    Loved the water system, it's super clever. Will try to implement it at my farm. Thank you!

    Can you run the wire continuous around the corner or do you need to tie off in each direction?

    • @farmtough
      @farmtough 19 днів тому

      Its better to tie off, unless you are doing a very short fence. It never pulls evenly around a corner so its hard to get tight.

    What spacing would you suggest for a perimeter fence?

    • @farmtough
      @farmtough 2 місяці тому

      Depends what you are trying to do. That fence was 14' spacing by main road and 16' everywhere else. Just cows in a low traffic area and flat ground, you could easily go to 30'+

    Nice build. I’ve been collecting old cotton trailers for sheep shade. Working out some design ideas. I’m wondering how the shade cloth is holding up in wind?

    • @farmtough
      @farmtough 2 місяці тому

      Usually the shade cloths do pretty good, the eyelets tear out of the corners eventually but you can just ball it up and tie it tight with a string.

    Why isn't the mom letting the little white baby goat nurse? Every time it walked up to her to nurse, she would walk away and not let baby close enough to get latched onto a teat to feed. Why?

    • @farmtough
      @farmtough 3 місяці тому

      A good ewe won't let her lambs over eat. They will also discourage eating when they are nervous and want to be able to run. She didn't like that I was that close to her

    • @cathyhendrix7552
      @cathyhendrix7552 3 місяці тому

      @farmtough Aaaaahhhhhh. I see. I just wondered because the other 2 were nursing and she let them nurse until the other one came up to nurse and she shook them off and moved away so it couldn't nurse. So I just thought she was rejecting it for some odd reason. 🤔 But I'm not a goat farmer. LOL 😆. Thank you very much for answering my question.

    good comparison, thanks for sharing. We went through the learning cycle with cheap posts. Get the NZ made stuff, it is worth the few extra dollars. I filled up a big garbage bin with broken and bent knock offs available from local big box farm supply store. In fact, all of there electric fencing supplies were mostly junk (chargers and anything made of plastic especially) and have been replaced.

    • @406regen

      Kencove sells them

    • @farmtough
      @farmtough 4 місяці тому

      Kencove only sells the parts, you have to assemble. No big deal unless you have never had kiwitech posts before and don't know what you need. I'm lucky, we have another farm near us that is a dealer.

    I use old bed frames all the time. They are harder steel, so heat them with a torch where your gonna weld and let them cool down. Then weld and you won't have any problems. Keep up the good work buddy 👍

      We give them Fertrell cattle choice, and salt from a mine here in Kansas. Used to feed kelp too, but we weren't able to get much this year.

    • @farmtough
      @farmtough 7 місяців тому

      We take breaks from the fertrell every couple months because it has copper in it and sheep are really slow and getting rid of excess copper. They can get copper poisoning if they have to much.
