
The idiots gave away a 3 goal lead against poxy aek athens
Ahhh, the good old days when we had players that gave their all for the club. Unlike the prima donas who put on the shirt now. The club isn't run right either at the top.
I remember it well
It sure does. QPR glory days that were. I relocated from West London @ Kensal Rise to Bradford CoC 2025 in 1975. No regrets at leaving the metropolis apart from the good work people I met. I am now a Bantams supporter through and through. No looking back, mate.
When football was football brilliant 😂
That brings back some memories!
A game for relegation

Good game, good game!!

Those were the days, my friends!! 🇮🇱
Proper lad 😂
His autobiography is absolutely brilliant. He gambled on everything. Football was just a way of making money to fund his gambling.
honest
This ground is in part till standing, well was when I visited Iceland one changing shed left...
I rembeer that night, great night!!! TYouRs!!!!!
Was there, bit of trouble in the Paddock if I recall. I normally always stood there, but was in the Loft for this game - thankfully
Used to love it in the paddocks
What an achievement! To win the league Cup as a third division team!!! Absolutely demolished Birmingham in the 2 leg semi. My Dad was 21 during this season. What a time to be a Rangers fan. Promotion and league Cup winners! Makes me smile thinking about the celebrations. 😂
Lovely three goals, lovely win!!
A brilliant point gained by the R's against the so-called Liverpool "superstars"!
So called, your still bitter then after all these years.
@@Ramps-rc9iy Me?? Bitter???? Naaa, never bitter!! You'll never walk alone!! 😂😂

Alan Mullery was a fine player , world class . Your name is what ?
Irrelevant. Football is all about opinions
Fool - he only wanted the job because his ego thought he was better than TV, but as Charlie George told Revie when subbed after 45 minutes for England. 'You've subbed me for Keegan, he isn't fit to lace my boots, hold on sorry, one of my boots'. Mullery was a fool who proved he wasn't in the same universe as TV in a very short period
Think I was at this...
Lived life on his terms, for good or bad!
What a fantastic team! What a fantastic year!!!
In 1992 it was still pretty rare to have Sky. It only launched in ‘89/‘90. I had to go round my Auntie’s house, a friend who had Sky or a pub to watch a live match. It felt so glamorous when you were only used to four channels! 😆

Today Brian Clough would have eaten Nigel Farage for breakfast!
Without any doubt Stan was a World Class Footballer ... BUT he would not stick to rules ... THAT was his Downfall
9:40 No one likes to see that on a football pitch. _EVERYONE likes to see that on a football pitch!!!!_ 😆
This was before his fling with Dani Behr right?
