They say us IT and Low Voltage guys can't do pipe work... they're probably right.
How we interview and begin training Low Voltage Techs - Apprentices average over $55k/yr.

Here at Sprinter IT we work hard to build the best techs around, we often hire experienced techs as well - but attention to detail and knowledge against a resume is key. here in our LV lab you'll find a basic setup, and a few in-wall obstacles where we discover if you know how to use a vacuum and make your faceplates level or if you start throwing tools when you hit an old window frame.... comp...
A quick little 80 drop cat6 install for a client
Переглядів 4,1 тис.2 роки тому
Here we have a remodel that's about 80 total cat6 drops, per client spec we separate voice and data to allow segmented networks. they also spec 50% utilization on switches.v Have questions? ask away! lots of ways to skin the cat, always looking to learn and teach! This took 2 guys about 3 nights to complete.
how to assemble the Chattsworth Products Inc 11961-718 20u Fixed Wall Rack #TeamSprinter

A quick how to video as we see new and old techs alike accidentally misassemble these racks, or struggle badly.
Creating a bundle and LABELING your cat6 network wire to install.
Переглядів 25 тис.3 роки тому
In our first installment of on the job training Chris shows us his preferred method for building and labeling a small bundle of 20 cables. Proper bundling creates easy pulling cat6 and network drops that aren't damaged by too much pressure on the pull. proper labeling eliminates mistakes on all fronts. From missed drops to wrong drops labels matter.
How pulling cat6 in an entire building, wing or area at once creates efficiency

How we pull 50 drops of cat6 network cabling at once to allow faster installs, cleaner pathways and more efficiency. this is a small facility which helped too.
Damn that’s clean
Actually a great idea... I see tons of these filing cabinets for free pickup or dirt cheap all the time.
I label the box and cable with a Sharpie. Once I've pulled the cables I fit the RJ45s and then put the labels on.
Over 55k a year? So poverty wage?
Great idea. Great checklist as well, quite comprehensive
How many times do you say thought process in this clip? lol
Okay, the technician do not build out blueprints and plans. They simply install the cable according to the plans. What is this you have going on?
How do I get a job doing this with no experience?

WATCHING THIS BEFORE MY INTERVEIW THIS TUESDAY LETS GO
Anyone know how to get started in this trade I applied for an apprentice to 3 different companies and didnt get accepted
Fire stops are the bain of my existance, I dont have a fancy camera but I am not afraid to open an outlet or switch and stick a rod in the wall.
Nice set up !
I may be accepting a job and i have literally no experience. Im very nervous. He knows i have no experience. So i decided id start watching youtube to get a jump on it. im just so tired of being a nobody in a kitchen when im a really smart person and hard worker. God i hope this guy isn’t making a mistake hiring me. I hope i finally found an out, and finally have the income to land a partner who isn’t a piece of shit. I just want a family.
Well how is it going are you learning the trade and is your technician a good teacher ?
Hope it's going well bro. I left the kitchen recently and started electrical work. Do you enjoy your job so far?
soyjack low voltage vs chad electrician

@@ryanwilliams9984 lmao
Imo, it's a waste of time and materials to velcro entire run above drop tile... velcro in exposed ceilings and at head end imo
So do people typically go to trade school before this?
I’ve been doing low voltage for residential this seems dope to dope to do for commercial I would love to learn the best way to do it , if you guys are located near riverside CA I would be down to work with you 🤙🔥
Labeling is the last thing you do. Just pull all the drops where they need to be, terminate everything, then use special tools to tone/identify, test and label. Data 1 and Data 2 don't have to be right next to each other on the same faceplate.
That is a colossal waste of time, and yes they don't have to be next to each other but it's the little things that keep customers coming back. label your runs and organize
This is a great method. I do hvac and a lot of training of younger techs. Providing a space for hands on work before stepping into a customers property will save a ton of aggravation and uncomfortable conversations
I think it's a great way to test and teach. What I do not require a lot of those components, so it is following or manipulating what is put up for us. I am just seeking to get certified in it I feel it will help me overall. The company I work for is coast to coast work and overseas if needed.
I wouldn't mind coming and doing this just for fun....lol. You guys should expand into training and education as an additional revenue stream for the company, could perhaps become a BICSI ATF, or just do your own thing separate of BICSI.
It's in the plans! I am looking to build out a full practical lab, with bicsi atf as well. It'll be 1-2 yrs yet but it's planned for!
There's a better way...
Agreed

What are the meaning of D60,30,20 etc?
It's the cable identifier so in this case D60 stands for Data60, some clients use "basic" schemes like that, others are tia606b and would be more in depth but ultimately still are a number just may be TR01-10-101A-04, 05, and so on.
To be honest there should have been more training in school for it or an accelerated program
100% agree, Chris (owner) here and the IT Networking program I was a part of in college taught nothing usable. It's unfortunate really
@@SprinterBusiness when I graduated college (web master at the time) my professor use to take me on side jobs for cable installs and server setups. I was out of my element for all it at the time. Was more of a software guy, power user and desktop specialist. Took quite a long time to learn how small businesses, enterprises and non profits worked. Took even forever to really really learn about structured cabling by scraping things on the internet together
Wow!! What an investment, but I'm sure it paid off quickly by not hiring the wrong people. Could you do some packout and vehicle tours? Also, any other investments like this your business has made.
Sorry I haven't responded yet! I'll work on more!
what brand of patch cables are you using?
We use Vertical Cable and Belden primarily, mostly VC.
I was trying to see your labeling method.
Depends on the client - but if it's smaller just Dxx for data. Vxx for voice. Camxx for cams, APxx for aps etc...
Very nice job 👍
That's definitely a great idea and process.
Thanks Chris! This is an excellent outside the box approach to technical interviewing. Love it!
Tough to find the good guys out there! Just spent 5 weeks in a data center and omg… Their techs should have taken this training. 300+ fiber lines in a 4U cable management bay and I have to find one with the same color.
Good Lord that would be painful, unfortunately our industry is riddled with un-trained folks, and we're no Saint so always trying to get better
Wow....world record cable pull, 54 cables at once...lol. I can't say I've ever pulled THAT many at one time but is does often make more sense, in some cases, to pull from the work area outlets to the TR for sure. Helps to have something like the Stingray Ceiling Grid Wire and Cable Pulling Tool, to make sure they don't snag on the drop ceiling during the pull, cause your not going to have enough people to man all those box setups in different locations.
Wow...nice looking install, done in a short amount of time, lots of little touches I really like with the colored keystones, matching color velcro, great labeling, great dressing throughout, etc....hard to find anything here to criticize.....well done.
Thank you! Clean and serviceable is always key. Color coded makes life easy!
Looser
I am running network wiring in my own house and have an attic similar to this one where did you get the wiring hooks to make it look so neat, I'd love to get some so they do not run on the attic floor
My apologies on the delay! They are called J-hooks and most electrical supply houses will carry them, we use Garvin but Caddy is very popular as well, otherwise companies like Cable And Connections sell them as well
what is the rack on the bottom...been looking for something like this
That's just 1/2 of a 5 shelf muscle rack fome home depot/menards/lowes - they work great, we double shelf the bottom and middle for better support for the server and batteries - clean, easy and relatively cheap!
So start at field towards rack and add to fish rod as you pick up drops?.
To avoid tangle or knots?.
What type of tape do you use?
We use brother flexible label tape, .47" TZe-FX631
What label machine do u use
The brother PTE-550W
