The Fosters Freeze is still there on Eagle Rock Boulevard. The Bob’s Bigboy was the one in Highland Park on York Boulevard it became a Carrows for many years and now is a Denny’s.

America was so much fun during this time frame. Going to Van Nuys High School and Bob's Big Boy on Van Nuys Boulevard. No cell phones? No problem. Completely different type of lifestyle than we have now. Much better.

I like how most of those structures are Art Deco in design. I hope they still stand! Having never been there I’m not sure but I would take a tour of just those types buildings as they are my favorite. Upkeep and maintenance is tough in an earthquake prone environment but if you have the time and money it can be done-I hope. Thanks for such a nice video!

I remember many of these places, the real estate market was booming in Los Angeles from about 1975- early 1980's, after the late 1973 to early 1975 recession. Land became too valuable, and investors tore down these old places, what a time capsule!

Whenever they give a name or an address I look it up in google maps. Fosters Freeze is still there but they have bars on the windows. Pepperdine university is now a church of scientolgy. Tom's auto body is La La's Argentine grill, the big coke bottle is still there but th building is not as cool looking. Sampson Auto is a auto glass place with the same old car on the roof. Felix is still there. Chucks billards is a cleaners. I like the fact that some of these old buildings may have changed names but still have the same tile roof and art deco style. Keep these old photos from the 70's and the 60's coming. My first visit to Ca. was in 76 when I drove across country from Maryland. My favorite vacation. I stayed 10 days.

Seeing the pictures and dates you couldn't tell the U.S was at war. In 1942 it was dark times for the U.S. In the Pacific with Japan on a rampage, the U Boat war in the Atlantic and Hitlers war in Europe. I thank God I'm an American and the for sacrifices made by the greatest generation. This shows how Americans had strength and optimism during the war.
