Переглядів 73414 років тому
This speaker communicated on the subject of political correctness of racism. He sited the case of a black woman who was convicted of racial harassment after calling an Asian colleague a coconut. This is a slur meaning they are betraying their roots by being brown on the outside and white inside. This matter has caused great debate in the UK by raising the question of whether the case should hav...

Death of the Chieftain, Welwyn Garden City, England
Переглядів 12 тис.16 років тому
The Chieftain was most (in)famous pub in Welwyn Garden City. This is the story of its demise and eventual loss to the town. 5.5.10. There's a notice on the fencing to say a new pub will be built on the site. It's to be called The Chieftain. 22.6.10. The support structure's in place and the artist's impressions are nailed to the surrounding wall. It's going to be a lot smaller than the original ...

This film explores what happens to a firework when it detonates. The eye misses a lot, the camera catches it all.

Mentos, Diet Coke and Murphy's law.

Our first attempt at the Mentos and Diet Coke thingy. Murphy's law says of all the places it had to come to earth, it chose the very spot we didn't want it to land.

Bottle bang
Переглядів 32718 років тому
My nephew decided to see how much air could be pumped into a plastic coke bottle. The original intention was for it to fly. I'm not sure why it's so fuzzy. It was taken on my cameraphone and after I powered off/on the phone, it began to behave.
We lived just around the corner at the time!!!
it was called the Woodman in the old days . i played in the darts team
Needed going was full of crack heads if you needed any drugs that was the place to go. Loads of fights was a real shit hole of a pub. It was a insurance job. Now the chieftains back and so much better really is.
I remember scoring grass here in 95 and being allowed to smoke a joint In the boozer. I was with me gf and a mate and his gf. Then some guy punched someone and this massive fight broke out and it ended up under my table while we were getting stoned. We just sat chilled nonchalant while apocalypse now was happening. Afterwards a guy came up apologized for the chaos and brought us all a drink. I thought my mate was gonna piss himself with fear. Brilliant evening. I spent a year in Welwyn garden city and it was incredible place to live. I wonder if it is just as mad?
Filmed on the Iphone IV Scotch egg
Omg! That looks like it could be one I built.
The Chieftain is still here what do you mean
I worked there in 1972 -73 and I really enjoyed being there as a living in bar man sometimes I'm sorry I ever came back to Liverpool , I have a lot of happy memories
I remember one customer called Alan Lynch he got a few halves of Draught Guiness free nearly every day saying it was in from the night before
Well it's a Mcmullen pub, so no loss there. I lived round the back in wheatley road throughout the 70s and 80s, amd remember the old boys staggering up the hill on Sunday afternoons. Occasionally falling in the hedge.
Ugh.. The auxiliary shields just killed it for me.. Very cool never the less
I think it's because they are readily available, fairly inexpensive and give that big American car sound.
cool but why a land rover engine???
It was also a licence copy of a Chevy engine
hey im from australia and i worked there back in 84 . loved it there...so sad to see it gone.
no great loss and we have a beautiful new pub now :) win win
There was no set number, although 20 was usually the maximum as any more would have made it difficult to keep the top (horizontal) shields all in line without gaps. There was no set number of Testudos, it depended on the situation and battle tactics. They were mostly used to get closer to an enemy position or building while deflecting the missiles (usually arrows) from above and front.
how many troops would normally be in a roman turtle formation? and how many per legion?
If you would believe it, a Chinese warlord managed to procure Roman mercenary legionnaires and it is noted in historical sources that they were in a "tortoise" formation assaulting cities during the Chinese civil war during the "three kingdoms" period.
who bun up dee place?
The building of the new Chieftain is well under way. It's a lot smaller and further over the the right. My main memory is driving past one Sunday morning and having to avoid a door in the road.
@viature54 Legion XIIII are very particular it's shown thsi way. It's the way it is on their website, so I just followed their instructions.
lol fail 14 is not XIIII it's XIV
It's just an ordinary type of rocket jammed into the ground.
No sad loss there. Now all they need to do is burn down the Peartree as well. The plcae was always full of trouble.
That's the start. The Cereal Partners (Shredded Wheat) site has been bought by Tesco and is due to be demolished. In fact, Tesco now own nearly all of Broadwater Road. They plan to make it into a leisure park.
From what I know, it can only be redeveloped into another pub. Planning permission for anything else has not been granted - yet.
that was a damm fine pub - what'll become of it now.. houses for refugees no doubt
ryanucr nope it’s a normal pub again I tell u
what kind of firework is that? like what brand i want it lol
Wow, so many sparks... Thats a lot of strontium (Likely nitrate) in that rocket :D
Now do you see why we legged it ASAP.
hahhaaa nice
