I had an on-site interview the other day, I felt like I needed prompting on a couple of questions but the interview ran over almost an hour in addition to the 90 minutes that were scheduled (I had five different people asking me questions). The most senior member who was in charge of the interview kept getting calls (production line had stopped) and at the conclusion of the interview said he better take the call or he’ll get in trouble. This could be positive because why risk getting in trouble over a candidate you have no interest in hiring? But equally what if I was taking too long to answer questions and it was seen as a negative? Overall the experience was very positive so I’m hoping for good news.

great insights on some of the important things you would be asking yourself before switching careers or making a next move. I like all the points, but one thing to add is the age factor also plays a big role in deciding on how you want to transition to the next level. Its easier to move around in your 20s or 30s, but tough in 40s - 50s because of share volume of career experience gained after graduation. In my opinion, industry do matter after you have gained significant experiences (10+ years), but that's just my opinion.

I'm not sure if I'm overanalyzing, but yesterday I had a panel interview with a company. The company explained in the interview that they had a few more candidates to get through this week, but that they will make a decision, when they want the job to start, etc. Today I find out that there is a very similar job that posted yesterday on indeed which is very similar to the job, but it seems to require a little less experience. In addition, I looked at the company website, and the job is posted there. I know that it is the same job as indeed because it had a job id, which is the exact id listed in the company's website posting as well. And judging by other job postings, this is a unique ID for the posting itself. One interesting detail is that on the company website, a job with the same description was posted with a start date yesterday and a unposting date this coming sunday, just 5 days. Then, right when I started this youtube comment, I tried to refer back to the company website to bring up the job listing, and its gone (it early and not working hours yet). I'm not sure what, if any, this means for my job application/interview.

I made it to the group discussion round with Deloitte. It was the most exhausting interview I've ever had. To the point where I just went ahead and withdrew my application. I'm great at what I do (which involves being alone 9/10 not needing to interact with others lol) but HORRIBLE at interpersonal communication. And I probably come off as an asshole because I'm very short and to the point. My federal job pretty much just required me to take technical test to confirm my skills, get a security clearance, and start. I wish other companies did this or had other methods to screen potential candidates as not everyone is great at the standard interview.

I just bumped into your channel and I appreciate how you take time out to reply questions. So I had my first remote work interview 3days ago, it went from the supposed 45mins to 1hr 38mins.. There were 3 interviewers BTW. In the beginning, one of them said they liked how I am already picturing myself in their team after I answered the usual; tell me about yourself question.. Along the line, another said, she liked my confidence.. Then when I was asked why they should hire me, after my explanation, I pulled out a work plan of what I’ll be doing on my first 90days if I become successful and one of them left a thumbs up on the screen.. The lead interviewer then said, I came really prepared.. Then he asked what my salary expectations were and when I mentioned he asked if we could negotiate and we did.. In the end he mentioned that, they have other candidates to interview, but if I’m successful, the next step would be to review my docs. They even forgot to ask me if I had any questions and when they were about to log off, I rose my hand to ask my question and they apologised, and answered my questions really well.. What do you think?

I actually downloaded an ATS system as an "employer", and tried it out. I posted a fake job (sorry, this was for research), and about 30 people applied before it was taken down. The results were astonishing. . A resume might say "Software developer with background in test automation using Selenium, Cucumber, and includes various development project using React", and from this, the ATS will pick out all the key words that are important and put them in a list for me. What does it pick out? . "With" / "Test" / "Cucumber" / "Various" / "And" <-- it will identify these word as "skills" and then rank the applicant based on them. With the particular ATS I used, there appears to be literally no way to "hack" the system so that it picks your resume. My team and I tried every bizarre list of words you can think of and it was always random what it chose, no matter what format we used. . I'm currently trying to get a hold of Indeed's ATS and perform the same experiments to see if it's the same deal, or if their particular ATS works differently. Indeed no longer allows new people to post jobs, and only allows established corporations to post anything, meaning I'm unable to access it. I'm looking for anyone who might have the ability to post a job using Indeed's site so we can run some test and see what's up. Reach out to me if interested.
