EXCELLENT doco', thank you. I just think that Joy Division & New Order (particularly) warranted their own little bit of space, over just the mention of Factory Records
Jayne introducing lucky man by the verve WAS the 90s!
I was a bit of a teenage snob in 1993. Watching this now I just want to protect 2 Unlimited with all costs!
Talk Talk
You can’t make money in clubs anymore what with all licensing tax and smoking ban. It’s finished for skint young people like we were.
Anyone else notice Neil Tennant sitting in the Smash Hits offices at 10:30?
Amazing music and times.
The story of shalimar is so great !! All the members legends on their own!! Love em ..
Gen z kids will never know what the 80s and 90s was like.
‘70’s - 50’s - 60’s - 80’s and the rest far behind - this is only for rock ‘n roll - if you add jazz, country and folk 50’s - 60’s - 70’s and the rest far behind.
80s music is an echo of a future we never got
diamond head :)
⚡️💙🤘
Compared to the 70s, the 80s sucked! I’m someone who grew up in the 80s and 90s.
It just drives me nuts having to listen to deep purples low opinions of metal they may not like it but metal is the most important rock genre in 50 years every generation in the last 5 decades had a extremely popular metal band nothing in rock is more important then metal except maybe rock itself metal music changed the way you play the guitar and the way songs are put together totally evolved rock in a musical way with skill and musicianship using classical and jazz and turning the greatest composition of the past into metal rock songs there is no other genre of rock music that had the longevity and evolution of rock music not punk not grunge nothing changed how you play rock music like metal and hearing people talk about it like it's a bunch unskilled hoodlums that play the music when the truth is a metal musician is ether a master are trying to be a master there craft are instruments it's really the only popular genre of music that you need to be skilled and the only popular music that virtuoso is valued and admired you would think a band like deep purple would value those things obviously they do not I really hate seeing them in metal documentaries
Their ancestors, who fought and died in World Wars...I'm sure they were super proud.
One day, this will be classroom matter ....i hope.
Shane is honestly the worst. Vic should’ve taken him out when he had the chance
2 UNTALENTED!!!
What a load of bollocks, like the females tore ‘gender sterotypes’ apart, not relevant or significant. Typical bbc bullshit.
To Hear These Famous British Heavy Metal Artists Talk About The " Pittsburgh of Middle England " and The Lifestyle They Had To Conform To The British Steel Industry There Is No Wonder Why The New Wave of British Heavy Metal ( NWOBHM ) Became The Most Beloved and Revered Genre of Heavy Metal Music Ever.
Why does Mr Blaxill remind me of the angry kid cartoons? 😂

The British. In one breath "Mustn't grumble" but in the next they, we, do nothing but.
The 80s is the greatest music decade ever. It birth so many stars, everybody caught licks with classic songs, albums & performances. Also whether good or bad the influences surrounding the era help edify the music to great heights. Only the 70s & 90s have a stake in the convo but to me it's undisputedly the 80s
Is there any who could tell me de band and the song of the punk band at 1:07:44 ???
do more with less
now the kids need to go to uni before thinking about a lyric..
The story of this record label is just phenomenal and the part of this video regarding The Smiths was just beyond me. Extraordinary.
Loved sleeper
I was 16 in 95 good memories
Good documentary but some glaring omissions from the electronic bands of the early 80's.
Damn this is basically a lost episode never seen it before thanks
Top of the pops, every year the same people, the same songs...lol
Idiots! Debils! Propaganda! 80's was the last and the best only one legendary decade!!
9:07 You can tell a guy can't wait to get his latest experimental booster.
I don't need any convincing. I was there. ❤️
36:41 Damn, that looks weird seeing Tony Iommi playing standard right hand guitar.
FOREVER! 🤘🤘
Man look at all those now vintage synths and drum machines, and I remember getting a red Sony Walkman with the Ghostbuster soundtrack for my birthday and man the kids were all jealous! Good times. The 80s were just the best and I'm glad I got to live it...
I've watched this video more than a dozen times and i just realized David Hepworth was the same David from Old Grey Whistle Test

I'm always tuned of TOP OF THE POPS when I was a kid. For new music & new artists. 😎
12:20 Sound Of The Crowd is still one of the best tunes. It astounds me that he don't understand why people bought it. I feel proud that my 9 year old self lost my shiz first time I heard this.
Louise is completely unaware of just how twee Sleeper were. 😂
Worth mentioning that a huge factor in Gabrielle's success was the fact she was clever enough to have a strong presence on the dancefloor with awesome remixes.
Put simply, Blur/Albarn have branches. Oasis are just a stump. 😊
NWOBHM slaughtered punk imo....punk may have started rough but it turned into new romantic new wave ... terrible
That's amazing. I always thought that the moon walk was Jackson's 'invention'.
The move had already been around for decades when he did it. He just made millions aware of it. See the wiki page for moonwalk dance for more history of it.
I love the 80's
