Thee Quaker Podcast brings stories of spiritual courage to your ears.
Quakers (aka the Religious Society of Friends) have always wrestled with big questions in their search for spiritual truth. Thee Quaker Podcast is a continuation of that 400-year-old tradition - we’re digging deep to search for innovative stories that explore themes of faith, conviction, and doubt.
George Fox, one of the founders of Quakerism, believed there was “that of God” in everyone, and a “great people to be gathered.” Whether you are a lifelong Quaker, seeking a spiritual home, or simply passing by out of curiosity we know you will find something that speaks to you in our podcast feed every week.
Trust us… for a group of people known for sitting quietly in worship, things can get kind of wild.

Very nice production! Almost all of the content could apply to many of the meetings in the unprogrammed tradition across the USA, so this video will be widely useful.
Looks cool, but only white people
Greetings from Edenderry Meeting in Ireland.
A mountain is typically defined as rising over 300 metres above the surrounding area. At about 395 metres, Pendle Hill is a mountain.
I don't see how someone could square being committed to Quaker testimonies with holding homophobic views about same-sex marriage. To reference a George Fox story, homophobia is a sword.
Thanks Jon & Friends, another well edited video. Keep up the good work. I am convinced that the internet is the equivalent of a 17th century Valiant Sixty - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valiant_Sixty - let's spread the good word about Friends, and Friendly processes!
Great video: alive, multi-faceted, not preachy. It shows an EXPERIENCE.
Very nice interviews, they flowed together nicely to create a whole picture of this Meeting. I disagree about the music, I think it's a nice background. Thanks for your important work, very excited to see how this unfolds. Suggest Richmond Friends Meeting as a great place to feature, a number of new young families and singles, very active committees and social justice work going on there.

A lot good in this, but it was really jarring for a community that roots its worship in silence to have this background music that sometimes even made it hard to hear what was being said. Seemed quite incongruent.
Sorry that you had trouble understanding the words with the background music, Bill! We would encourage you to turn on the closed captions! It's the CC button in the bottom right.
@@quakervideos Using the CC's only doubles the distraction.
second this...fine on transition but l couldn't think or appreciate and bailed...an accessibility issue. I am a lover of the series.
How wonderful to see friends and Friends. I have been in many meetings. Multinomah is one of the best.
I chose to portray George Fox in an All Saint's day celebration in a church where we would portray different saint's lives in skits..I was intriqued by him and still am! You did a great job here..
Beautiful podcast! Thank you.
Beautiful message! ❤️ Is there a place to listen to her sermons weekly?
There is a spirit which I feel that delights to do no evil, nor to revenge any wrong, but delights to endure all things, in hope to enjoy its own in the end. Its hope is to outlive all wrath and contention, and to weary out all exaltation and cruelty, or whatever is of a nature contrary to itself. It sees to the end of all temptations. As it bears no evil in itself, so it conceives none in thoughts to any other. If it be betrayed, it bears it, for its ground and spring is the tender mercies and forgiveness of G'd. Its crown is meekness, its life is everlasting love unfeigned; it takes its kingdom with entreaty and not with contention, and keeps it by lowliness of mind. In G'd alone it can rejoice, though none else regard it, or can own its life. It is conceived in sorrow, and brought forth without any to pity it, nor does it murmur at grief and oppression. It never rejoices but through sufferings; for with the world's joy it is murdered. I found it alone, being forsaken. I have fellowship therein with those who lived in dens and desolate places in the earth, who through death obtained this resurrection and eternal holy life. [James Nayler, 1660]

As one who has experienced this inner light, I am saddened when Jesus gets squeezed in between man and the Light. I suppose at the time he couldn’t also say, we don’t need a third when all is One
I am proud to say I am related to George Fox. George's mother, Mary Fox (nee Lago) was my 10th Great Aunt.
My biggest hurdle is that it’s not Christian centric….I believe in all the things quakers believe (theology and morally) but with it not being Christian centric and so political it’s hard for me to fully become Quaker.
Can you explain why political is hard for you? Is that because of Christianity somehow?
@@wkt2506 Well there has been some time since that comment, I am proud to say I have become Quaker. As far as the political stuff tho I have come to an understanding that I may not fully agree with everyone but it seems we all care about civil rights and the environment and I can get behind that.

Quakers wear all kinds of stuff. The same stuff everybody else wears. They don't talk differently anymore, and they don't really seem to hold to any particular beliefs anymore. It seems like Quakers basically just pander to whatever left-leaning cause is going on at any given time. I went to a Wiccan ceremony held at a Friends meeting House one time. Honestly I grew up here in PA & I have zero respect for Quakers at this point.
Didn't know about her. Thank you.

It appears to me that Quakerism is changing, but I'm not as well-versed in Quakerism as many others. I believe more in a relationship with God as opposed to being in a "religion".
