Bigger the roots bigger the fruits. Bigger pot should get you bigger yield in theory.

Nice video! Thanks for the great tips. I just went to home Depot yest and got 2 small purple pansys. They are bit smaller then the ones in your videos. I also got 2 small viola flowers yellow & blue. They are the ones you mentioned were your fav. So my question is if i put one small pansy in a bigger pot how big will one pansy flower spread and fill the pot?? For the viola im wondering if its ok to plant it in same pot with the pansy? . Also thinking of goin back to home depot and getting 2 yellow pansys to put in each pot with the purple.

Even before man invented fertilizer how did so many different pansies survived since the beginning of creation. I can hardly germinate a seed and hardly get a flower. Millions of years ago our ancestors were busy hunting so how did these Pansies survived in hands of wild animals. It is unbelievable that not a single variety of Pansy or any flower became extinct. Darwin's theory of evolution has it all.

I'm in the process of tearing out my (Seattle-ish area) yard, leveling it and applying some sort of sensible/responsible landscaping to it. Saw this backyard habitat video over the weekend and got excited. Annnnnd then discovered that the program mentioned here only applies to Oregon. Darn. Surely we have something equivalent here in Washington. Perhaps we do, but it's nowhere near as obvious and/or thorough as the program described here. Or perhaps my search approach is insufficient. Trying not to feel deflated... sigh. Great / highly motivating video, though.

Hey Patrick, I'm so glad our video got you excited about native plants! I don't know of any equivalent program in the Seattle area, but I know there are a handful of exceptional independent garden centers up there that should be able to help you re-landscape with plants native to that area.

    • @CornellFarms

@@bchsnaz There are so many amazing independent Garden Centers in the Seattle area! Swansons, Sky Nursery, West Seattle, and if you don't mind a gorgeous drive and ferry ride, Bayview Garden & cafe on Whidbey Island.

Your hummingbird must not have received the memo! Or perhaps they've simply sworn off red flowers after one particularly bad nectar hangover. 😆 In all seriousness, we've seen hummingbirds go for nectar-rich flowers across the color spectrum, so it seems yours just likes whatever you have blooming in yellow the best.
