    Sorry I didn't watch the whole video but the #1 rule (speaking as a low expert myself) is simple: always make a "dual purpose' move, one that attacks two points, or attacks and defends, or does two things at once. That's it! :)

    Couldn't black still win if instead of King e3 they played King c2? Then King f2 would be the only legal move for white, leading to the Black King moving onto the d file protecting the pawn for promotion. Edit: I was tired and didn't see King takes on e3, my apologies.

      what? where did you hear that

    • @KodyEFT
      @KodyEFT Місяць тому

      You’re thinking of a bishop. Some say 3 or slightly more, other say it’s 3.5. Either way, a knight and a bishop together are more valuable than a rook. Learning to properly use a knight can, in certain situations, be of more use than a bishop. A beginner way of looking at them is a bishop can pin and pressure, and a knight can fork. Checking with a knight, the only options are to take it or move your king since you can’t “block” it.

      Nah he's right, based on 10 points system. The 10 point system is one rule stating that you need at least 10 points of material to checkmate, and since minimal material requirement for checkmate is bishop, knight, and king, that adds to 9.5, but with relative value bishop becomes 3.5. same with rook and king, the rook becomes 6.5 points while the King stays 3.5. It's really rocky, this rule

    • @CoachChessChuck

      Please check out my video on checkmate techniques. ua-cam.com/video/6JunOaivmdI/v-deo.html You will see that Paul Morphy gave up most of his pieces to checkmate the King. He would not have won the game if he would have given up all his pieces to win a Queen! Thus the King has an infinite value!
