Maybe we need a producer in the background getting people set up on zoom before it's their turn to speak! It's so difficult for people that don't use it regularly. I do use zoom all the time and when I tried to join the zoom meeting late and wasn't able to, unfortunately.

Glad to hear the council has the same opinion as the community. This 5 point heart of Gibsons is not the place for such a large mass to only home 26 families. The value of that land has SO much room for possibility.. why plop a massive unit. The developer is really trying to sell a pile of shit as gold. ALSO the Touchstone development will be adding a hotel and so much better amenities than what this tiny dev offers.

The new tree by law is too complicated and far reaching. My neighbour has a Garry Oak that sheds acorns, and amongst my rhodos I found a 2 ft tall Garry Oak seedling the diameter of a pencil and I pulled it up. Because it is a schedule B protected species, I am liable for a $5000 fine. We do need a tree protection by law to stop developers and builders from needless mature tree removal. We do not need a bylaw that micro manages our gardening or threatens residents with fines for something as simple as screwing a cup hook into a big leaf maple tree. Access the entire 41 page bylaw on the Town website and read it... before someone turns you in for cutting that drooping cedar branch along the driveway.

Geez is that our mayor driving while this motion is being voted on? No wonder our town is becoming a mess and ill managed

I hear a lot about the stress this council undergoes. In the position of public office there will be elements of stress, you must try to reach common ground with both sides in many situations. Many citizens have also been stressed - unnecessarily - there has been no common ground reached. Form and character has been too drastically ignored, replaced by high density and over- height construction - underground parking - on the aquifer/abutting the harbour. The frightening possibility of breach of the aquifer, contaminated site issues, loss of natural habitat, open views to the marina, losing even the head lease to private development, will mean the Town has not listened and accommodated both sides of the discussion. Common ground may never be reached, and so it may never be a win-win situation, and for many a loss of Gibsons' finest natural asset (for everyone), its historic landing, and seaside lifestyle. Past council members, this council and Mr. Fuerniss should understand development that is so far from meeting the common good, will have a negative impact on the community and the environment beyond any two year extension.

Starting at 2:15, "The Town has hired a geotechnical engineer and a hydrogeologist to review whether the proposed designs protect the aquifer sufficiently". Sufficiently? Let's be crystal clear - anything less than complete protection is insufficient.
