Tribute sled to Jack's Custom Shop in Howell Michigan where my interest in Rupps and all hot rods started. Jack Layton worked with my Dad Tom Kuchnicki at GM proving grounds in Milford, MI

I had a 71 SS 433 & a SL 292 .. sadly sold both .. they were great fun sleds
Beautiful! I had one back in the late ‘80s … unfortunately I sold it because it was too loud for where we rode .. so sorry I sold it I loved that thing
Two tons of fun. Even Sasquatch couldn't lift this.
I miss my SS433 .. should have never gotten rid of it 🤦🏻I also had a SL292
How can megaphone exhaust possible help performance of a 2 stroke? I would think tuned pipes would have made more power. but then again I was an AMF rider back in the day and followed the USSA Sno Pro series on weekends to see if AMF won any races...Ha not many. One here, one there mostly in the stock classes. Hirth was never big in the performance category. Reliable...OK. Fast...hmmm not so much
Hey uh I was wondering if you’d know where to find a tack for the Yamaha ss433?
Hi I remember my dad's 1971 phantom snowmobile but I also remember him telling me to put my hand over this blower thing sticking out of the front by the gauge I was looking at some footage on here but didn't see anything like that do you think this was modify by my dad or is there a model out there like this please let me know because I never knew what this stupid thing was and why I had to cover it
I like the pipes on the Rupps. I have a '73 Nitro 440 that has the suitcase exhaust. I want to put pipes on it. What pipes did you use for the Rupp?
Nice for sharing.
Such a familiar sound. Our family had one my mother drove. Never had one issue with it. Darn thing was even electric start! Brings back fond memories of heading out super early on a Sunday morning, and arriving back home after many miles put on. Thank you so much for posting this.
Seems like Mercury made good quality machines .....? ...
makes me sad, I had an SL338 B and I left home and left it outside to rot, eventually I sold it, I hope the Guy who got it fixed it up.
Had a 1971 GP396 when I was a kid. Lots of fun. Looked identical.
Beautiful! Are you interested in selling it? I restored my grandpas 71 GP396, my Dad had a SS433 when he was a kid
My father have buy ss in 1973 from pilote racer chicoutimi and its my first initiation on snomobile . good video i show this to my father
La machine a mon Pere en 1973 combien de hp ? Acheter au courseur de chez Greif Motor sport Chicoutimi
I read in your e mail that you were looking for parts for these machines. I have a phone number 717-701-5142 This person is in fairbanks alaska. He may have all the parts that you need to complete your machines.
Man she sounds beautiful! Great job!
You have the exact same boat as me...first on I ever saw. Same brown striped upholstery a teak. The only diff I can see is you have an aft cleat and mine has a tow ring setup. Just repowered mine this summer with 350s .30over running Comp Cam Extreme Marines. Have a question, what size props you run and what rpm range are you getting?
These are amazing machines, for I had three of these machines 250ers and 220 the engines are bullet prof. I ran over a 50 mile trap line in the early 70s . A word warning do not touch the electrical wiring when it is running its called a thunderbolt system 40,000 volts to each plug . As the salesman said it will wind your watch , my brother did not pay attention it took two days for him to talk right . I ran these machines for over seven years here in alaska and never had to even change one sparkplug .
I have recently obtained two of these machines. Just have to find some new wheels and tracks. Good to hear that they run very reliably. Wiring on both of mine has disintegrated so I definitely won’t be touching any of it. Thanks for your information.
Anyone have anymore pictures or videos of this boat?
I believe I own this boat now.
That thing sounds and looks amazing. Wish I owned her!
Wow! That's a very mean sounding 44 Sprint!!!
I had a 1973 . Same color. Great bike.
Nice vintage Merc.
What do they cruise at ... 20-30 mph ?
Wondering same thing
Hey nice sled, but that's a 32 horse johnson ra Rampage
Pretty sure that's a 399cc 21 horse challenger. Not allot of them made. I own 3 of them with the single headlight in the middle with the vents on the side. The 32 Rampage is faster than that. I've been clocked at 42 mph on my Rampage.
This is one of my favorite vintage models and year. Do you have any more videos of it?
Very nice! Oil injection back then was a great feature. We take it for granted now but i hated mixing stroke in a jerry can for my Ski Doo's. While my buddy on his yami's had oil injection.
I'm only able to get 8000 max 10000 rpm is on herd of your belt may be sliping
polaris indy , it's been highly modified for oval racing
Great sled. We still have 1 left that my dad bought new sitting in barn. Need a new seat cover and winshield if anyone has one.
This sled still for sale
Thank You for posting this my late father had one of these and the sound of hearing in run brought back many memories. Can't thank you enough listened to it over and over and thought of dad.
The tank looks clean, let's see the rest of the bike. I had an original, 1969 RT1, black tank with red pin striping. That's one that I should not have sold. :(
Is the machine still for sale?
The knotches in you clutch to guide you hammers are worn
I would say you have a keen grasp of the obvious. Did they rattle any less when new? Maybe a little...
Nice! Did you add a muffler to your Sea Skiff?
not running lean guys it runs perfect by the sound to me
EEEEK!
I bought this boat! Great first boat
Steve Harrington do you still have this boat?
Change the spark plugs.
im only getting 5000 rpms out of mine any advice?
To grippy or two small of a belt i would guess
Although im assuming in 8 years this has been addressed/replaced
I have a sm 793 tripple with 37 miles on it (needs resto) that Ill let go for 5000$ . I have seen the small 760 go for 9000$ restored so mine can get about 11-12 large
I been to this race awesome race to be at
I feel your pain. No snow in MN either.
Greetings from Michigan City Indiana! Where we have more snow than you do! Geoff
@mentallyill345 It has 2 cylinders from a 732 triple grafted onto a 2 cylinder case. Sponsored by Devcon Epoxy...
@YouraN1993R It's been run every year since 1992. Not a trail sled. It was built for racing ovals. Just used for fun now. Only thing that broke so far was a coil on the stator came loose and took out the flywheel.
Your fuckin crazy to run 10,000 RPM. That things gonna blow
