66C CS is a solid offensive use of CS for Tsurugi. On hit, CS doesn't come out. On block, Tsurugi can continue pressure safely, set up a throw, or potentially set up a crossup.

Trying to make my routing more fumble proof by replacing 214X j236[B] with 214X 2[C] 6[C]. Damage is comparable (sometimes even better than j236[B] routing) but it uses 2 bounces, making it incompatible with low health and 5 GRD full meter dump routing. Doesn't work with 2C in the starter or with B normal starters that don't go right into 214X without counterhit. Routes shown work in the corner.

Tsurugi can punish Kaguya 623A(2) j214C with 623C for a guaranteed punish. 236C, 66C, and FF are also solid active responses to avoid or challenge the setup. Do not try to 3D or dash out the setup, at least as Tsurugi.

There's 6 routes here: midscreen and corner routing with 100 meter, 200 meter with more than 30% health, and 200 meter with less than 30% health.

Tsurugi's 7 dlj6C round start vs Tsurugi is fairly strong and forces Tsurugi to make commitments to call out Tsurugi. With meter, 7 dlj6C punishes 236C, 66C, and 66B. It loses to run up 3C; however, if you hold 7, wait to react to the super flash with j6C, and then wait to react to run ups, you can challenge with j2C or j2[C] to change up the time you land and can potentially punish the 3C atte...

CVO is still plus 3 on block so that's pretty cool. The 1st route is with 100 meter. The 2nd is with 200 meter and more than 30% health. The 3rd is with 200 meter and less than 30% health. The routes all work in the corner too. 3C 2[C] 623A 2C 5C is pretty neat, but I haven't found other places where that combo part is useful yet.

This video briefly goes into Tsurugi's FF and ways to play around it. It mostly focuses on ways to punish FF followups when CS is available and the post CS situation when Tsurugi is in FF stance, but a lot of it can generally apply to Tsurugi's FF pressure.

Close buttons (5B or 2B for example) into 3C 2Aw can link into 5A for hit confirms. Staggers can be done as well to vary pressure.

Input: 5C 93A~1B On 5C block: 2A rebeat On 5C hit: 5C 9jB 5C into jB hits all standing character except Mika. At max range 5C, counterhit is required for jB to connect.

Tsurugi can restand reset the opponent after 214X CS if 214X induces a crumple state. 2[C] and 6C are good options. That said, the rest has to be done very early and only tacks on about 1500 damage if successful, so this isn't all that great.

Full combo into 236XA leaves Tsurugi at plus 32 when the opponent techs immediately. 623C always leaves Tsurugi at plus 31 when the opponent techs immediately. In either case, 6[C] (33F) into CS can safely meaty and punish reversals. 6[C] is CS cancellable on whiff, so delay/no techs cannot punish.

A full combo into 236XA leaves Tsurugi at plus 32. In this case, FF4X dljC can safe jump 6F reversals when he doesn't have vorpal. Replacing dljC with dljB can safe jump 5F reversals. Also, I included 623B CS routing: [3341] 623B cs j236[B] 214A 5C jA jB jC 5B 236BA 2C 236AA

IW into 7j2[C] will end up on either the left or right side depending on how much the j2[C] is delayed. It is a true crossup if it does crossup. It can catch all techs unless done immediately. j2[C] is a big commitment, so this kinda sucks, but it's something in the bag of tricks.

I think this can be consistently blocked given time and recognizing where Tsurugi is at when CS occurs, but until then, it's basically a 50/50 (10F low vs 9F high). Note that when CS is done as early as possible in the air, immediate jB leaves you at 7F. Ideally, you'd do a very slight delay so that 66B can combo. Otherwise, you'll need meter to convert with j236C.
