I usually do the dam side in March to April when they open the dam.The stripers from red river,i heard are cleaner and bigger than the Denison side . Love to so some fishing im in Melissa .

Lavon is my home lake too, I mainly hit the north east side. I was at the spillway recently just for a few hours and it was mainly dink sandies, I frequently hit Texoma and been hammering 2.5 lbs sandies in between the stripes but we don't keep them. I thought you were a crappie guy, this time of year most Lavon crappie have move to the staging areas so not many will be dumped in. Too bad I have not ran into you but Friday I hammered some slabs 13 to 14" with pot bellies, funny thing, people went out Saturday at the same area and all got skunked. I have a secret of catching, it's not jigging the timber or jungle stomping, which I did do yesterday and got 6 black crappie, no whites or females. You might catch a few crappie at the spillway but your best chance is below 78 in the eddy down by the deep hole. I am not sure if you can set up 4-6 rods on you yak and tight line, maybe you can get away with 4 rods but the more the better. Go north on any Lavon feeders, be near timber, 6-10 ft, set each rod at different depths, use 2" swim shad body swim baits and stroll the open areas where the peanut shad are popping. Do not jig he timber, stay clear, look for those peanuts popping, you can even cast out too, 1/16 is as heavy as you want to go with weight. If we run into each other I will show the slab pics, people who are lucky to run into me I give them the fish. My wife and I are not a fan of them, we eat very little, she prefers stripers and catfish. Get to the coves up north and fish look for those peanuts!

The old buck creek cove, they bite best just before sunrise in spring and early evening, I drive by there and blow my horn, did you guys here me. Best bite is at night by the way, most boats are off the lake by then, all that heavy boat traffic gives them lock jaw most of the day. The 2 lbers come in close if you use a glow bobber and keep it near the rocks at night, those fish are there all summer smacking on the sandbass and shad fry that are in abundance in May to July. Use green light, a 3/16 cast net and use those peanuts u catch in the net around the light, they don't have to be alive, make sure you are in 15-20 ft and near the channel, at night they don't care being around the structure unless its a full moon phase. Bring some hearing protection if you fish near the bridge LOL! This one conductor, I swear if we ever find out who is.
