For about a month (May-ish) in the Spring, the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) opens the McKenzie Pass highway in Central Oregon to bicycles only. We rode the pass from the Sisters, OR side all the way over to Hwy 126 and then back to Sisters. I'm flying in Dec 30 2019, to start a two month solo bike tour of all 7 islands. Does anyone have a backyard that I could camp/tent in for one or two nights?
Sorry, just moved to a house with a zero lot line. Chad at Hawaii Bicycle League Travis at Bikeadelic rentals (both in Honolulu) might be able to help Good luck!! BTW, be sure to ride the Big Island CCW. I've done it 3 times and that is the better way due to the winds...

Not sure where he got his. I just Googled "Oregon Ducks Cycling Jersey" and there are plenty available on-line. Hope this helps!

Can't believe there's no comments here. Great video documenting your trip! Tried to do a west side loop but discovered no safe route down the center of the island, bummer. Great crew.
Thanks, Burger! I'm smarter at generating views now than I was back then. I think this should help snare more comments. I just posted a video on a recent group ride on the east side - the first post in a long time. Check it out! Yeah, no really 'safe' route through the center of the island. Kunia Rd is about the only choice. Then thru Waihawa then Haliewa and on to the North Shore and back around on the east side. Happy to show you around if back on Oahu sometime! Thanks again!

Thanks! With stopping and playing around at the summit and a brief rest stop at the turn around on the other side, 4 hours 30 min. 75 miles and a little over 6000' according to Strava.
