Just came back from a holiday in Turkey and this footage is from a fire in our hotel that happend. There wasn't even a fire alarm to wake up the guests. How ridiculous is that? A young lad was banging on doors waking up sleeping hotel guests. When guests complained to hotel management within minutes of the firemen leaving about the circumatances and the lack of an alarm, they were told if you dont like it then pack your bags and leave. Some decided to do just that. Some people chose to sleep outside on sun loungers with blankets from their rooms. I have say that the kitchen staff and waiters were absolutely brilliant during my stay. However reception amd management were rude, insulting and sarcastic to say the least. A Scottish man said he didn't feel safe as he was staying there with his children. The reception manager tried to have him arrested by the police, claiming he was being aggressive. This was definitely not happening as he was very calm from what I witnessed. This was disgusting behaviour, and complete lack of accountability by the hotel. A fire alarm is there to give warning, and can save lives. We were all thankful that no one was inured or died in the fire. However it could have been much much worse. I recorded this small clip to show that beds and pillows are stored in the FIRE EXIT STAIRWELL. This is a complete disgrace.
DO NOT STAY AT THE SUNBAY PARK HOTEL IN MARMARIS TURKEY.
I actually had a fantastic time in the country. But the Sunbay Park Hotel is plaugued with daily incidents, occurances and complaints from guests. A staff member was sacked for allegedly attempting to rape a guest, when confronted by other guests he pulled a knife. Within 2 days he was back at his post as the claim was a lack of evidence. Scared women most of the week who I and another guestfrom Sheffield, escorted to their rooms for saftey said other men were groping their own private parts and making gestures toward them. Drunk guests fighting with the poice called again and their stay at the hotel was terminated. We paid for a family room but were given one bed on our arrival, and told we cannot change rooms by the reception manager waving us away rudely with his hand. A horrible first impression within minutes of my arrival. A handy man/cleaner brought us an extra single bed to make our small room even smaller. We didnt have electricity in the room the following morning and had to complain again. This is the second day by the way. Wifi signal only worked in reception so you had no access to anything while in your room. Oh, and coincidentally the night of the fire when everyone was talking about writing reviews and the rudeness of hotel management, the internet conviniently stopped working. One for the conspiracy theorists.
I would definitely back to Turkey again, but the deplorable standards of the Sunbay Park Hotel would make many others think twice. I visisted a hotel I stayed at on a previous visit to turkey and the manager gave me a big hug, told me not to pay for drink and food and conveyed this message through to his staff. All who I have kept in touch with. Their manners, conduct, character , and customer service are exemplary. They are a great example for providing a fantastic all round experience at a hotel. I must say again that the waiters and kitchen staff at the Sunbay Park Hotel were just like this. They were excellent to me, however everyone else failed miserably. To compound the many issues at the Sunbay Park Hotel on my second to last day I was speaking to an English couple in reception who had had their money, and cards stolen from their room. They complained and was told you should gave had a safety deposit box. Again no accountability from hotel management. Avoid this place like any disease asyou may have a terrible experience or not live to tell the tale. I mean that literally. People could have died. I guess I will be blocked. This is the least of my concerns. People and their children need to know so they can be in a safe enviroment that has a good standard.
