      @@Wanderer_prashant Hi.I would just check for the usual items: generally looks well kept, clean and free of oil leaks, engine and gearbox running smoothly, smooth clutch operation, all working electrics, no leaks on front and rear shocks, smooth shock action over bumps, check engine light off, no cam chain noise, triple whine is ok, brake master cylinders working smoothly, brake fluids fresh, steering head bearings running smoothly, put bike on double-stand and check for no wheel bearing play. Condition of tyres, brake pads. Ask for a record of servicing. The biggest issues I faced buying an older bike was leaky rear shock and slightly noisy cam chain tensioner on startup (must be quiet after 10s)-fixable by replacing tensioner and timing chain. Hi Lorne another question.....on reading the factory workshop manual......it shows a further adjustment to the installed cam chain tensioner.....the torque limiting adjustment. Its not covered in the haynes manual and the factory manual says it very important....set to 0.6nm...yes very low with a special torque wrench. Have you had any dealing with this adjustment after fitting the cam chain tensioner....access to the adjuster is via the hole in the front of the cam chain adjuster.

      @@michealmitton1514 Hi Michael. Does the starter solenoid just click when you turn the key? As far as I know only under the seat is an engine cut off switch that disables the engine if the blades are engaged (lever forward). The starter solenoid, when it fails can cause the same problem. Maybe check the cinnections in the battery compartment. I had to replace mine (solenoid/starter relay), with similar symptoms. It would be worth checking all the electrical connectors to the battery, starter relay and starter to make sure they are not loose.

    Hi Lorne......different engine I know.....but not much info on bikes with my motor online.....its a 2020 Triumph watercooled T100 900c twin. The tensioner looks the same idea as yours..... My bile has an odd noise on cold starts.....different from your description....only does it cold....and you don't hear it until about 20 to 30 seconds after a cold start.....then gradually you hear a metallic tapping noise....not heavy..... As the motor warms up....about 2 mins it gradually goes. Its quite common on my type of motor....effects the T120 as well....any ideas.....I am suspecting the tensioner. What was the problem with your tensioner.....did you strip it down to see? It seems it start to effect you if its going to right after the first 500ml oil change. Triumph just say ignore it.....but my mechanical mind is not happy with that. First heard at 500mls.....now covered over 8000mls....not got any worse. Love to hear your views. P.S. video should be on youtube after 1pm on the 15/10/24. ua-cam.com/video/P6BmU5asoKQ/v-deo.html Nick in the UK.

      Hi Nick. It is possible, especially if your bike has done a fair mileage (i.e. more than 50000Mi but unlikely at 8000Mi). However, a tapping noise sounds more like a tappet/valve sound. The timing chain noise mine made was more of a continuous light grinding noise for 10 seconds after startup...before the oil pressure built up sufficiently....it was like a chain lightly grazing the cylinder head, not tapping as such. Valve clearances do reduce as the engine warms up, and metal parts expand, so initially they would be noisier, especially if the shims need changing. Most loose valve clearance s sound to me like a metalic 'tinging' sound. I never took my timing chain tensioner apart, but suspect the spring had weakened over time and that the internal passageways might have been slightly clogged up. If possible upload a video of your engine making the noise and send me the link. Best.

      @@lornescott-wilson6144 Hi and thanks for getting back to me......I have checked the valve clearance....all exhaust were at max gap....inlets where fine....I re-shimmed to the book figure.....made zero difference....that surprised me. Lots of owners have this problem.....I call it a problem of course it maynot be....but with all of us owners who keep in touch....the common thing....with all of us the noise first showed its head at the first oil change.....most get that done around 500mls.....that very puzzling. A race bike mechanic near me had a listen with his stethoscope....said I dont know but is near the top end. Its usually gone within 2 mins and not heard again till next cold start. It stands out quite strongly....if I knew what it was and I knew it was harmless it would not bother me. I got the bike new.....Triumph UK have been no help at all.....telling me.....just ignore it Sir....thats the factory. I will see what I can do re posting a video.

At 7,500km my rear tire is starting to square up, it looks about like yours. The front looks fine. Thanks Lorne - my understanding of your cam chain issue is that you are supposed to brace the chain with a 'suitably' sized block of wood or a screwdriver handle at the chain guide runner in the crankcase whilst installing the tensioner to prevent the slackness you describe. The new tensioner will only take up the chain tension once it is supplied with oil under some pressure and the ratchet pops out, taking up the slack - regards, Rich

    • @650thumper
      @650thumper 2 місяці тому

      Yes, on my 800XC you have to wedge something against the guide to take up slack while you tighten down the holder. Then remove the wedge and turn the engine by hand while still pressing lightly against guide until you feel the tensioner release and do its job. See Muddy Sump's video doing the same job.

      Haven't found a solution to the clunky gear changes, other than using a higher weight engine oil perhaps. I use 10W-40 oil rather than 5W-40 oil. That probably quietens the gearbox more than a thin oil. You could try 15W-40 oil as well, unless you live in a very cold country. Best practice is probably not to rev the engine too highly in 1st and 2nd gear before changing gear. I dont rev more than about 3-4000rpm in the first two gears.

      God bless you Ulas. Simply trusting in Jesus' finished work on the cross is the essence of the Christian life. As believers we are legally justified in God's presence...declared to be 'not guilty' of our sins anymore. Repentance is a constant attitude towards God still, even a daily prayer... since Jesus put it into the Lord's prayer... "forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us". The relationship with God requires this...because we want to live in fellowship with God, daily. We don't have to manufacture daily 'grief' for our sins, to keep our salvation alive, because salvation is only a work of Jesus, finished upon the cross, but in order to maintain fellowship with our God and Father, we should repent often.

      Repentance requires God to grant it (Acts 11:18). The natural man can't manufacture it, but the Holy Spirit, who intercedes for us in Heaven works in our hearts to change our minds and hearts towards sin and God. 1 Corinthians 2:14 states: "The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit." The Holy Spirit gives us the required discernment...that we might be repentant..showing Godly sorrow for our sins from the heart.

      Good Internet quote on repentance: "Here’s one way to distinguish between worldly grief and godly grief: one mobilizes you into action and the other immobilizes you. Godly grief is a fruitful and effective emotion. We are not meant to wallow in this grief. It is supposed to spur us to action, to change, to make right our wrongs, to be zealous for good works, to run from sin and start walking in the opposite direction." @@travelinben1966 Just got a '16 FJR1300 (Gen III) in blue. I couldn't find one on a floor myself on the east coast but off of all the homework I have done over the years on this bike along with talking to fellow riders, they have all said the FJR is the 'Crème de la crème' of motorcycles. I can't stop smiling when I ride my FJR. Fair warning though, sport mode is no joke! EDIT: Also, the weight is no laughing matter, she's a beast in the weight department and takes some time getting used to. When on the move the weight is not noticed what's so ever, its only noticeable when having to move it around or back it in.

    Yes that's what I remind myself of that verse, nothing good comes out being angry towards people even if was their fault at something it can only cause more problems provoking things to escalate, best to keep cool only bad things come from being angry & God says anger is not liked by him.
