Stealth Fisha
United States
Приєднався 17 лис 2018
I am a kayak and SUP fisherman based out of the Florida panhandle. I use a Stealth Pro Fisha 525 and a Bote Aero Rackham for the majority of my fishing. Saltwater is the name of the game for me, offshore when possible, inshore when I can't go offshore. I am one of the few around the area that still uses a paddle kayak but you may occasionally see me in a pedal yak, I just prefer to paddle most days. I don't have any fancy gear and I don't always catch the most fish, but I always enjoy myself and thats the goal. I have recently started fly fishing so that is what I do most of the time now.

Stealth ProFisha 525 kayak walk thru. Do you wanna go FAST?
This is just a walk thru of my 2023 Stealth ProFisha 525. It is a 17'6" long, 24 inch wide composite kayak that weighs around 55lbs. It is made in South Africa by Stealth Kayaks. Stealth makes 3 sizes of the ProFisha, the 475, 525, and 575. They also make the Fisha, Fusion, and Elite range kayaks.
It is sleek, fast, and is an efficient paddle kayak that is at home offshore fishing. They are not for everyone but if you fish offshore a lot I think you should at least give one a try, they are pretty awesome.
If you have any questions feel free to ask below and I will do my best to answer them.

This is a one year review of my @KastKing Sharky 3 1000 series reel on my Kastking BlackHawk 2 medium rod. It is only a 1k series reel but has caught bull reds over 40"s, red snapper, bonita by the dozen, and ...

Hands down the cheapest pedal drive kayak you can get, Pelican Getaway setup for budget fishing
I have an older Max Catch Avid with an unsealed drag system that I use as a travel reel. I go to Florida a couple times a year so I like to cast in the surf when I can. Last year I was on a cruise and we stopped in St. Thomas. My wife and I went to Magens Bay so I could fish. On the west end of the beach I hooked 2 tarpon in the surf. I didn't land them but I got to play them a while and the Max Catch reel handled them fine. It's good stuff.

Just received mine in the mail! Beautiful reel, light, machined well. I am ready to put it to use on a few drum……reeling with my right hand of course! Thanks!
How is this set up holding up? Still happy with it?
It is performing awesomely. I actually have a 7wt now and I am saving up for an 11wt to use on a tarpon trip next summer to the keys. The reel handles saltwater with zero issues and the rod is a joy to use. I only wish they would give a bigger spool of backing to go with it, 100 yards doesn't fill it.
Looks amazing, must get up a good speed to get out through the surf.
Thanks for the video
the only problem is the ultraglass rods only have one locking mechanism for the reel and they come loose after a while of casting.
I haven't run into that problem but I can see how it could happen. I do prefer double locking reel rings and wish they would add them to it.
Are you still happy with the reel? Do you have any negative points yet?
Just wondering how durable the lacing system is?...I prefer the metal eyelets like the one these boots use on the top.
I purchased the same $80.00 Kylebooker waders--Now they have the 5 layer with the full front Zipper, About $100.00 more but this will be my next pair for sure.
would these work well for trout and redfin in aus?

Nice review of the Stealth ProFisha 525! What was your reason for switching away from the 555? Could you give us an idea of the handling differences between the two kayaks? And would you opt for a 575 if it was available?
The 555 was awesome but I really didn't need the additional stability of it over the 525. With the 525 you get moving noticeably faster and the glide is better with negligible loss of top speed. It does feel noticeably tippier but you get used to it quickly. The 555 is stable as can be, no tippiness feeling at all. The 525 being narrower, it is easier to hop on launching in shore breaks and just getting back in if you go for a dip. The 555 was sweet, the 525 is just another level above it basically. If I could find a 575 I would have purchased one in a heartbeat, it is supposed to be much faster than any other yak they make and I like to cover water but I haven't personally tried or even seen one in person. The next one I get will be a 575 or the 530 elite they make now.
Only thing faster is a 575 - love my 525 its a 23 as well! - have a FISHA 500 too - its a wet ride but your kayak fishing? I’m probably gonna jump over at some point for a swim? Another down side is launching around rocks or whatnot you have to be more careful as its glass with plastic you can beat it on rocks not hurt it, nothing major but you have to pay attention. Stealth is the best!
I want a 575 so bad but they are pretty hard to find in the states. Yeah the wet ride has never bothered me much, I fished in Florida and now the Texas coast so it is hot here. I just figured I would mention it since in person I have had a bunch of questions about it from people.
What size of flies can you throw well on this? Also, how does the drag perform when fighting a big fish?
I regularly throw closures tied using size 2 hooks, haven't tried anything larger since I use it mainly as a speckled trout rod inshore but I can try some larger flies this weekend and report back. The avid pro is awesome, I currently own 4 of them in 3 sizes and it is probably my favorite all around reel. I have cheaper ones and more expensive ones but the Avid Pro gets everything done so it kind of has become my default. The drag is smooth and predictable without any catching or grabbing as the fish pulls, just a nice steady pull.
I just ordered a maxcatch 2 weight. I will probably get a 8 or 10 salt water set up from them too. Best value for money out there
What are you planning on targeting with the saltwater setup? The 9wt is a pretty awesome do "most" size. I use a 7wt and 9wt more than anything else and I plan to get an 11wt to target tarpons and jacks once I save my pennies a bit. I am in the middle of a move to Texas but once I get settled in here I will be back to fishing and getting gear. I think I have another 6 MAxCatch reels and a handful of MaxCatch rods to go over but I need to fish them first to get a feel for them.
@@StealthFisha Almost ready to purchase and for the last month I have been looking at the 9wt like you suggest. I will be fishing from the beach targeting saltwater australian species flathead, taylor, bream
@@3runjosh A 8wt or 9wt would handle those all equally well. I use both for big tailors (we call them bluefish here) but I prefer the 9wt since it is easier to cast in windy conditions and can handle bigger flies and fish while still not being overkill. Either way, I think you would be pleased with the salt pro, it is my second most used setup, right behind my 6wt ultraglass that I use for light inshore.
Can you catch bass on these ?
Most of them work great other than the hooks are weak and bend easily, probably about 80% had great action in the water. I highly recommend replacing the hooks on them though before fishing them.
Great review! I'm looking for a saltwater setup and think I'm going to try this Sparta. How do you like it after using it a couple months? I fish between East/West Bay to Apalachicola/East point, are you in this area?
It is an awesome setup that I truly enjoy using. I use it mostly in the Navarre Beach area but I am currently in the process of moving to Texas and will be fishing the Galveston Bay area. Only recommendation I have is to change the line out to maxcatch outbound saltwater line, it is a great line and has now become my default line and its only 20 bucks. I have used the sparta offshore and inshore, both from a kayak and still zero issues and it is as smooth as can be. Much better reel than my sage spectrum that was much more expensive.
Thanks
How’s the reel holding up in the salt? How do you like it vs the Sparta?
It has performed flawlessly so far in saltwater. I just do a freshwater rinse when I am done and let it air dry before putting it away. I have three avid pro's to give you an idea how much I like them (5/7 and two 7/9) . The Sparta is very nice and its what I use for offshore but inshore I stick to the avid pro's since they are quite a bit lighter and easily get the job done.
I keep my Avid Pro in freshwater. I like that it is narrow and tall. Great reel!
Excellent equipment!
The kayak can go in reverse if you turn the pedals around

Nice video!
Thank you!, Ya'll make great gear that is a pleasure to fish with.
Rods are too heavy , terrible 😢
Any recommendations on a lighter 9' 9wt rod that weighs less for less than 100 bucks? I have a Redington Vice 8wt that is more than double the costs and weighs more and a 8' 9wt Hardy Zane that is about 8 times the price and weighs about the same as the Salt Pro which is one foot longer. I am genuinely interested and would be interested in buying one to try out. I don't work for Maxcatch, just kind of started getting alot of their gear because I like what they offer for the price point so now I have lots of their stuff, lol.
Be very careful when you pull out the bearing. Mine dissembled after take it out and have to put all small pieces back.
Yeah, when the needle bearings come out of the carrier (plastic housing) they can be a bit tedious to put back in. If they do fall out, it is usually a sign that they need a bit of grease on it. The grease lubricates them but it also holds the needle bearings in place.
Can you tell me what your set up is on the Benz battle car?
shoot me an email at stealthfisha555 @ gmail.com and I will get you some info on it
Man I hope you see this so I can get some info
I just ordered these 2 days ago with felt. I was worried they may be too small or big for me but after watching your review I feel better about the size I got. Was worried about the quality also considering the price but seem well made.
Will you have any videos of you using this rod?
I'll try to get some video tomorrow using it, going out on the SUP to chase some redfish in the morning.
@@StealthFisha awesome! I appreciate your review of the rod regardless! Thank you.
Why is the line black?
Its a sinking fly line, that just happens to be the color they offer the sink rate I use, 6 inches per second in this case. Great line, works well and sinks consistently.
Great review! I like MaxCatch reels. I have two Avid Pros in 3/5 and 5/7 as well as the HVC 7/8 and Sparta 7/9. They are all fantastic. I just bought the Ultraglass 7' 3wt in orange for small streams in the backcountry.
Thats a nice collection you have. How do you like the HVC? I am interested in picking one up soon. The price on its great and I need something to throw on a spare 8wt I have laying around to use as a loaner for people coming into town that don't have saltwater sized gear.
I use the HVC on a 10’6” 3wt Switch rod in the salt for sea run cutthroats. It’s great, very light and very smooth. If I ran Bauer, Ross, Lamson, or about any other reel company other Danielsson, I’d be worried.
I like the HVC better than the Drake. I have a Drake that I use on a 6wt. The spool release knob is really small, it’s difficult to get a firm grip or enough leverage to unscrew it to change spools. This is especially true with wet hands .
