Santa Cruz Skateboards - Henry Gartland Pro Model setup and skate clips
Переглядів 9873 роки тому
This video is partly board setup, partly appreciating 500 subscribers and fully honoring Henry Gartland. I mostly do setup videos of wide boards, but I’m trying to get my flatground skating moving again. That’s why I got myself a narrower board (narrow for me) and once I saw it I knew it had to be the late Henry Gartland’s pro model from Santa Cruz. Henry was an unbelievable skater and even tho...
Heroin skateboards - Dead Dave ”Giallo” setup and review

After riding 3 ”regular” decks, I wanted to ride a big and shaped board again. Finally Heroin skateboards was available in local skate shops here in Finland, so I got myself the Dead Dave ”Giallo” deck. Setup: Deck: Heroin Skateboards - Dead Dave ”Giallo” 9.75” 31.3” long, WB options 14.3” & 15” Nose 5.5”, Tail 6.7” Trucks: ACE AF1 66 (9” axle) Wheels: OJ Elite Hardline 56mm, 101a durometer, Er...

Summer time, big boards & the only thing missing are some fresh big trucks. In this video I set up and review the new ACE AF1 trucks in the size 66 (9” axle). This time I setup and review the 8.6” Nora V pro model from Welcome skateboards. I also talk briefly about the pair of Cariuma skateshoes I started using a couple of weeks ago, because I’m really hyped on the company and their products. Here is the setup: Deck: Welcome Skateboards - Nora Vasconcellos ”Wicked teddy” Trucks: Independent 149 forged hollow Wheels: Spitfire Formula Four Classics 54m...
8.5” Shorty’s Skateboards Setup Chad Muska “silhouette”
Переглядів 1,7 тис.3 роки тому
Winter is finally gone and it was time to set up a freshie (with slightly used trucks) for skating outside again. After having skated indoors mostly in the past months and on wider / shaped boards (10” and 9”) I felt like I needed to setup a pallet-cleanser. For me that’s a standard popsicle 8,5” with medium concave and not too steep kicks. This could not have happened at a better time - Shorty...
Building a complete skateboard for FREE
Переглядів 3983 роки тому
My colleague asked me if I had any old skateboards laying around for his soon to be 6 y/o boy. Unfortunately this time I had no old or used skate parts, so I made it my task to build a complete for the boy for FREE. I reached out to my local skate community and skate shops and the response was outstanding. Within one day I received more than enough parts to build a board, for the total cost of ...
Upcycling a folding chair with old skateboards
Переглядів 5693 роки тому
Quarantine, boredom, bla bla ... you know the drill. Got some IKEA folding chairs for cheap and thought they looked depressing. Cut up two Santa Cruz decks (Winkowsky ”bird cage” and Dressen ”rose cross”), mounted them to the chairs and improved the looks by 1000%. And yes, the balcony windows are very dirty (we cleaned them after). And yes, although painfully small, this is classified as a bal...
Griptape art for the 10" Winkowski setup
Переглядів 6123 роки тому
I love the Winkowski setup so far and hope it will last me for a while. Although I like the gripjob I did, I thought it could be improved to match the amazing graphic on the bottom of the deck. Since my wife likes to paint and draw, I decided to let her have a go at it. She absolutely nailed it in my opinion and she's probably going to paint more griptapes in the future for me. I hope everyone ...
Winkowski 10" setup
Переглядів 31 тис.3 роки тому
After riding mostly 8,5" decks throughout the summer, standard popsicles and a few shaped ones, I decided it would be time to ride a wide board again. I'm not much of a technical skater, so this will work for basic flip tricks and everything else I skate. The design of the deck is amazing (as Erick Winkowski himself), so is the shape and two different wheelbase options, as well as the concave S...
8.5” setup
Переглядів 8 тис.4 роки тому
I have been working on finding my sweet spot for park / street skating this spring and summer, which meant testing decks in different shapes and sizes from various brands. I’ve settled for 8.5 as my ideal size so I can comfortably stand (shoe size 46 / US 12) and still do flip tricks without huge efforts. This setup features a really cool deck from Creature with super wide nose and tail and a p...

Flatground skateboarding session Helsinki Oodi
Переглядів 7344 роки тому
I mostly upload setup and build videos, now here is one where I actually skate. Flatground only, but sometimes that's all it needs for me. Little background to my skating: started when I was 12 (2002) and skated basically daily until I was 16, then life and work happened so I stopped riding. Picked up a complete again around 2012 and skated about 5 sessions between then and 2017. Then late 2018...
B.Y.O.D. (Build your own Dinghy)
Переглядів 10 тис.4 роки тому
I've wanted a nice mini cruiser for a while now and had my eyes on Landyachtz Dinghy selection. Although all of their designs are amazing - the Dinghy Relay (Steven Vera's design) struck me the most, especially because the shape is great too. Unfortunately in Europe it is currently difficult to get one's hands on a Dinghy Relay at all, and if you get one they all have the basic black Hawgs as w...

Powell Peralta Transition / bowl setup
You said 44 degree RKP caliber 2 both front and back. What size are you using the 157mm RKP caliber 2 in 40 degree or did you go for the 180mm calibers 2 in 40 degrees? What is the width and wheelbase of your the board in the video? I've got a landyachtz schooner sine wave 32" by 9" and 18.9" wheelbase. They come in 130mm polar bear TKP trucks. Some have a 5 degree positive wedge in the front of the tkp polar bear. I was wondering if 18.9" is little too small for RKP trucks? Like the 130mm bear gen 6 in 40 or 50 degree. The 40 degree will probably offset the squirreliness of the 50 degree bear gen 6. Some say do a 40 in the back and 50 in the front. But the wheelbase might too short for RKP. What do you think?
hi bro, I remember you that you have a bench vise. what size of your bench vise?
@@zion7762 like 125mm wide (5”). Pretty small one but does the job.
@@MarcoEckhardt thanks bro now I have idea how big I’ll gonna order..🔥
Great setup and video!!
Thought this was Leon Draisaitl
Funny how a normal board from the 80s is now considered a cruiser
Y would you get reversed trucks on old school board ? You should of kept trucks old school
How was the concave on this for kick flips? Seemed a little rough, I noticed I got a toy machine recently and i couldn’t kick flip on it, hoping Shortys is different
I rode a Toy Machine a bit after that and would say that I found the Shorty’s a bit more mellow. The TM was a Leo Romero 8,25” deck and the Shorty’s a 8,5”. For me the Muska board felt almost a bit too flat and “dull” when it came to pop. Rode it on 149 Indy hollows with 54mm wheels.
Did you just use the wholes that already on deck with trucks as my Indy’s have the 6 wholes wondering if should set them diff on these shaped decks
This deck has the new hole pattern, so you have to use the “inner” holes on your Indys. Only old decks from back then have the actual wider hole pattern and maybe some re-issues nowadays. This one has 2 WB options in the front, but the distance of the holes are just the standard modern hole pattern.
@@MarcoEckhardt thanks man
What size trucks are they man 159s ?
Yeah, also reads in the description abd I mentioned it in the clip. In this case I tried 159 Mids. Only rode those very shortly bc I didn’t like them. Swapped for regular 159s soon after!
@@MarcoEckhardt sorry buddy I here it after I sent it lol 🙈
Hey hello! what is the name of the board that hangs to the right of you when you watch the video?
The wheels look too small
My brother picked up one of these decks for Christmas different graphic, but I am pretty stoked to ride it.
159 indy = 66 ace af1??
I got some AF1 66 Aces, they are 9“ wide if I‘m not wrong. So they are between 159 (8,75“) and 169 (9.125“). But feeling is waaay more loose in ACEs.
I use indy 159 and I want to try ace af1 but I'm worried that 66 will be even bigger than the 159
@@ignaciorubbo6525 ACE 66 is wider by a quarter inch and feels way more loose.
Trucks are way too small. Should have went with Indy 169's
Winkowski rides 159 with this setup as well. With risers and like 60mm wheels
Hi bro...! Awesome vid..what do you think about a 10 ' x 31' on 149s indys?? I know it sounds crazy but it will be possible just for cruising???
Hey! Thanks! Yeah that’s possible, but iI would throw wide cruiser wheels on those, possibly even with some offset so they match the total deck width a bit more - longboard / cruiser wheels should fit well, there are plenty.
That awful cheesy techno track is distracting, annoying and unnecessary. Otherwise it's a decent video. BTW... Caballero rules!!!
nice set up
I want to get that shape for a cruzer and some slappy sessions
So sick, congratulations
No No No No NO ! Reverse trucks lol.your lost already
Best grip job ever!
I like 59 wheels with risers on my old school cruisers and the hardest bushings I can find because Im 220lbs and prefer a stiffer ride.
i'm doing the same setup .. any updates/recommendations?
Haven’t had that board in a long time. But regardless, it was a ton of fun! Enjoy it!
@@MarcoEckhardt was it any good in bowls, verts and parks like the one in suvilahti? why did you sell it? i was thinking i might need a shorter wheelbase re-issue with a small nose (lol i'm going through the same evolution as in the 80's - first a fishboard and then somdthing with a nose)
@@moonliteX didn’t go too much into any parks with it tbh. Was mostly cruising around and on the odd occasion maybe at Eltsu in the mini bowl. Sold it because I had another cruiser that served the purpose more at the time, but it was definitely a fun setup. Both on the RKPs and Indy 169s. Generally speaking I think those re issues are definitely fun in bowls also like Suvilahti, but I guess regular TKP trucks like Indys or Ace would fit better there. Hah I feel that, if you’re on the lookout for a re issue deck I have a Santa Cruz Rosskopp for sale on FB skeittikirppis atm.
The trucks are backwards
For about 2 weeks I've been trying to figure out a cruiser complete set up i want, this just helped me a lot lol especially with wheels bearings
I got 149s for this bad boy and some dragons
Nice vid. I like that you reviewed a board thats a bit different to the typical stuff out there. I was thinking of getting the 7.75" version to learn freestyle affordably. I'd shave down the nose so it's flat. I'm wondering if the pop on your board would improve if you used trucks like Ace to reduce the wheelbase. Ben Degros has nice vids explaining how truck wheelbase can affect the pop.
I like that deck. I have a more recent one that has a skeleton in the background. Yours looks a lot nicer with the solid background.
Are there more videos of this board?
Hello. Nice setup. wow. you´re about 2 meters tall... me too.. some issues finding shoes and clothes i bet., , will being checkin in in the near future.
Why is no one talking about the friggin trucks being backwards lol
Why is no one talking about you not being able to read the first pinned comment here to find the answer to that??? RKP trucks…look it up.
I love my 55's
How do the Indy 109 feel? Looks fun
They turn great, as any Indy basically. They do feel slightly different because if the big soft wheels and also because they are higher off the ground due to the riser pads. I added harder bushings, because of my weight and preferences, but other than that nothing special. Keep in mind that they are very narrow and I only picked them because I was going to use wide and off-set wheels!
Tremenda patineta te armaste.
hi, what dimensions are the trucks u use? the link doesnt work... thx
Reads also in the description + I mention it. Those are Caliber II (10“ axle width).
@@MarcoEckhardt thx
Actually suuper clean grip job! Holy smokes!
Looks amazing!
Yes mate! Great video, and what a board, I love it.
Sweet ride, love the colours, they really go together
Independent on the old school not these pair of trucks
dude where did you get that grip tape?😭 it’s amazing 😂
Made it myself! Cut small squares in different spray painted some of them + some clear grip!
how tall r u ?
<3
Stevie???
I have one that looks just like this but really beat up lol. I traded a guy a set of purple wheels for his subaru. The latest year I can find painted on it is 1985
Hi, just wondering how are you?
looks awesome but aren't those rails come into way with the wheels?
Yeah that dose just look weird with backwards trucks.
I love these older boards. Im so glad that they are making a comeback.
