Hmmm I suspect temporary symbiotic parasitism, sonic gains the abilities while the wisps siphon some of Sonic's vitality which he has in abundance o.o

But what are they doing while inside his belly? They even sleep inside him when he doesn't use their power.

One option is they just siphon a bit while waiting, just enough to have enough energy to stay alert and ready for use.... A more weird and freaky option is that they slowly started to integrate into sonic bit by bit, small miniscule amounts that can't be detected since they integrate too fast. After and while being absorbed, the wisps are giving off waves that aren't detectable unless specifically looked for, these waves changed both sonic and tails into the personas they ended up taking and using in colours and beyond that. Once infected, the hosts don't even think to check, and it's contagious, leading the other friends to become dumbed down and more obnoxious compared to their past selves as well o.o

Ok. But they are doing more than just that.

XD I generally play games mainly for their plot, so generations didn't really appeal to me until shadow got tagged on.

I'm actually sort of neutral, I loved the animated fight, and the actual fight was kinda bland compared to what I was expecting.

Huh, I had to go back to the vid to recheck. It never even registered to me that the music was creepy. But now that I'm actually looking into it, yeah, it is creepy. XD omg not I'll never be able to think otherwise

Oh God, replaying CD was next on my list after finishing 06. With all the sonic I've been doing recently I've already had a weird dream of Eggman getting access to my credit card info which was mildly horrifying, now I could have a creepy dream instead. YIKES

I'll do that for the new experience then, though I hope the eerie laugh is still there. I've always liked that bit because it IS a dark game. Especially my head cannon of metal sonic being sent from an alternative future, one where Eggman robotized him
