Making a Two-Stage Dust Collection System
You didn’t show the details of how you tapered using the jointer!
Any way I could get some plans for this??
Very impressed. Don’t have a lathe so this is helpful. Thank you
You should consider doing a collapsible one
Do you have the plan on how to build the bar?
Camera was far away could not see what u doing guys 👎🏽
How much does the bar weigh roughly?
I honestly have no idea. It’s pretty heavy though with the granite counter.
Are you taking on new projects?
Absolutely! Feel free to email us from our website.
Great video. I just got commissioned to make 2 mobile bars so glad I came across your channel. What were your overall dimensions if you dont mind me asking?
I want to say 42x24 on that one but we’ve made them all sorts of sizes.
Guys I watched your video on tapering the legs on the jointer. 20 years I've never seen that done so I went to try it out and it works. Thanks for sharing your video
Great! Glad to hear it!
You'll made that seem so easy...lol
Thanks!
That's a nice design.
Thank you! Cheers!
The mustard bottle is genius
It’s honestly the best way to do it. Never clogs and easy to clean off the dried glue
Wow! That’s impressive!
Thanks so much!!
Beautiful 😍
Thank you!
U have sexy legs 😅
Wow
How did you place that jig on ther
Nails
One of the more informative videos on UA-cam! Good job.
Thanks so much!
Without a planer any suggestions on achieving the tapered look?
Tapering with a table saw is simple if you only taper one or two sides. Doing all four requires a good bit of math.
A guy on youtube named steve ramsey has a video on an easy jig to use for tapered legs on a table saw.
Any other way to taper legs? thanks for your video great help to a 71-year-old starting woodwork
Table saw works well for a one or two sided taper.
🌹🌹🌹💔💔💔💔🌺🌺🌺🌺💕💕💕❤❤❤❤ very nice
Simplicity today is a GREAT. Very nicely done.
do you have a link by chance for where you purchased your ice chest? This is gorgeous!
There should be a link in our description but the stainless ice chest itself was ordered from Amazon. If you’re interested in a full bar we can help you there. Lol
Beautiful. Well done…
short, sweet, informative!
Thanks!!
How many passes over the jointer for side ? Just till it looks good? Or did you go to a measurement thanks
It just depends but typically 6-8 per side if four sided. 14 per side if just tapering 2 sides
Love it , what size is this Bar ?
We’ve built a few of these each at slightly different dimensions. The one in the video is about 56 wide by 24 deep on the outside. The ice chest is 20.5x20.5
Is this a yellow or white pine?
Yellow Pine
LOL Looks bad
We know. It’s actually meant to look a bit rough. Using a woodblock.
What size wood did you use and what stain?
2x10 pine and dark walnut stain. The pre stain conditioner link is in our description. Thanks!!!
💕💕💕 LOVE IT 💕💕💕
Thanks!!
If you spray stain on softwoods that are hard to stain it doesn't Penetrate the pores as much and soak in like wipe on. Leaves a more uniform finish. Don't forget to wipe though.
Which tool did you use to make those curved edges on the wood
That design looks really nice
A roundover bit on a handheld edge router.
It still doesn’t look great. I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to stain pine and I’m still not happy with it. Conditioner helps, but you still lose the natural grain pattern
There really isn't a perfect way to stain pine......just better ways. If you use a dye it is a bit more uniform but you lose some of the grain if quarter sawn lumber is used.
I've done something similar but without the pre-stain. I'm going to try that next thanks. In my previous project my wood ends up feeling a little furry (maybe I didn't sand enough I sanded by hand and with only one grit), and they collect dust like crazy. Is there something else I can use over a stain to help make it super smooth and easier to dust?
Use a polyurethane coat. Let dry. Sand very lightly with a high grit. Then clean and coat again. Thanks!!
What's the name of the wood stain?
It was a Dark Walnut stain. I think it was MinWax
Looks great! Love the natural look.
Very vague answers about stain color. You continue to say walnut. There are different walnut stains.
No top coat?
We used a rub on furniture finish that we make ourselves. It's one part polyurethane, one part mineral spirits, and one part linseed oil.
This leaves a lot to guessing. Do you stain both sides of wood at once? Or one side at a time? I'd assume one side at a time since I didn't see any finishing pyramids. How long did the stain sit before you wiped it off? One or two coats of stain? What do you mean by "oil" the wood? I'm a total amateur and want to know every detail so I can improve my art. Thanks!
Hi thanks for giving me an idea. After staining, can i paint it with a polyurethanes to a glossy look or apply some resin epoxy (to harden the wood)?
Polyurethane tends to yellow. I would go with polycrylic
We use a furniture finish mixture that we make. It isn't super glossy but very nice to use. It's one part polyurethane, one part mineral spirits, one part linseed oil.
4 minuter into a 5 minute staining video..... no staining hummmm. Needs a new title maybe
Good stuff, but I didnt come here for all of this. Please change the name of this video.
I'm curious where you got the brackets that are holding up the shelf? I love them
Thanks. We bought them from Amazon. I added a link in the description if you wanna check them out (top link).
Thank you!!!
Beautiful but what color did you use?
Thanks!! It was a walnut color stain.
@@CardinalCreekWoodcrafts just walnut or dark walnut?
What color stain did you use? I have a pine piece that I am trying to stain and I can't get it to hold a dark stain. I used Miniwax Special Walnut.
It was a walnut color stain. Thanks!!
@@CardinalCreekWoodcrafts Theres American walnut... Special walnut Dark walnut Ect. Which walnut stain? Because I was also interested in what stain you used because Im wanting to stain my shelves and loved the color that you used on yours ...but you didnt mention it or show it in the video...you only showed the pre stain conditioner
Yep same here
Beatifull
Thanks!
Does staining pine like this contribute to its hardness or should a hardening agent be considered?
Unfortunately it won't help to harden but you can add some sort of finished that will marginally help (like polyurethane).
Your 5:14 video is titled "Staining pine wood shelves" but 4:00 is taken up in actually making the shelf. Then there is no explanation of your techniques or products you are using. Not a very helpful video on staining pine. Sorry but that's my thoughts.
It’s also not titled “HOW to stain pine wood shelves”
@@thelifeofisaac it's also not titled, "how to make a shelf with a lot of really expensive woodworking equipment." This is clickbait to see this guy show off and try to get business for this company... This is one of the first videos that come up when you search how to stain wood, btw. He actually says in the beginning I'll going to go through the process we use when we stain... rub it on? He doesn't even show removing the excess...
@@thelifeofisaache does say “I’m going to show you how” though. lol.
