Ceiling fans with integrated remote receivers function different
Ceiling fans with integrated remote receivers function different. Especially if you are replacing an older traditional style fan with pull chain switches. Your exiting wall switches will likely function different and it's not your fault.

Great idea.Thank you for your time and effort to make this video and share your knowledge with us. Greetings from Croatia.
Oh wow Croatia! That sure is fun knowing someone from so far away is checking out this video.
Will just plain head gun work the same or is the steam the critical piece?
@@Eechygoeechy some people here over the years have said they have had success with a heat gun and this this method is ridiculous. However I personally think you are at much more significant risk of having the glass shatter and/or scorching the wood sash. I still to this day think for many instances this is by far the best solution. The combination of steam and hot water dripping down just does so much to loosen things up.
@ I’ve tried both the past 2 days. Heat alone did nothing. Steam worked pretty well but the glaze I’m working on is VERY OLD. It comes out it little pieces. A lot still left over scattered around. Pretty frustrating. Based on what it’s looking like, getting a nice finish seems unlikely. Any ideas to really work the crusty old stuff out?
My house has no wall switches for the fans so these were installed in all the rooms. I hate having to change expensive 12v batteries that I can only buy on Amazon every 6 months. They always die right as I'm trying to go to bed. It would be so much work to switch them all out to something better.
Make ceiling fans great again! Haha. Naw but seriously, many times these high tech machines aren’t as reliable or easy to use as their predecessors.
No sir they are not and you are absolutely correct. I've been turning lights on and off for over 4 decades and I've never had to take a switch plate cover off to replace the batteries in a wall mounted switch. And I don't intend to start now.
Thirty-two seconds, gone forever.
I would say those are pond turtles. Maybe Sliders
@RebeccaYouhoo yeah I think so too. Our lake has a TON of turtles.
Dang bro, that is a real bummer. That’s horrible. Nature can be cruel.
Nature has to nature I suppose. Just go watch the other video again you'll feel better.
Ive restored 5 windows with 12 panes per window. I got most of the glazing out with a sharp utility knife once i figured out the correct angle of attack. The rest i used a harbor freight heat gun with a wide attachment thats build perfectly for glazing.
I do the same thing. Edit. Haha. I just replied to my own comment. Didnt know i left one. I crack myself up.
Thank you so much! It was great of you to make this video! I used to have a steamer but got rid of it since it didn't work as expected. I'm going to look for a steamer with a hose like the one you showed. You saved me lots of work. I'm replacing a small window that got broken, so there's no glass and may try an old steam iron while I wait for the steamer to arrive.
I will give it a try been long doing glasses but didn't know this
Good idea!
@@alanjdeitch thanks hope it helps with your projects
You just saved my life, it was driving me nuts!!
So... where does it discharge to ?
@@ptg01 if you watch some of my other videos you'll see where this pipe goes across the front of the house and down a hill on the other side. I actually need to do a new followup video now that the grass has grown back but I got to working on another much longer trench drain also in some of my other videos.
That's a great and very simple solution. I had all the fittings bought to hook my shop's gutters to the drainage system I'm installing when I remembered all the leaves and what looks like giant cockleburs that fall out of my neighbors Maple trees. I'm just leaving the downspouts to drain onto the 1 1/2" crushed driveway to catch the debris and the water will go down to the drain rock and pipe system. Right?
Mine is going into a closed pipe all the way to the end, about 150 feet away, there's no drain rock in the ground like a french drain or drain field or anything like that. I'm mostly dealing with leaves which I find the weight of the water has no problem blowing out of the downspout, down and out of the end of the 4 inch PVC. About the most clogging thing would be twigs from the nearby river birch trees, which if you've watched any of my other videos about....and a sweet pain in general due to the amount of twigs and limbs they love to drop.
That’s awesome. As luck would have it, I have a leftover piece with the bell end. I like to have access to jam my leaf blower nozzle up there to clear downspout clogs. Thank you for posting this.
@@7mmLongRanger hope it helped out!
Great tip going to give it try.

Brilliant! Well thought out and neat. 👏
Thanks I hope it helps some folks with their own projects.
It works pretty good. I tried it myself.
Flas I saw this. I am about to start reglazing 736 winsow panes on my Queen Anne but htis is the way i will do it now
Hope it worked out for you
😂 that dude was a lil pissed
LoL I know I didn't know what he might do.
I wish I had seen this video BEFORE I removed glazing the hard way from 18 window frames! I'll definitely try it for the other 24! Thank you for sharing.
just be thankful they are not paper birch.
Oh no are they worse!?!? Lord I hope not!
@@WhateverUnique river birch are great compared to paper birch. paper birch fall apart so much more. there is no hope of them even coming close to being street trees.
Bet that water is cold!!
No it's not that deep of a lake so the water stays moderate
Nice work
Thanks hope it helps
Love the content!
Yea but don’t overlook the asbestos containing chances on that old glazing
Well that's actually a great aspect of this method of removal unlike the others where you are grinding and scraping breaking it down and producing dust. This is basically breaking it out in chunks and it's likely all going to be wet and keep anything from becoming airborne.
Can you water test it. Would like to see how bad it leaks.
I'll try and get some video when it's raining but there's really little to no leaking. It's all vertical drop and it's not under any pressure. You may get some negligible drips but the area gets more water splashes from rain falling just outside the roof line than anything you'd see here. The slip ring fits quite snug and as long as the cuts are nice and straight and everything else it fitted up well there really should be no concern.
Hey finally had a rainy day where I could get a video of this quick disconnect. As you can see there's little to no leaking and certainly nothing to be concerned with. ua-cam.com/video/cx-ZntpigUg/v-deo.html
I've got two gutters hooked up to drywells and the only time it has a problem is during a torrential rainfall. So much water is going down, the air can't get out fast enough! I needed to put a vent in but, didn't think ahead like, Whateverunique!
@@WhateverUnique That Guy was just Trolling you! That system works fine! ( I also watched the other video as well!)
Rocking and rolling!
Pretty cool
It's like we're all living in a video game!!
Nicely done! I need to replicate this on my down spouts.
Out of curiosity are you doing a new system or thinking to retro fit an existing set up? I certainly see no reason someone couldn't simply cut an existing pipe nice and clean and then fit the slip rings on after the fact.
Ding dang varmints!
Nature is at work 24/7 trying to reclaim everything.
Very cool!
If you ever come to Australia, I owe you a beer. Thanks mate. : )
You underestimated my memory LoL. I think you might be the farthest person away that this has helped
Thanks, just another reinforcement for the belief in UA-camrs for great ideas. I have not actually verified but it all makes sense
Thanks yes I have found so many helpful things myself on UA-cam and actually what I found led me to this solution in a different way.
Starts by saying how he doesn’t get “specialty tools”. Proceeds by using a wallpaper steamer to remove glazing. Because everyone has a wallpaper steamer lying around 🤦♂️🤦♂️😂
Idiot comment
Hey but the good news is you can use a steamer like this for a LOT of different things so I don't consider it a "specialty tool" because it has so many uses. To me a specialty tool is something that has only one or maybe at best two uses. A steamer you can use for a variety of things.
It's ok I understand what he was trying to say. But to me a steamer is an incredibly diverse tool . Some people just might not see it that way.
The mechanical tools are f or prepping t he surface after the glass is removed
the window attachment for heats guns isn't very good still to risky
Well I never! Thanks for putting this up
You're welcome I hope it helps
This seems great but we need a way to do this while on a ladder
Ohhhhh ok yeah I feel that pain for real.
hmmm so ur telling me my glass installer wasted me hundreds of dollars by scraping it dry. gotta add it was on windows that could be up to 150yr old, maybe it was hardened more, idk.
Oooof ....sorry?
I’ve been scraping by hand and now I see your video. 😂 Would a handheld pressurized steam cleaner work? They are only $35 on Amazon.
Yes I think anything you could get to put steam out to a localized area would work well. Sorry it took so long to find. I know the pain of finding a solution after the fact.
What is happening is that everybody and his/her brother are now connoisseurs of window restoration. Please watch the real professionals of Historic Window preservation and restoration like John Leeke or others if you really want to know how to take care of your windows and preserve your beautiful wavy panes of antique glass and restore your windows professionally.
I actually saw companies using large steaming containment devices to steam entire windows in a single go which lead me to this solution. But I think it's great that people are wanting to maintain their original wood windows because they realize they are almost invaluable and irreplaceable in today's market.
Bottom putty always just pops off
Yes because the natural moisture attacks it first but this steaming method speeds that up for the vertical and upper sections.
Thanks for putting this on UA-cam, you've just saved me hours and hours restoring a glazed cabinet 👍
You're welcome glad it helped
I wish I would have seen this video before I removed the glazing from a window from the 1800's! I used a screwdriver and hammer to chip tiny pieces away. This looks like the perfect method!
I feel your pain of finding a solution after doing something I assure you.
Well, who the hell has a wallpaper steamer laying around?
Well I bought a house in 2002 and there was a ton of wallpaper .... and then this.
A REAL MAN THATS PREPARED!!
The guy in the video
This worked as advertised, thanks!
Glad to hear!
Thank you for sharing this! I am glazing for the first time and without the wallpaper steamer, I would have surely broken glass by now since it was rock hard! Took much less time also! May be able to finish (starting in September in Midwest!)!
Happy to have helped!
