yea ha ha.......... 2 things........ this should be done by Tacom 1/72 much more awesome on huge scale...........how do you display it with turret roof on......... unless roof is transparent plastic ......... you'll have to glue two tiny rods on either side of breach because you can't drill through metal

Wow, those brass plates on the Border kit look very wavy. Is the brass really thin? From what you've shown us, Border is really showing us some big inconsistencies in the detail. It doesn't have quite the same level of 'pizazz' on the rear deck as the other 2, which is kind of disappointing. This is one area that has a lot of eye traffic and, in it's current state, really could benefit from just a few more PE parts - namely the glide rails for the planes and support beams instead of plastic. The catapult actually looks decent even in its plastic form. Mind you, all 3 seem to have some issues around that life boat rack area, so I can't pick on Border too much. Quietly, I've been quietly rooting for Border. They appear from no where to offer us a new tooled Yamato that has great, accurate details at an affordable cost but as we're now seeing, these small items like misaligned panels and gaps where there shouldn't be are leaving me feeling a tad let down. At this stage, I think I'd rather deal with the excessive PE from Very Fire but I'm still holding onto some hope that this is really the worst of it and things can only get better. Thanks for the update mate

Bringing in Tamiya Yamato is honestly quite unfair, considering the kit is almost 14 years old, whereas the other two are 2024 products. That’s like comparing Vee Hobby 2024 USS Cleveland to 1959 Lindberg Cleveland

Hi, (new subscriber from Nigel modeling bench). I built the old mold Tamiya, it was actually a good kit, the only thing that was missing were the hull plates and it was a relatively easy fix. I don't understand what they did on their new mold, it's non-sense. I like traditional 2 parts hull or 3 but cut at the flotation line (ideally). 👋🏻

For us mere mortals one of these models would be a year of major effort so you do 3 at once ... What type of glue did you use for the large photo etched part on the flight deck? A slow dry CA glue?

Would in your opinion, annealing the photo etch assist in the bending process. I have the Boarder Models Yamato on order, so eventually I will have to fabricate the crane myself. Many thanks for this series, very helpful!
