great topic. I've been playing DayZ for 6k hours. In my opinion, a unique game from 2012 that is not just about KOS, but more about PVP with interactions. (How ever) Even the textures look awfully old, yet 30k people play it every day and some streamers have few thousand viewers every day while the streamer is running through forests. In addition to its unique survival, exploration and interaction character, it is also special that the trees look fantastic. Walking through a forest gives a very realistic feeling. At least for a game that's 12 years old, the trees are very good. I agree: trees are very important, if not the most important object in the environment.

Amazing video man! 👍 Not only the games suck because of realism. But because of wokness. I don't have much of newer games. Because I'm afraid that a character ether i play as one or in the game somewhere is g🤮y. It just shows how the companys are greedy and doesn't care if the game seems fun or not. They care about the money. Hey Sony! Instead of giving us Concord. You should have given us a remaster of old games that are still stuck on the PS3. Or should be working on the ps3 emulator for PS5. And any other gaming studio. Let. Us. Have. F.U.N! Fun!!

Actually this was the easiest issue to get around because they had been working with this limitation for years. They already had the base systems for level compression from the sprite design. If it was difficult then the file size would likely be a lot closer the 40 kB limit than 31kb.

Ray Tracing is not about the rendering of 3D view, it's about the lighting of the 3D view. Ray casting was purely designed for making games 3D while Ray Tracing is designed to make the lighting path trace better without losing performance. Though you do make a valid argument that Nvidia is kinda greedy and looking to make people buy their gpu quicker. (even though AMD can deliver the same way anyway for less)

Dylan Brown from UA-cam is using the AMD 7900 XTX to push Lumen and TSR (Unreal's version of DLSS or FSR) up to 8x faster than traditional ray tracing, significantly boosting rendering performance and delivering stunning visuals. So no, you don't need to buy into Nvidia's $3,000 5090 Ti mindshare hype. With the right rendering tech, an AMD 7900 XTX 24GB at $800 is all you need. By the way, John Carmack also used optimization of binary space partition (BSP)-another secret weapon. If I remember correctly, their studio was located in Mesquite, Texas.
