Thank you :)
Was searching around to see if it was feasible to use my RX100 VII as a third "safety" camera for a wedding I'm hybrid shooting next month and now I'm wondering if I shouldn't utilize it a bit more, lol. Great job.
I know what you mean, my main cameras are 5D's You know what they say, the best camera in the world is the one you have with you, and that's all I had in Bali :) I think the RX100 (series) is a beautiful camera, but I don't own one anymore :(
Do you know if this was shot in the program mode?
Hi Bill, no, this was all shot in manual mode, mostly just varying iso
Nice
Thank you Clone ren
Do more stop motion
Do you still use / recommend this setup?
Hi Justin, soon after I shot this test footage I decided to invest in a motorised gimbal and I bought the Beholder DS1. Once setup, it's much easier to use than the S60 also providing more control and options. There's many more on the market these days to choose from. However, the S60 does have something unique about it just keep in mind it's a bit of an art just to setup. If you're on a budget it's well worth it.
I see, thanks for the reply. Seems like the current top model is the zhiyun crane 2
The 5D3 has that cheap camcorder look. XC10 is way better IMO. More cinematic look to it.
I would have thought the other way around because the 5D3 has the bigger sensor but interesting to hear your opinion, thanks.
Don't think video looks better only "because" a camera has a bigger sensor. Use your eyes to look at video
You're absolutely correct.
This should have been a side by side comparison with the same shot, scene and lighting. What you did was two different shoots, and that's not a comparison.
You are right Tree. Unfortunately I only had the XC10 for a short period of time and it's the only footage I had which was shot in the same environment, within the hour.
Wow, im impressed. It looks Amazing. I have a RX100 IV, and i was considering using it as a Bcamera for a wedding im about to shoot. Can you name any downside to using this camera for such a huge event? Regarding batteries, etc
Hi Erik, you may have noticed that I wasn't the offical videographer on the night but that was probably a good thing. It took the pressure off and the camera being so small and nimble allowed me to do things real quick. Battery is certainly an issue but that depends on how you use it. Even as a Bcamera, if you wanted to have it run for 30min, it will certainly become an issue, however if you used it for short 'cut aways' or such, it would work perfectly. I think your RX100 IV also has a huge advantage over my MkII in the small aperture range. I could have done with the 1.8-2.8 that your camera has (if you need the light). Some people complain that it doesn't have the zoom but I would take the large aperture any day. Funny thing is that James (the groom) is my nephew and I bought him and Milena the Sony RX100 II as his wedding present. When I got to see the camera, I bought myself one and so had his spare battery on the night (which came in very handy). It was such a great night and I'm so happy that they allowed me to share it with the world.
Since it can be charged via USB, if you have a portable USB power bank you can use that to get extra battery on the go :)
***** Depends on the battery bank. If it's 2.1 amps, it will charge and run at the same time. Any less and it just seems to run without charging. Note when you plug it into power it does restart automatically. When filming static shots in door with my RX100, I can plug it into a USB wall charger for infite power :)
I have the same camera, and I was wondering if you're using a intervalometer shooting a time lapse does the camera automatically format it as a video or do you have to stitch the photos together?
+Max D'Amico Hi Max, from memory I used the Canon EOS utility software, the camera was connected directly to the computer. Afterwards I used all the images (and video) and put it all together via Apple's Aperture - alas, Apple have decided to abandon us loyal followers and discontinue a great piece of software! Rrrrrrr!
nice video, i use this camera also, bcs is small and light, wanna ask you, what kind of lens do you use? or did you use for this time laps? thanks so much
+Michael Rada (GLORY STORY) Hi Michael, I used the kit lens Canon EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM. It's not a bad lens for what it is, especially for video. Interesting to see what the MII will bring (hopefully a flip screen!)
awesome stuff dn
rashmedo Thank you, that's very kind.
Great sound, need a bigger crowd!
Can you show us how you did the video technique above??
do the d100 have timelaps mode?
Hi there Carlo, it has a 'video' time lapse mode but not a 'stills' time lapse mode. Most the video above is using 'stills' time lapse using an attached laptop and the Canon software that came with the camera. However, some of the video above (e.g. 0.25-0.38) is using the 'video' time lapse built into the camera. Hope that helps.
Milkyway Multimedia Hello, could you tell how do you set video "time lapse" mode on the camera? thank you very much
Cyclo Lenti Hi Cyclo. To set 'video' time lapse on the 100D do the following: Press the 'Q' button; press the up and down arrows to get to 'miniature effect movie;' select the playback speed. I don't think you can shoot 'video' time lapse without the 'miniature effect.' Note, in the movie above I used this technique together with traditional 'time lapse' (taking photos an intervals. Hope this helps.
Milkyway Multimedia If i make time lapse video not everything is focused. Do you now how i can change that?
Goitzen van der veen If you use time lapse built into the 100D, it only does 'miniature effect movie' which does the out of focus effect. I'm not sure why Canon didn't give us an alternative option?
a super nice time lapse video! thumbs up, I'm also fan of timelapse, Create it but mostly with a gopro
Thanks ToJo, yeah I use the GoPro too - there's a bit of GoPro in this clip although it's video, not time lapse.
What lenses did you used?
I'm at the start
Nice I'm Blake brownlie
