Hearing What the Scriptures say About Women * July 7, 2024
Wow, I really appreciate how much Caren pulled some much out of scripture to teach about Abigail. There is so much depth and relevance in Abigail's story. I remember hearing a teaching on Abigail by another pastor at a church that promotes male-headship. That church teaches that a woman’s core sin is autonomy and all women should place themselves under the authority of a spiritual authority which can only be a male. That pastor dismissed Abigail's virtuous character by objectifying her as a “hot woman.” That pastor emphasized how “hot” she was and David got himself a “hot” new wife. That pastor said Abigail was not acting autonomous, because she placed herself under the authority of David. Rubbish. I really appreciate Caren’s faith in scripture and use of it as the source of her teaching and not a cultural agenda.
❤❤
Thank you, Jesus! Side effects are taken care of Pastor John Roy!
Enjoyable! Thank you. RIP Nancy Griffith.

Thank you for letting us know! We love and miss you :)
Yes, I am watching. The 1 minute sermons (which I don't always get to watch on Monday hence the comment on Wednesday) does two things for me... 1. Makes me stop in the middle if the week to breathe and change my mindset. To literally turn my eyes on Jesus and off of my own stupid self mid-week. 2. Reminds me of the sermon and it's a double check if I've applied anything from it during my week thus far.
I'm watching you, jeanne
Great job, Sir!!!
Great job, Angela! Reminded me of Dr Carter in King Tut’s tomb.
First - yes indeed - Thank you Eden. This adult who has never grown up enjoys your bible stories. They matter! Second - love song for Susan is “Harvest Moon” Neil Young - UA-cam version with rolling lyrics though we either of us dance.
It HAS been a good week! Yes, times are very different and sometimes hard. However, I'm discovering and seeing some things that have been here all along and I haven't seen for a while. Watching my wife get excited about birds coming to the feeders she has filled up, then re-discovering how beautiful those creatures are. Got reminded of the old Dolly Parton Song "God's Coloring Book" which just about sums it up. Thank you for doing these. They mean a lot to all of us!
Excellent discussion Thanks for taking the time help us all..
Thanks for this Blessing
