This is the only vocal among the 10 tracks of this 1960 album. Not credited here, but on the LP label, Side One, the vocalist on this 4th track is listed as Carol Morvan - better know by her stage name, Carol Sloane, whose 30-album recording career began about a year later, after being a hit at the 1961 Newport Jazz Festival. She died on Jan. 23, 2023, at age 85. A documentary film about her life "Sloane: A Jazz Singer" has won major awards at film festivals in 2024 and in now in general release.

Issued in 1968, when Zenith Radio & TV celebrated it's 50th anniversary (they formed in 1918.)The song is from 1962, and was on a collection of Japanese related songs by Norrie Paramour, who was British. His UK version of the album appeared on EMI/Columbia in 1962, issued to Capitol in the US for release.

Steve Lawrence was always a top notch class act, and to have a show like this, hosted by Steve Allen, with this fantastic big band and equally fantastic arrangements that just swung like nothing else, must have been a joy for music lovers back then! Unfortunately it's a musical desert on any TV channel now, and that's why UA-cam is such an incredible treasure trove of musical finds for people who genuinely love this kind of quality music and playing.

What I like best about this song was the reference to the locations that were visited. Dining for lunch at the 21 club, going to Sardis, and on the beach at Malibu, and watching the Sun come up. All the part of the prelude to a romance that could be the start of something big! And then you want to be where he is or where she is which is really so beautiful in the early stages of any romance/relationship that’s meant to be! And hopefully continues throughout the lifetime of that lucky couple! ❤❤
