Why can't he hold the camera steady ? if he's trying something different but it's hard to see the detail he's trying to show.
I wonder if he has seen the painter Michael Kvium's work. I find their work invoke the same feelings of uncomfortable beauty in me. Whether or not Matthew knows of Kvium, his work is still amazing.
No doubt about it, his dioramas are excellent, but then consider the scale he's doing it in. Like 1/16th? Let's see some cigarette butts/store fronts in 1/35th scale like I've seen others do AND with the same quality/eye for detail.
There are so many talented miniaturists! We are just lucky Randy lives close to Pasadena where our gallery is located at^^ And we would love to invite other miniaturists to show with us! It would be our honor!
Google & check Pininterest using miniatures, dioramas, etc. for your search. There's one guy(?) who's been doing either NYC or Chicago in what I think is 1/35th scale on Google. Two buildings together, 1 a McDonalds, the other a XXX rated place. Another is a diner next to a closed building, another is a subway entrance that's about 1 1/2 times the size of a quarter. Same with a convenience store in another diorama.ALL of this stuff is beyond my skill level, but after 15 years getting back into modeling, but going for 1/35th scale zombie/apocalypse dioramas and get my enthusiasm from Randy and others on UA-cam, Google and Pininterest.
