Norbeck no. 3 trail provides a unique quiet picturesque hike to Black Elk Peak Harney lookout. Elevation gain will be approximately 3292 ft to top out at 7285 ft above sea level. Depending on how much you explore the lookout and peak, you are looking at about 9.3 miles round trip.

Labor Day weekend 2023. Lost cabin trail from Willow Creek horse camp to Sylvan Lake and back. 13.7 miles. French Creek trail. 4.5 miles out and back. Lovers Leap loop. 4.2 miles. Iron Mountain trail. 3.8 miles out and back. Lost Trails loop. 2.3 miles. The “elfs house” tree stump is from the Badger Hole nature loop. The two deer at the end are from the Mickleson trail near Hill City.

Last camping/hiking trip of 2023. From Peaceful Valley Ranch, CCC trail to Jones Creek trail, to Lower Talkington trail, to Lower Paddock Creek trail, back to Peaceful Valley Ranch. Approximately 11.5 miles. A windy Saturday and a foggy Sunday.
