Kick ass man!! Just stumbled upon this, well done brother🎸🍻
Thanks for the nice words bro!!
Thank you for your process. I just did our show but I did it by using reaper to trigger each scene or chaser. I didn’t know about the show timeline for the songs. I guess the advantage my way is no latency however the downside is all the scenes have to be programmed by midi and way too many buttons for each song. I really appreciate your methodology and will have to experiment after our show.
Thanks for the feedback!!
This was very clear, thank you :) About your connections to your macbook: what is the purpose of the Showtec? How do you trigger midi changes in the Macbook coming from the Multitracker app on the iPad? Is there a Midi>USB interface connected?
Hi Jeffrey. Ok let me try to answer each point :) starting from the iPad. From the iPad we connect the usb-c cable to the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20, all back tracks, click and MIDI info come through this cable and, you can have a cheaper interface it just happened that we had this one lying around. Then from the Focusrite MIDI out to the MIDI input of the Roland Rubix 24 interface. This interface stays next to the light controlling laptop and I connect to a mac laptop with a usb b usb c cable. The interface is powered by the USB so no need for an extra power supply. So that is how the MIDI info reaches the laptop. Now it is used to trigger a track in QLC+, so one MIDI per song at the beginning of the song, that is all. Now QLC+ has to send DMX data to my light fixtures, how is that done? With the Showtec. You can use a usb -> DMX interface but I prefer the Showtec, why? The connection is done via Laptop -> Ethernet cable connected to the Showtec and Showtec DMX out. Because the PC is connected via ethernet, I don't need to care about device drivers that are specific for a usb/dmx interface, it is a standard TCP local network so it should work with mac, windows, linux easily. Hope it clarify your questions. Cheers
@@vidamedelafey Thank you!! Very clear :) I was missing the Midi IN-OUT part :)
