sometimes I sing stuff
"Creep" Radiohead cover
My super talented friends, Ailsa & Dylan Woodring, have an amazing acoustic duo called "Ghost Story". At one of their shows this weekend, Ailsa kindly let me borrow the mic so that I could have a chance to sing- and I am so thankful! :)
Check out Ghost Story on instagram! You won't be disappointed!

"Still Hurting" Cover, The Last Five Years
Переглядів 765 років тому
This is a 2016 recording of one of my favorite songs to sing, "Still Hurting" from Jason Robert Brown's musical "The Last Five Years". My dear friend Chad Baker played the accompaniment for me, and we were recorded/mixed by the fabulous Kody Orris!

This is probably one of my favorite songs ever written and I will never feel like I've done it true justice, but I will sure as hell try! Somehow after 8 years of knowing each other, we had never done a gig together- so we decided to give this a try. What are we calling ourselves? Ginger & Tonic. Guess which is which. Need a chill acoustic sound to bring some life into your event? We can help. ...

Folk Duets - "Wondrous Love", arr. Richard Walters
Переглядів 6336 років тому
A haunting SA arrangement of one of our favorite folk hymns, Ailsa (mezzo) and I have performed Walter's version of 'Wondrous Love' several times for church services- particularly around Easter - and finally got around to getting it recorded. We hope you enjoy listening :) Also, major shout out to Kody Orris as always for being our best friend and doing these recordings for us!

This song is very near and dear to my heart, and I hope it was communicated to the audience that received it. You’ve got giant plans to shine as brightly as the sun. Courtney Cunningham, accompanied by Scott Ewing Musical: Little Women Music: Jason Howland

Sometimes instead of prepping for your finals you make silly videos on your shitty Mac webcam 😂 But I definitely feel better! Sorry for the bad quality! Thank you Scott Ewing for being an incredible voice teacher and for today, accompanist as well ❤️
Climbing Uphill - The Last Five Years

Hi! I got stressed so I sang a song. I have a teeny MacBook Air, a shitty mic, and a lot of exams so I decided to escape from it all and make this silly video. It's not great but it let me blow off some steam and sing some JRB again so I am happy! Thank you Chad as always for being my incredible accompanist and to Scott for encouraging my occasional musical experiments. The Last Five Years was ...

A modest attempt at a Sondheim classic for fun. This recording is by no means formal I was stressed during midterms and I LOVE this song so I thought I'd try some music therapy :) Please excuse the awkward facial expressions I clearly have no idea how to sing for a camera hahaha!!! Thank you so much to the marvelous Chad Baker for playing for me, and to Kody Orris for recording me! I love you b...
This is so good ❤
Absolute goosebumps! What a voice. You carried this song so well ❤
sublime
How does this not have more attention...this is absolutely insane!! 660 likes only? How!? This was simply just so beautiful, emotive, and breathtaking. I'm at a loss of words, how to express all this...the fact that you call it just a modest cover 😭 "Awkward facial expressions" where honey? Ugly singing faces will be made but your presence is great and you did amazing. <3
What a voice. What a performance. Expressive, emotive...I feel you.
Thank you so so much! <3
Oh my goodness what a phenomenal performance. So beautiful.
Thank you for your kindness!
Wonderful. Added to my playlist.
What an honor! Thank you so much!
Wonderfully done! Thank you!
Thank YOU so so much!
ROBERT [speaking]: Stop!...What do you get? [Sings] Someone to hold you too close, Someone to hurt you too deep, Someone to sit in your chair, To ruin your sleep. PAUL: That's true, but there's more to it than that. SARAH: Is that all you think there is to it? HARRY: You've got so many reasons for not being with someone, but Robert, you haven't got one good reason for being alone. LARRY: Come on, you're on to something, Bobby. You're on to something. ROBERT: Someone to need you too much, Someone to know you too well, Someone to pull you up short And put you through hell. DAVID: You see what you look for, you know. JOANNE: You're not a kid anymore, Robby. I don't think you'll ever be a kid again, kiddo. PETER: Hey, buddy, don't be afraid it won't be perfect. The only thing to be afraid of really is that it won't be. JENNY: Don't stop now. Keep going. ROBERT: Someone you have to let in, Someone whose feelings you spare, Someone who, like it or not, Will want you to share A little, a lot. SUSAN: And what does all that mean? LARRY: Robert, how do you know so much about it when you've never been there? HARRY: It's much better living it than looking at it, Robert. PETER: Add 'em up, Bobby. Add 'em up. ROBERT: Someone to crowd you with love, Someone to force you to care, Someone to make you come through, Who'll always be there, As frightened as you Of being alive, Being alive, Being alive, Being alive. AMY: Blow out the candles, Robert, and make a wish. *Want* something! Want *something*! ROBERT: Somebody, hold me too close, Somebody, hurt me too deep, Somebody, sit in my chair And ruin my sleep And make me aware Of being alive, Being alive. Somebody, need me too much, Somebody, know me too well, Somebody, pull me up short And put me through hell And give me support For being alive, Make me alive. Make me confused, Mock me with praise, Let me be used, Vary my days. But alone is alone, not alive. Somebody, crowd me with love, Somebody, force me to care, Somebody, make me come through, I'll always be there, As frightened as you, To help us survive Being alive, Being alive, Being alive!
gorgeous voice!! <3
thank you :)
I really liked your belting and no lie, your technique is so much better than Rosalie Craig. I think in two places, you were not sure about your voice, started a bit weak but quickly recovered. But trust yourself girl, you have a very strong voice.
Wow, what a compliment- thank you so so much! And yes I agree, I made this recording about many years ago and I was unsure of myself in many ways... not just my voice... I have grown to trust myself more! I appreciate the feedback. :)
Courtney and Adam Driver’s renditions of this are the best. And by the way I also love everything about this including her facial expressions and the way she expresses herself! 🤙❤️🤙
You are too kind! Thank you so much!
That was a fantastic rendition of Being Alive - the piano playing was beautiful, your dress is beautiful and your voice is beautiful. As for facial expressions.... this song is supposed to be about a person going through a transformational change in their mind.... I would think that expressions of concentration and consternation would be perfect..... you did wonderfully.
Thank you so so so much!
brilliant!
thank you!
Audio ripped---added to playlist in IPOD. THANK YOU!
wow!! I am so flattered!! Thank you so much!
Beautiful voice
Thank you! :)
Maravillosa interpretación!

This maybe my new favorite version of this song now. Neil Patrick Harris, move over
Absolutely gorgeous voice!!
Sure came through to me at this time when I need a little invitation to "Be Alive"!
Beautifully sung AND great sound quality! Brava
Wow. So rich sounding. Love the quality of your voice. Sondheim is difficult to sing.... you truly “brought” the song to your audience. Thank you.
Excellent Courtney. Piano needs tuning, but great nonetheless....
I love her voice. You are the best!!!
This is fantastic ♥
Wow! Oh my gosh the not Alive note...perfect. You sustained so well and the vibrato...gorgeous

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤Absolutely beautiful! Brings me to tears, so so beautiful
hi what key is this in?
I just answered this question above.
Love this song. Beautiful voice.
Love this
So beautiful! Do you know where I can get the sheet music for this?
What key is this in?
Angie Thompson did you ever figure that out? I would like to know also!
This version is in Bb. (Starting note is F above middle c.) For comparison, the original cast recording with Dean Jones is in D (minor sixth lower), and the 2006 recording with Raul Esparza is in Eb (a fifth lower).
This cover amazing, no criticism from me. I truly love this!
yes thank you
WOW this is beautiful!
You should audition for the London Company revival!
Very beautiful!
This is one of my favorite songs and you did it justice. Nicely done! :-)
Brilliant! Real character in your voice.

Dear sweet Courtney. You are too hard on yourself. Your facial expressions are awesome...they show exactly how you want to express the meaning behind this song. This is amazing, don't tell yourself any different. Sing Courtney, sing!
