Carving A Castle | Butternut Challenge
I carved a castle! Out of pine? What happened to the butternut? Well, when you're sitting around the table at Jimmy DiResta's house after Makers Camp, you never know what will happen. This time a challenge was issued by Xyla of Beauty and the Bolt. She would send us all a chunk of butternut wood for us to carve. The catch? No ducks! The former woodcarver who was offloading his shed full of wood to her said he had carved his last duck and there would be No! More! Ducks! With the usual amount of cheerful resistance, we accepted the challenge and here we are today. The twist for me? My chunk of wood ended up being white pine. Oops! So, I still haven't ever carved butternut. Oh well. At least I got to make a castle! Make sure you check out the other challengers! And see if anyone defied the rules and made a duck!

Making a Last-Minute Wire Christmas Tree
Переглядів 9 тис.5 років тому
It's that time of year so I figured I would make a last-minute tree out of wire. It's not enormous because that wouldn't be last-minute. That would be ridiculous. Maybe next year. It works for Christmas or winter or whatever you want a decorative wire tree for. Happy Holidays if that is your kind of thing, and if it isn't, have a fabulous day! #ChristmasTree #DIY If you like this video, please ...
Making a Fizzgig Puppet | From The Dark Crystal
Переглядів 10 тис.5 років тому
Another world. Another time. In the Age of Hot Glue. I made a Fizzgig puppet inspired by the Jim Henson movie The Dark Crystal! Or maybe it's just a relation of Fizzgig. I don't think the roar is quite right. Watch me argue with aluminum foil and fight with faux fur in an epic battle to create a fuzzball with a ton of teeth! If you like this video, please click the Like button. Then I'll know y...
Making Another Bag | Learn Sewing Basics

I want to make a spacesuit! But I have to learn how to use a sewing machine first. Darn it. So, I make some bags so I can learn. And who can't use some tote bags? They're so useful for toting things. Follow along to see how I did. And follow @CraftsWithEllen (UA-cam link below) if you want to watch someone who actually knows how to sew. Huge thanks to Karoline Hinz for hosting the Spacesuit Cha...
Making A No-Sew Bag | That You Can Cover With Patches and Pins and Buttons and Stuff

Yeah that's right. No sewing. Just a whole lot of glue. Well, and fabric. And some braided leather. And rivets. And before you ask, I've been using this bag for nearly a year and it's holding up just fine. Here are all of the awesome makers who are already included on the bag or are going to be (or are going to end up somewhere else because I don't have enough room) and there are more people I ...
Don't Make This Box | Making a Wood and Metal Swirly Box
Переглядів 5265 років тому
Trust me you don't want to make this wood and metal swirly box. Sure it looks all nice and swoopy, but those lovely swirls hide the bitter, finger-mangling truth. There's a good reason people do this with nice, thin, pliable tin or copper or aluminum foils instead of heavy aluminum flashing. So don't say I didn't warn you! Making a Leather Tool Holder Thingy
