Why We Need a Feminist Foreign Policy
Переглядів 8699 місяців тому
The concept of a feminist foreign policy evolved from decades of grassroots feminist activism, especially powerful movements in the Global South. These movements advocated for a radically new approach to international engagement: one that takes into consideration the rights and needs of women and marginalized people, emphasizes diplomacy, and seeks to remedy histories of exploitation. In the pa...

Green equity approaches are one instrument to ensure adequate levels of climate finance. However, instead of creating green outcomes for local communities, green equity investments can also perpetuate an extractive development model. This video by the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Washington, DC (us.boell.org/) and Recourse (www.re-course.org/) explores what needs to change in order for green equity t...
More Than an Add-On? Centering gender equality in climate investments
Переглядів 1842 роки тому
While all major climate funds have gender mainstreaming mandates, the gender-responsiveness of the climate investment approaches they support and their overall funding portfolio needs further improvements. Too often, as a recent Heinrich Böll Stiftung/Gender Action study analyzing the gender integration efforts of projects and programs in the Green Climate Fund (GCF) portfolio highlighted, atte...

The embarrassment of the so called feminist foreign policy manifests itself in the absolute incompetence of our current government.
Thanks from my garden.
Luv sortition but hate it being used for clicks go f yaself
very well explained.
China is not part of the industrialized economies?
Love Nanjala she's BEAUTIFUL ❤️❤️❤️
Great narration!!!!
I love these videos. They are so good. Thanks.
batshit
Is this satire? LOL
Very well done!! Only problem is the link in the description is down and I don't seem to find a link for the podcast.
exactly the link no longer exists :(
Actually this is a very arrogant position considering the so called solutions which the climate hypocrites offer are likely more damaging to the environment and puts a heavier burden on poor nations. Consider electric cars, where are the two main elements used to make lithium batteries mined…mainly in Africa, specifically the Democratic Republic of Congo😮! The greens are the new reds and they love to exploit inhumane working environments which includes child labor! Not to mention these are the countries you sympathetically refer to as victims of those evil colonialist. It seems they are also victims of the modern day environmental movement as well! When you consider the destructive impact which occurs when obtaining the elements needed to produce solar panels and lithium batteries, we must also take into consideration how to safely dispose of these hazards once their life span ends. I rarely hear these concerns even attempt to be addressed. The truth is there are no solutions, there are only trade offs. The trade offs for the future your purposing comes at a high cost to poor countries and benefits genocidal regimes like the Chinese Communist Party, all while bankrupting the countries who gave you the freedom to offer such criticism. Continuing to use oil, coal, natural gas, and nuclear, as we continue to explore new sources of energy which are smarter, more efficient, and is safe to produce is a much more rational approach. The state of the earth has been way overblown, the earths been through much worse. After all no one truly knows what the optimal temperature actually is, so let’s stop hyperventilating and start acting like adults.
I had a trucker friend who use to work in the coal industry. He was making about 100K per yr but they use to work over 80-90 hrs a week. So he was making good money but was working long hard hrs. He use to tell me that federal agents from MSHA (like OSHA but worse) use to come in and fine his coal company a few hundred-thousand dollars in violation charges each year. But then under Obama MSHA got more aggressive and sent in more and more federal agents with the intention of charging the company more money in violations. Once the company started getting violations that was costing in the millions it was no longer profitable and everyone there lost their job. So when this video says "Coal is no longer marketable or economy profitable" or whatever the part they don't tell you is that the government made it that way through taxation and regulations.
so wait... the company was profitable because it was abusing its workers. They finally got their comuppance through actual enforcement of fair labour laws and had to shut down because they were stealing from their workers all along.... And government is the bad guy here??
@nzbozza The workers were not getting abuse. Ppl chosen to work hard to have big fat checks. Under Obama the federal agencies became a lot more aggressive. Their aim was to shut down coal. Make it non profitable by over regulations.
I see that I have better luck talking to a wall lol.
@nzbozza Do you hav experience working in the coal industry?
How is the transition away from coal working out for Germany right now?
This video is pure propaganda. “Green” is not more effective or cheaper.
A solid argument. Ok thanks bye
The web dossier link is broken
good video
Its a farce 100 people decide the future of a nation no way!
Nationalize equity
Job loss, normal life loss, evaluate human rights, get read of some and keep some, minimise conservative thought, establish a global way of life and so forth... Aren't these contributing to climate change? How can you eliminate a disaster when Ur doing it?
Great insights on "global climate finance". This is the future of the global economy and this is a very important introduction to how to effectuate large-scale systemic change.
What?.. Is this the kind of demented fantasy we have descended into?
Caring about women is a demented fantasy? Your poor mother doesn't deserve such a heartless son.
Great video explaining such a complex issue!
We need to move a step forward. Political systems based on leaders are unfit to deal with today's world. Sortition and assemblies is my favourite solution...
You’re a fool
Excellent Explain
I highly disagree with suraj , connecting Romani cause with that of the caaste issue ....... not to mention the present PM is a dallit Mr Modi(You can check his background)...... dont try and deviate the Romani cause...... Romani people should be careful not to get wooed by these type of people they are part of a larger western conspiracy
Brother mr modi is not dalit he is obc and suraj yengde is bringing solidarity between two oppressed communities there's nothing wrong in that
An excellent explanation of some of the challenges. Much more work is needed to map the tensions between 1) privacy and data protection that is placed in the 'human rights' category and 2) the need for more data collection, analysis and use to inform and drive sustainable development. Nanjala Nyabola's is a much-needed voice in this.
This is so dumb it hurts
What are your reasons for opposing this system?
@@thephoenix756 You want to replace people who I voted to represent me, And replace them with some randoms, Who will do things “in my interest” and not things that I ask for. How does it pick people at random? That’s going to be so corrupt. It’s really going to hand pick people. And if at first it does choose people at random, eventually it’s going to hand pick people. Next, It seems to be based on “expert opinions” any real expert will tell you that they work with knowledge known today. Not fact. As you know, the earth was assumed flat according to “experts” based on the knowledge they had at the time. A more recent example, the North Pole will be ice free by 2020. 😂 so accurate. Next problem, what happens if there is no consensus? Government becomes useless? If I’m selected, and they want to ban petrol cars to save the planet, I will vote no. I want petrol cars! No expert will change my mind. Now I’m at risk of assassination, I’m at risk of abuse and being an outcast. How will this system protect against stubborn people like me who will not change their minds?? Does the system collapse? Am I removed for not going with the flow? Am I imprisoned? This system is totally flawed on every level. It’s an abomination of thought disguised as intellectual thinking. In reality this will be the most corrupt political system ever created. It stinks of dictatorship. I will gladly take part in any citizens assembly experiment and vote no, just to be a dick, and watch the system crumble. And that’s the point, the system will not crumble, instead I will be removed for not having the “right” opinion. This is a dictatorship, and anyone who thinks otherwise is living in a fantasy.
Please don't reference greenhouse gasses as pollution.
this tells nothing concrete. fuck you workers, get a job in renewables, while we do a UNESCO site. COOL.
Wow mam. A very helpful video.
We can’t fight against whatever if the right weapon isn’t found. Nice wording but, instead of real solutions you came up with new problems - that’s not what we need.
0:44 "The money should come from the countries who are responsible for the damage and have the capacity to make it right." I agree with you, because that's really where the financing has to come from, but developing countries are responsible for 63 percent of current carbon emissions (Center for Global Development, 2015).
Instablaster.
You should take into account cumulative emissions, not current yearly emissions. This is because emissions have accumulated in the atmosphere. It's a property of the climate system.

More than baxtalo to you, in countering all forms of Romaphobia.
Very well explained and love the detail gone into making this video!! Thank you!!
Well explained? how lol. We already have a citizens assembly, it's called parliament 😂 Only in this version normal people don't get a say, where in parliament i can vote for people to represent me, in a citizens assembly i am not given a say, but have to accept it. How can you represent all opinions? will you have Neo nazi and members of the KKK in the citizens assembly? Or will you only have far left representation? because the truth is, you only like citizens assemblies because you think thats how you will get your own way. What if on the first vote we vote to exterminate all communists? You support that? or we vote to end citizens assemblies? lol because you only like the idea because you think it will support you bull shit backward politics
Exceptionally well made video. Thanks!!
Love and solidarity from India
Caste matters. 🙏 Thank you Mr. Suraj for writing such a wonderful 📙 book, this caste issue really to be addressed in the country. 🇮🇳. 🙏
Inspiring, would love to work on such ''Just Transition'' projects where most challenged sectors by the sustainable transition have to be supported for an early effective social (re)integration within our common future.
Mmmm... I don't know...
Thanks!
Excellent! How do I get in touch with the creators of this animation? I’d like to roll out something similar. Thanks!
Hi, sorry for a 3-year late response, but I am the illustrator from the video and would be glad to help!
No Chinese caption? One of the most spoken languages in the world... and China is a country that needs to do better on both climate and gender justices...
2:04 "Jobs in renewables already outnumber those in coal" Sure, but how do they generate as much energy as coal?
Hello, I think the point of this example is not to deal with climate justification as said in the video, as we could not compare nuclear or hydrogen plants their carbon emissions job to energy ratios and so on ..., yet the global economy is transforming to a more sustainable one, and the purpose of these examples is about letting no one behind ensuring jobs & global empowerment through the ''sustainable'' side of the transition. The global balance whether regarding energy production, steel making, etc is made through more innovative processes and global cross-boundaries distribution. Inspiring examples to support effective (re)developments at scale.
United Ireland? What???
does anyone think china deserves the bulk of this "climate justice" this video is a national security issue
