03 The Navigator || A miniature pirate's study with a globe bar cart ♥
Hello everyone! Today's miniature build is a blue and white room belonging to a navigator. There's bits of her story in the video-see if you can guess who she is! The room box is detailed with white molding and blue wallpaper, with a walnut parquet floor. The navigator has a hinged walnut desk with a compass rose inlay, and a vintage Chippendale corner chair. A framed map hangs above her desk, and books and scrolls are scattered on the floor. Treasure chests full of gold and diamonds glitter in the flickering candlelight, and a miniature globe bar cart holds a secret stash of whiskey...
Unintentional ASMR-Use headphones if you want to listen closely to the sounds of cutting, sanding, and woodcarving.
Sit with me and watch the past few months’ work as I build this beautiful navigator's library ♥

    I wish I had a wholesome/cute story of me when I was in school, but imma be 100% honest with you; I was the type of kid to be responsible for the shoe print on the ceiling. I was mischievous and just a general terror for my poor teachers. Looking back at it now, I definitely wish I took school more seriously so as to make my future brighter and more promising. I’m proud of where I am now, but it’s only through hard knocks and dumb luck that I managed to become who and what I am today.

    When I was little, my grandmother had a wonderful garden in her back yard. She grew so many flowers. Roses, honeysuckle, tulips, bleeding hearts, nasturtiums, pansies... some I don't remember the name of. The back fence was covered head to toe in grape vines. The grapes themselves were awful to eat, they were sour and had seeds in them, my cousins and I would pretend that we were fairies, or little forest creatures, and pick the big grape leaves to use as umbrellas. She also had apricot trees, which were very fun to climb, and one of my earliest memories is the smell of apricots, and the feeling of finding a very over-ripe apricot hiding in the grass with my bare toes! Ew! Sticky and slimy! Pointy hard pit! ... I miss that place. Not just the physical place, but the innocence of childhood. It's gone now. When Grandpa's health went bad, they moved in with my aunt, and gave the house to my uncle. He let the garden go to ruin... and then the whole house was repossessed by the government after he died not long after Grandpa did, in massive debt. The next owner bulldozed it all and put in turf. My childhood ended. I can't ever go back to the Garden of Eden, but I visit it in my dreams sometimes...

    This channel helped me today. I was having a week where I didnt actually speak to anyone till late Wednesday when my daughter came home eith a chocolate cake. She told me they were free from work I made espressos with soy foam. Had a piece a dark, rich cake so moist I was shocked it was old. Anyways after she went out again. I was worried if we kept missing each other before bed I would not have spoken to anyone again for 3days.( I forgot the furnace people called.) But I planned to paint today as I mixed up new colours the other day. I'm having sharp chest pains from heartburn gerd whatever. So I was watching your video j clicked when i saw the butterflies. I love the idea of recreating butterflies rather than collecting the real ones. As they are so small, fragile and add beauty to the world.i like how your video and the music made me calm down, feel less scared about all the things I cannot control. Its hard. I sometimes get so nervous i cant even paint. So I did some pilates. It wont help with free cakes coming home!!😂 your work is so well done. Watching every step of it is a pleasure more even than the finished result!! ❤❤❤ subscribed!

      It's this one! (amzn.to/3TSTA6K) Mini review: it's meant for cutting leather and I've found that it works better with slightly thick but soft materials (eg leather, foam sheets, chipboard) With wood veneer as thin as the one I'm using it on in the video, it doesn't always cut straight. The blade follows the grain of the wood and wanders off... but if you're cutting mostly solid materials with no grain, it should work great :)
