    In this video he talks about dungeness crab at Kirin restaurant in Waikiki, and because I am from Honolulu Hawaii, crabs are not really plentiful, but when I was young, my father would drive down to Kaneohe,to see my uncle, aunt and my cousins, and we went to the bay at low tide but no crabs,but I would go with my brother, early in the morning to go crabbing on the other side of the island and we went to the fish store to get free fish scraps,and crabs like sand or dirt,but there's no meat ,when steamed, and it's very time consuming to get out the meat, but I wait for the soft-shell crabs, and in Waikiki, all the major Hotels buy up the market, and freeze them for the tourists, and they are not very expensive, rather very cheap, and many people don't know anything about that, but all the restaurants are aware of them, and they advertise it on their special list as you can eat them whole, fried or pan-fried,with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and a mayonnaise based dressing with French fries, excellent lunch sandwich dish, or for dinner with a salad or a soup du jour,that's French, maybe fly them in from California, or Alaska but here in the Apple I see them all the time, but I usually buy them canned and are frozen in there freezer, and I also buy like crabmeat,which is HADDOCK,AND POLLOCK, not bad as a snack or a sandwich, good cheap meal fills the gut.

      Thanks for sharing this story! It’s very interesting here that crabs are that plentiful in in Honolulu. At the same time it’s surprising to hear that dungeness is cheap 🦀.. it’s crazy the restaurants price gauge travelers 🧳

    This is the only video I found that compares the play with the movie. I read the play in college during the early 1990's but the movie that I just finished watching seemed different. Thank you for pointing out the differences! I wish Davis and Boseman could have won Oscars for their performances.

      Of course! This is one of my favorite movies and play. I too read it in college (writing for theater). I agree the Oscar’s didn’t do much justice for this film and the acting in it.

      Hey there! Thanks for watching the video. It's definitely a good organization. Since I've made this video I've advanced so much in my career. Some of it has to do with the NSCS and another portion of it comes from my work ethic. In the end any organization is what you make of it. The NSCS does keep on creating new opportunities for members to meet people and build a portfolio. It won't hurt anything to join in the end. Give it a shot. Apply to scholarships and look for events. You can't loose.

    The common interptetation of "snozzberry" is a pure retcon on the part of the word's inventor. "Snozzbery" as a word which has absolutely no appearence, either in print, or in any known verbal parlence, in any part of the world. Its very first appearence anywhere was in the 1964 book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. There is no evidence that its author had any more idea what a snozzberry was than any of his readers at the time. If any idea, even a vague one, could have existed in his mind, the etymology points us in the only possible direction for any "official" meaning, other than that subsequently concocted by its inventor for his later book: "sno-" implies something nasal, perhaps a hypothetical berry shaped like a nose (perhaps a dog's nose), which could have tasted like anything. The same etymology forms the basis of such words as snout, snooty (looks down one's nose at others), snot. But even more obvious that that, take away the "berry" part and see what you have left: If somebody gets punched in the shnozz, which part of them was hit? Indeed, if snozzberry was to be associated with any unglamorous bodily secretion, it would have tasted like boogers, not semen. "Dickheads" is pure retcon, invented years after the word "snozzberry."

    I read that snozzberries, was a reference in a later book, to penises. If so, Roald Dahl was a pedophile.

  • @masonicmoth
    @masonicmoth 11 місяців тому

    As someone not brushed up on Roald's other works, I'd say "snozzberries" is just a foreshadowing hint toward Wonka working with aliens (oompa loompas) and just another part of the showcase of his adventures in other worlds... maybe it alludes to Roald's dirty novel, or maybe it's just a funny sounding word that he likes to use. If I were to tie it to any genitalia, I'd say it hints toward a woman's because that's what you rub your schnoz (nose) on - nobody nuzzles a man's.

    Has anyone ever told you that you have narcissistic tendencies? This is by and far one of the most condescending videos I've seen in quite some time with a scholar at the helm. As the college graduate that you purport you are, I hope you appreciate the socratic method. I'd suggest you do a review on your script, the condescension comes through in tone, and if you value your membership in the NSCS, as well as your journalistic integrity it behooves you to take a serious look not only into your bias, but how you represent the NSCS as a whole in this video. For me, you set them back with this video. I'm a 4.0 student at Div 1 school in the midwest getting a second bachelors. Like you, I got an invite too. I've done the research and analyzed primary and secondary sources. I'm now more concerned about joining after watching this. I think that should concern you too. I hope you'll take my constructive criticism and reflect on it.

    • @JasperTheFilmie
      @JasperTheFilmie Рік тому

      First of all thank you for watching the video.. I do take what you say seriously. Which is why I’m going to dive deep into your feedback and take it for what it is. It’s obviously apparent you don’t care for the tone I used or the method I used in conveying my ideas. I will admit this video was one of my early attempts in mastering my communication skills on camera and creating content online. There are some lines of sarcasm and some idioms used in it I could’ve done without. All in all I don’t think , there’s nothing constructive about calling someone narcissistic or questioning their academic credentials. My tone seems to be your biggest concern… or turn off because it’s something you do not like. You mention my need to appreciate the Socratic method of conveying information. By definition the Socratic method is what I executed in this video on this topic. Even in spite of my method of delivery. By definition the Socratic method “is a series of questioning the object of which is to elicit a clear and consistent expression of something supposed to be implicitly known by all rational beings.” When one dives deeper into the Socratic method it was originally derived from the Greek philosopher, Socrates. In order to delve into his students’ view, he would ask them questions until any contradictions were exposed. Socrates also used this method of questioning to encourage people to question the things they were told and to look beyond the obvious. In this video I asked several questions to explore the topic. I provided information by going to different sources of information… which were all credible.. You yourself mentioned you checked sources, but you didn’t validate what you found. Which leads me to ask, outside of the information I presented did you find anything that corroborated with what I said or refuted what I said? Not liking my way of delivering is one thing. Nevertheless, at the end of the day facts are facts. Once again I’m not to prideful to admit that there are some areas of growth needed in this video. This was quite a while ago. Now the purpose of this video was not to influence you or encourage you to join the organization. I said that then in the video and I still stand on that now. Like I said I made this video to combat the misinformation about the organization. My hope for you as well as anybody else today (especially college graduates) with all of the misinformation and disinformation present the truth can still be found. Facts are facts even when questioned or challenged. If this video made you feel uncomfortable about the NSCS I’ll own my standpoint and apologize, but don’t let the way I talk stop you from finding the truth. Regardless of the way I communicate, think, or feel about the NSCS there’s a truth that exists out there bigger than you and I. As scholars we must value information. Best regards to you. Congratulations on your second bachelors.

    I believe the first time he uses the term is in a book(1941) where gremlins try to take over the world and the main food the gremlins eat are snozberries, described as small red and sweet... don't stop on what people get messed on, keep looking. This shows how humans jump to conclusions before having all this information. Just not as funny. Lots more misinformation to laugh about, mind the truth though.
