DEEP GREEN house tour intro, part 2 of 2

I started making a little video tour of my house. It was inspired by a conversation with a friend who is navigating some life stuff, but also in general by so many things I'm seeing in this world, people being economically precarious. And I really have to wonder sometimes if the art and loveliness that is deficient in / missing from this world nowadays is at least roughly correlated with the am...

Hi Jenny! I love this, but my city has old ordinances which prevent anything good...anything ecological....it's ridiculous.
Like please, UA-cam, I only have like seven followers anyway, why are you making me split them into two buckets by having this thing called shorts and this thing called videos? Am I missing something? Is this actually helpful? No, I am not actually expecting UA-cam to respond directly to my comment ha ha. I am just putting it out there and maybe one of you might be able to help me understand this. It seems like it's just splitting what is already a very small following.
I agree, I am a crocheter too!
Like what you have done out there, I am collecting rainwater too, in buckets!
Hi Heather, Awesome! I think the more of us collect rainwater, the more it will catch on. I was rereading Brad Lancaster's book last night, and he was pointing out how our society has developed some sort of amnesia regarding rainwater. We've gotten very focused on pumping water out of the ground since we have had the luxury of so much mechanized equipment and cheap fossil fuels. But now it's time to get back reconnected with rainwater. And I love the picture you shared on FB of your view of the allotment. It looks like a very pleasant setting.😇💚🌏🦋
@@jennynazak Thanks Jenny, I'm enjoying it. The weather has been quite cool here, so it's possible to actually get things done! need to make the most of it I think, it all could change.
I also have SHTF cupboard! I've been wondering about taking out my broken electric oven. At the moment the gas top hob still works and I'm using that only. Probably saving money! Perhaps just a small convector oven. I think that is what they tend to do in Japan? Why do we need this big oven! Nice to have the gas top option, just in case though.
I forgot to mention that this little guest bedroom used to be a dining room. It had a tiny dining room table and six chairs which pretty much took up the whole room. It wasn't really a very comfortable fit, and because my friends and I rarely dine at the same time and indoors, I let go of the table and I use the chairs in other rooms. It's very nice to instead have a little guest bedroom and or emergency landing spot for someone who is in between housing.
In the video it sounded like I was saying I never use electric lights. What I meant was that I don't customarily use an electric light in the daytime, but that I used it in this case because the room was too dark to show otherwise. But yes, we do use electric lights and other electric stuff obviously since we have a refrigerator. That said, I personally am very much of a fan of oil lamps and candles. I use those to add some warmth and cheer and beauty to an evening.
I like your alternative thinking Jenny.
Thanks Heather! I appreciate your taking the time to stop by, watch my videos, and comment 💚🌏🦋
interested to see more!

no WAY!!! You Make Shorts Too!?!?! 🖤💜💙💚💙💜🖤 awesome ideas here, thanks for spending a minute with us! Your Channel is SERIOUSLY Underrated!!! 🖤💜💙💚💙💜🖤 Much Love!!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your support. BTW I don't make shorts on purpose, it's sort of happened by mistake. I actually find it confusing to have two different "bins" of videos but I'm glad that people are able to find both "bins" 😆🥰💚🌏🦋 Anyway, thanks for the love, and have an awesome deep-green day!
Lol based on the thumbnail, i yhought we were going to get a truck bed toolbox library, Also a great idea FOR anyone who uses a vehicle in their community or parks on the street! 🖤💜💙💚💙💜🖤 Lol that bit about taste, you are SO right. It's about having faith in people, and showing up in the community even when yourse not physically present! 🖤💜💙💚💙💜🖤 Thanks for sharing the Inspiration and your time with us! 🖤💜💙💚💙💜🖤 Much Love!!
Thank you so much for this comment! For some reason I'm only seeing it a month later, definitely did not mean to ignore you and really appreciate you stopping by. Much love and have a great day.
That is SO cool!! 🖤💜💙💚💙💜🖤 Community building takes many forms, and this is a GREAT simple example!! 🖤💜💙💚💙💜🖤 Much Love to You and the Little Free Library!!
This is a really cool format for a video, and I am TOTALLY into this! 🖤💜💙💚💙💜🖤 (Isn't it so frustrating how fast those bags fall apart, and how many of them are not made to support their own weight) 🖤💜💙💚💙💜🖤 Lol micro-hoarding but productive, one man's treasure is the community treasure, when you think like this!! 🖤💜💙💚💙💜🖤 Much Love!!!!
Thank you and much love back to you! I so appreciate your watching and commenting. 💚🌏🦋
I have been all OVER the idea of porous property lines for years, (and the "most" progressive people I have shared the idea with can get SO defensive about it) but now you just shared the NAME of it with me, so now I can more concisely articulate the idea, and hopefully learn more about it! THANK YOU!! 🖤💜💙💚💙💜🖤 Porous property, I am SO glad to have a name to call it, and I am finding Your enthusiasm, and beautiful execution of Your porous property line INSPIRING as all get-out!! 🖤💜💙💚💙💜🖤 Thank you again for sharing the title of this practice and a bit of the philosophy behind it. GORGEOUS!! 🖤💜💙💚💙💜🖤 Much Love to You!!
Oh my gosh, thank you so much for your comment. I am so glad to be of help to you, and I appreciate your loving spirit. May you find lots of ways to express & implemenr porous property, and may it enrich your life and your community. As it has mine. Please feel free to share updates anytime!! Much love to you 💚🌏🦋
So take your fence down and unlock your door if you don't believe someone should own property.
A couple of thoughts. Thank you for responding. 1) The fence has gradually been removed, there are just a couple spots of it left. 2) I am learning about personal property versus private property. People are allowed to have private space and allowed to have tools and so on. I have a responsibility to provide security for my housemates, so I can't just let people run all over the property. But, as I do mention in my video, I have these porous areas that are meant for anyone to be able to use. 3) Unfortunately, in today's society, if I were to give up homeownership, I would end up being a burden to somebody. I would be out on the streets and also not able to provide housing for other people, which I am currently able to do. There are many countries where land ownership is not a thing. I would like us to become that way, and have been an active advocate in the Land Back movement. My ideal community would probably be something like what Christiania Free Town in Copenhagen used to be. Or, mobile home parks and RV Parks back when they were all mom and pop and the rent used to be super super cheap.
continuing my response to your comment, which I really appreciate that you brought this up. One function of what's left of my fence is to protect baby trees, and also the baby animals and birds who live on this place in addition to the human residents. Over time, though, the fence is being removed, and I am seeing that the public is respecting the plant and animal life and not harming them. Also, I did not say anything in my video about doors being locked or unlocked. Somebody is almost always home at this place.
"There goes the neighborhood." Great perspective Jenny.
Thanks for tuning in, dear friend!!!
Wow!!! .... Cleaning a zip lock bag..... That's great!!!
Thanks for watching, I'm glad you like it! Some bags that come into my possession are just too greasy or messy to be worth the trouble to clean, but I do like to try my best to clean and reuse them if I can, especially the sturdy ones. Most of the time I can get them at least clean enough to store nonfood items. And often, clean enough to re-use even for food items. Every bit helps!
You're an extraordinary human being, Jenny and I value your authenticity. This is a quality that in the simulated non-authentic world of consumer driven capitalism is akin to a rare Earth metal. This concept of "deep adaptation" is a very important realization. The dark side that you seem to have some (albeit maybe minor) angst over is the side of reality that may be best conceptualized by Carl Gustav Jung's "Collective Unconscious." This dark side of reality is what Freidrich Neitszche ( I'll never be able to spell that name correctly!@#?&) called the ABYSS. One famous spooky quote will suffice- "Never forget that when you look into the Abyss the Abyss is looking into you!" It takes a certain kind of personal strength to look into what Neitzsche called the Abyss and Jung later clarified as that underlying psychic content that is unbounded in space and time and essentially constitutes the mind of nature, the mind in nature, and the source of mind itself. ["BE NOT AFRAID" Jesus told his disciples because this is exactly what he was actually addressing IMHO.] * Google up- "The Human Extinction Protocol" sometime and let me know what you think about this. I have not reviewed the material as closely as I should have perhaps and I would very much appreciate your perspective on what these various websites present and support with what appears to be scientific evidence to back their proposition. One should always consider the reliability of the data. * Decoding the various Gospels has always been a sort of (hopefully) scholarly habit of mine. Agnosticism is the only acceptable analytical basis for such pursuits.
Hi Charles! Thank you so much for stopping by and contributing this thoughtful comment. I am so sorry I am only seeing it now, apparently three months after you made the comment. Really appreciate you.
Thanks for sharing! Best regards.
Thank you so much for commenting! Always nice to see you.
The in sink (in sync?) compost container is great. You can put it by the cutting board when you're prepping vegies. Get those onion skins out of the way.
